I completely AGREE with the white font …. Maybe there is a stencil hack wherein we can remove old and slap On new ! DIY … Other than that , I love the amp. It deserves more press
Thanks so much for the hard work in presenting this device. I was looking for it and should shortly give it a go,) A bit sad the preamp is not up to tje dac quality, would have made this device a killer. To be noted, electrocompaniet is not advertising about the preamp, but about the dac and streamer, and this is what this device should be bought for anyway.😊
I don't think CD's ever went anywhere...with streaming, they just kinda of puttered out a bit and the price initially was insanely high. However, people are starting to see the benefit of having an optical disc again. I think the more people that try vinyl who can't afford the mega-buck turntable will again realize the benefit of the optical disc which doesn't have pops, ticks, tracing and tracking distortion or error, no warp induced wow, no major issues with wow and flutter, not running at the right speed...where do we start. SACD is also still around and mostly being put out by Audiophile labels...so they're very well mastered. However, I will sey, get a true CD player, don't get a DVD player/blu-ray player as the quality of the Redbook CD Playback isn't that good.
Good straight to the point review. Maybe the s on the box is for a silver case amp? If it is a special edition maybe he will offer one with different capacitors. Seen on his channel he tasted a ton
Just can't put any Schit named items into my rig. Their childish stupid name doesn't deserve my money. Time to grow and and show you deserve my hard earned money.
a preamp does not attenuate the volume, it works by increasing the voltage. its role is not very intuitive. i have hve the feeling that you just dont know what you are talking about
Vinyl is now beating CD in sales. I dont think CDs are coming back. They are still typically mastered with less dynamic range than vinyl despite having more dynamic range as a medium. Also, streaming or downloading 24-bit music on your phone or computer is more convenient than CD while not having the same issues with dynamic range. Vinyl is more nostalgic, has better/more album art, and offers true analog sound that in many cases also offers more dynamic range and ultrasonic frequencies missing from CD. People gravitate towards vinyl for the "ritual" of listening to music that you're truly passionate about. 24-bit streaming is better than CD in just about every way, including being more convenient. I just don't see CD being nostalgic enough to beat vinyl, nor good enough in the present day to beat 24-bit streaming/downloads. It's in an awkward position.
Once CDs were available in the '80s I transitioned my entire vinyl collection and have never looked back since. Here are reasons for my loyalty to the CD format: They are practically indestructible unlike vinyl which can be scratched or warped and made useless. Who the heck wants to flip to side b and back to a? I discard the jewel cases and keep the CDs and liner notes in a CD folio which I then store in a bookcase. This saves a lot of space and footprint. I rip the CDs onto a NAS and stream throughout my media devices, including the car. There is no guarantee that digital streaming media can be 100% owned by the buyer. If anything happens to the digital media or physical media I have a backup.
I’m thinking of getting one. Even though I have a Mark Levinson and a custom SET tube amp, for $1,500 it’s appealing. Based on your review, I’m thinking some of my Fleetwood Mac favorites may sound great with the “coloring”.
Thomas does the work. He does the correct work to resource quality components for his builds. The TS A 75 comes up in many reviews. It is interesting how many capacitance he uses in this amplifier. If you look at the CHoco sound Emei, it has far less by a surprising amount.
Great review! I agree on the aesthetics front - they are very important to me as well. The white lettering is very unappealing to me, so I appreciate you calling it out as no one else seems to have pointed it out in other reviews. It’s too bad, as it seriously detracts from the otherwise good looking casework.
Did dCS threaten you to make a positive review? dCS reviews cannot be trusted due to their willingness to sue over a bad review, and brings up the question as to the integrity of the reviewer.
With the exception of 8-tracks and mini-disc, all music formats are valid and viable. The problem with 8-tracks were continuity issues regarding track sequencing. The problem with the mini-disc format is that consumers had just finished rebuilding their vinyl LP collection with CD's and mp3 players were already promised to be the next big thing, which of course they were. Personally, I'd like to see Apple bring back the iPod shuffles. Their small size and absolutely ease of use was genius.
This amp is the real deal and will compete with way more expensive amps. I believe you discovered that, and probably hard to admit given its price point. I’ve tried it and will embarrass many amplifiers.
I would have liked to see no white print on the front .. at all. Just keep it totally clean. I mean, the look of the amp is different enough that we don't need to see the model as obvious.. looking at it .. we know it's not the TS120. A great video - talking points and views. Man, .. I gotta get better with B-roll additions. =) Solid Gear.. Kudos to Thomas!! Looking forward to a chance to hear these some days.
