I have a doubt mam. In HAPE condition, decreased PO2 causes vasoconstriction, but in high altitude adaptation in lungs there is a capillary recruitment phenomen which is opening up of capillaries and distension. These two statement are contrary and confusing me
@PhysiologyOpen
@PhysiologyOpen 5 месяцев назад
Capillary recruitment occurs as a passive phenomenon by stretching to accommodate increased output from right ventricle for adaptation. However decreased po2 leads to vasoconstriction…so they are two different mechanisms

Always connect things as much as you can…I try to find logic and why if everything …for that I can spend hours trying to search for answers
@PhysiologyOpen
@PhysiologyOpen 3 месяца назад
Atleast start to think of why…you will generate very good questions, which is the key

Maam i have small doubt here… while u are telling the pathophysiology of HACE, u told that vasodilation is leading to increased hydrostatic pressure and thats leading to edema …..yeah increasing hydrostatic pressures leads to push force and that causes edema ……my doubt is How come vasodilation lead to increased Hydrostatic pressure??? My point is hydrostatic pressure is nothing but the blood pressure at the capillary levels so vasodilation leads to decreased resistance(by increase in radius) and should decrease the hydrostatic pressure naa?? Are there any other dominant factors driving this or am thinking in a wrong way please explain maam… I m 3 rd year student carrying this doubt since 1st year😅
@PhysiologyOpen
@PhysiologyOpen 6 месяцев назад
Vasodilation of arterioles - will lead to increased pressure ahead of it (capillaries) but decreased arterial pressure behind it (peripheral resistance - resistance to flow)
