LOVE this custom work! I have an intercom system from the 80s (low voltage wires), and trying to think of a clever way to use those stations for something more modern than intercoms.
Definitely not to code but I was tempted to do the same thing with my TV. For this application, they sell an enlarged recessed box that will fit behind the included wall mount.
Yeah, I had to do a similar install but I installed and wired a recessed box for future applications. I ran the Show 15 cable behind the wall and out to a receptacle outlet below. So, even a larger and deeper recess box did not work due to the size of the adapter plug. I like the wide custom frame you made. Good 👍 job.
@@FamilyDIYtv Cannot use an non in-wall rated power cable. This would void your insurance coverage in a fire (which can start by as something as small as the cord snagging on a screw, an accidentially nail, or a mouse chewing.
If only Amazon had shaved a few millimeters off of each dimension on that transformer, the off the shelf recessed outlets would work beautifully. I looked into one of the recessed cable/outlet boxes for wall mount TV and they are just too big to be hidden behind the Echo Show 15
@@FamilyDIYtv Look up "National Electrical Code 400.8". Not illegal in the sense you'll be criminalized, but as someone else mentioned, it's an easy way to fail a home inspection or get an insurance claim denied. And the fact you have this running through your laundry water pipe box really isn't helping either.
And your determination of this is based on what data exactly? If this was the case, I’d imagine a huge redesign like the Echo Auto or a big Amazon “fire sale” or completely retiring the line altogether. None of these things has happened…
