Turtle, you may want to pin a comment or adjust. I took delivery of my 150b about 2 weeks ago and it does come with a Wi-Fi Dongle. You actually show the box in your video, that is a USB and WiFi dongle combo. It works exceptionally well -changes I make on the app streaming Spotify change instantly in the Rose. Great vid!

I wonder if they changed something, they used to have a note on the product page that the dongle was not included and was availible for purchase for $60

Love the idea of getting to choose my own SSD as that is in my experience a lot cheaper than what the manufacturers offer for upgraded storage. I am not in the market for new digital HiFi stuff, but I would have preferred Roon over the self-developed Rose app or at least an option to use either one.

It is a Roon endpoint so you can use it with roon!

@@HiFiTurtle ah, checked it on the manufacturers website now. Schroeder Amplification doesn't advertise it on the product page for the 150 for some reason that's why I was confused. Thank you for clearing that up!

i am using it right now. Pretty satisfied with the sound, and the overall experience is quite decent. Especially the display looks gorgeous. But one thing i have to complain is the iPad control app. i don't know what is going on but all the error notifications are in Korean. It feels like an unfinished product, I have absolutely no idea what those errors are there therefore there is no way I could get it fixed.

Also the Rose tube App is filled with K-Pop songs which.... are absolutely rubbish. Hifi Rose needs to get their products ready for the rest of world before releasing any more products.

I'm surprised! I had a very good experience with the app albeit I only had the device for a few days. The only error I ever got was you have to sign into your rose account otherwise you can't pause music 🤪

Hi I connected with the xlr from rs150 to my receiver. I'm not using arc because arc on the receiver connected to tv. tv turns off after a little while. Why tv turns off? Should I connect the hdmi to the arc on the rose? And why I can't not fast forward songs from the remote? Even on the app the arrangements not so good everything get mixed with my rose account. For example When I'm on tidal I should be able to see whatever albums or play list I have nothing else but doesn't look that way and when couple of songs finish jumps to rose tube videos

Hi Hifi Turtle, I think the Rose RS150 is a very nice device but i saw that you also tester the DSC Bartók how do they compare to each other except for the price difference? I am very interested to buy one.

Bartok is still way better imo but the RS150 is a solid device. RS150 has some more of the smooth character and soundstaging, but not to the same legel or refinement of course

I didn't play any CDs on it. I believe any USB CD drive can be used to play CDs but I'm not sure if it will rip them. You could always rip them the the SSD, USB, or microsd from a computer and store/play them that way.

Thank you for the detailed review on the Rose RS150B. I just acquired one and getting familiarized with it (slowly). If you do not mind if I could ask you a few questions about it-I am using a Hegel H590 integrated amplifier with it and it too has a great built in DAC however I am somewhat confused if I am actually connected to the Hegel DAC running it with XLR balanced cables or am I still using the Rose DAC? I did read somewhere I may need to use a USB connection to achieve switch DACs? Anything else you care to pass on to help me get the most out of the Rose is greatly appreciated and many thanks for taking the time making these incredibly helpful tutorials and reviews.

XLR will only carry analog signal out of the Rose. 99% of the time in audio XLR will only be analog. There is digital AES that uses a single XLR, but this is exceedingly rare to see in consumer audio and is not on the Rose. If you hook up a digital source such as optical or usb to the Hegel you could switch between each DAC using different input settings on the Hegel.

@@HiFiTurtle, You need to be corrected about the digital output in HiFi Rose RS150B. Even in your own video, the AES/EBU output is present and is clearly visible in the HiFi Rose RS150B unit you are talking about. So if his Hegel H590 integrated has AES/EBU digital input, he can use it and the USB input.

Very good sounding device. It does everything right but not for long, because it runs on Android 7.1 and gets unsafe. An obsolete operating system running in your network is not a good idea except for hackers to use it as a fully functional base to take over.

Hi, can you describe a bit more on the point made at 06:18 related to the meters not matching the music if/when you do not have an external pre-amp? Cant the RS150B itself be used as a pre-amp, connect direct to a power amp (and still have the meters in sync)? Thanks

It can be used as a preamp (except when playing DSD) but if you do so at the current version of the software at least you will have no meter response. The digital volume control must be turned off in order for the meters to move. You can also not have the meters when playing from airplay.

Which preout level settings do I need to use on my RS150B? Currently I have it turned off. Does it depend on the type of amps or recievers? Is it safe to check one by one to see which one better? Thanks

The voltage selection will be available when the internal preamp is disabled so you need to make sure you have an external preamp. The voltage selection will have little impact on sound quality, select a voltage that allows you to listen comfortably with plenty of room to turn the volume up and down.

Does the Rose use a fuse? Is that fuse accessible?

Yes, 99% of audio electronics will use a fuse because its required for CE certification in the EU. If your question is on swapping fuses for an "audiophile fuse" I would save your money. Fuses are not in the signal path and I dont believe any of the audiophile ones are certified by safety groups. Fuses are protection devices, using one without certification is very risky imo.