I really wish more people get to listen to the TS A75 and thanks for this review which sets a good expectation for what to expect. Hmm..I really should make a cup coaster, along with my Galion Instant noodle!
@@devinwilliams4851 I did mention to some of my subscribers that I have another amp developed that might be better for Maggies. Not that it is stronger in power, about the same power, but that one is a smoother amp and might be a better match for some Maggies because Maggies are quite transparent. I also developed a 150w amp but that one is in the garbage because it was too bright.
Beautiful to see many of us protesting against this companies behavior. That it may become clear to other companies too that such behavior is unacceptable and can have a huge effect.
Ironically I would say these companies would do better if they raised prices! 100K+ Wilson, Magico, YG, Sonus Faber, etc. have been selling better than ever before. Its the under 20K segments that are starting to see significant pullback.
I just love my Kanta 2's, it has everything, and I think this review is spot on. I demoed many speakers in the same price class that are mentioned in the video and agree with the review. I play 'm with a Gato Dia 400 S and tried other brands too like Naim, NAD, Hegel, Cambridge, a.o. but the Gato and the Focals are a combination with an absolute sweet spot.
@@jeffreyvdk1787 i am thinking of buying the kanta 1. I have also the gato dia 400s. Is it a bright or lean pairing and can it get fatigue on the treble? Or has it some warmth?
This video popped up for me probably because of Golden Sound’s reviews. I can so relate to what he’s going through having experienced being bullied when I told my students to be careful who they take hypnosis-related training with because I found out that a student attended one by a convicted paedophile who then moved from UK to Thailand and this student was telling my students to go.
I've always hated vinyl records, even when I was a kid, that is why I tried to make a tape recorder in the fourth grade, I didn't succeed obviously, but at least I tried! The ticks, and pops, plus surface noise, and the eccentricity of vinyl records drove me (when I had enough money), to purchase a used teak A1500U, reel-to-reel tape recorder, but I could easily still hear the difference between "source and tape", the dreaded tape hiss. In 1978 as an engineering consultant for the "Great American Sound Co., I traveled to Japan to visit GAS dealers and the Tokyo Electronics Show. In the Sony booth at that show, I saw for the first time, a model PCM-1, 12-bit digital processor playing music from the video track displaying thousands of black and white, undulating bits on the monitor, from the same SL-8200 Beta max VCR I had at home, I had to own one of these! In 1983 I attended an AES meeting featuring Marshall Buck who was presenting his new "coaxial two-way" loudspeaker he had designed for Cerwin-Vega! In his demonstration he was utilizing a "vocal-only" recording of a female singer that sounded fantastic with an incredible "dynamic range" and no background hiss. Immediately after Marshall's demonstration, I walked up and asked him what equipment was playing back his recording of this singer? He pointed to this diminutive silver box, and said I'm using a Sony PCM-F1, 16-bit Digital Audio Processor and a VCR. I said how much for the PCM-F1. He said $1,500.00, and I said sold! I built a portable recording rig that included the PCM-F1 and other custom-made equipment that I utilized for various musical performance recordings made on location and I won an Emmy for an outdoor performance of the opera Faust! I've been a digital advocate ever since, if you wish to learn more about my current endeavors, search RU-vid with the following: "JBL SYNTHESIS CREATOR", and ALSO: "HOWTOHOMELIFE". Congrats. Like you i waited and a dealer Demo pair of Confidence 20's came my way, i owned them for 2 years, and was convinced they would be my end game speaker. Then that same dealer wanted the 20's back and offered me his Confidence 30 speakers at a great deal. I jumped all over that, I ended up paying $18K CDN for the 1 year old confidence 30's. Let me tell you, the 20's are the most incredible "bookshelf" speaker you will hear, at the same time switching to the 30's created an entirely different listening experience. After spending 4 hours placing the speakers and my listening chair in the room, we hit the sweet spot. I made six large acoustic panels, 2 at each reflection point, and a ceiling cloud above each speaker. My room is treated fairly well, and room treatment will keep you from swapping audio components so often. Tune the room for the gear you have. A large floor stander will deliver such a huge soundstage and overall musical difference compared to a bookshelf speaker. At the same time they are the correct speaker for my room, and they do not overpower the room.
Oh by the way, I am running a pair of Sugden MPA-4 pure class A mono blocks with my Confidence 30's 165 watts of pure class A power = to 550 watt class AB . I found a conversion, lol. At the same time, they have no issues driving these big speakers.
Well this video is getting some attention again due to recent news. Based on DCS's response I hope that this means there is no threat of litigation and that Golden Sound can keep his video up without consequence.
