HiFiMan Edition XS Beta mod install and graphs 

I was one of the lucky few who got to try these beauties out. Wow. What an improvement! Straight off the bat I've noticed Bass & Soundstage improvements. Previous soundstage was sitting just behind my ears/shoulders, sound has now been brought forward which I prefer and has opened right up presenting much larger. Bass is now more punchy which is quite surprising, I normally EQ my XS as they have so much head room. I can now see myself rocking without EQ at times which wasn't an option previously. Installation was much easier than expected, justed needed to committ and get over the first step. Fantastic job guys, big fan. Highly recommend grabbing a pair of these when they become available. Massive thanks for allowing me to test these out, they'll be permanently staying on my cans.

@CustomCans My beta kit arrived today. The modification is already finished, it was really easy. The first listen sounds very promising. I'll listen more closely in the next few days with fresh ears and try out different music. But so far it's really surprising how different/better the Edition XS sound now. Detailed feedback will come when I have tested them extensively. Thanks again for the chance to take part in the beta.🥰

Patiently waiting for the feedback! Low the comfort strap and ready for more soundstage! Would love the XS grills in black. Would be cool if you created a custom software eq to get that last little bit exactly how you want on top of the mod.

I listened to this while getting ready but will try to actually watch it today at some point because I'm extremely interested in mods to Edition XS!

Very cool, those grills look awesome, it would be cool to offer them in a bunch of color choices. I don’t have my edition xs anymore but if I did I would give this a shot.

First, thank you for your hard work and passion that you share with us! I did try the mod. It is very interesting to hear the effect of changing that grill. It is like a new driver! I did not try the organic but I think I would not like it… for me the mod bring too much unnatural brightness and annoying « S » in the voice. The 2k-4k is also weaken and accentuate that timber shift. You are right, that mod amplify the soundstage in a special and fun way and it work great for orchestral recordings… but with a lot of vocal this hi boost is not good. Over all I prefer the XS in stock version and I am very curious to try the Arya stealth and organic… maybe I would still prefer the XS…

I'm too afraid to try this mod 😅 but im really interested in the results and I'm looking forward to here from the beta testers !

love the pointing at YOUR monitor. I do that too and every single time my brain steps in at some point and calls me a dimwit. Pointless pointing if you will :) Other than that: this might make me get a used pair of the XS and try out the mod. Everything that is in the wider ballpark of ANY Arya modell is in a good ballpark - they are all rather lovely, well mannered headphones.

using the minidsp ears instead of something like the gras makes it really hard to compare to other headphones

The XS looks like soething to try out. I tried the Organic and found it way too treble focused, I truly don't understand the hype around that headphone.
