Dan Kittredge and the Bionutrient Food Association are on a mission to increase quality in the food supply through educating growers, raising awareness among consumers and conducting research on the nature of crop quality and the correlation between soil health, plant health and human health. Join us for part 1 of this 2 day journey of discovery, rethinking how we do things and embracing the possibilities of new horizons in higher quality food.

Interesting to here that guy mention Dr Elaine Ingham, I was blessed to find her videos, the knowledge she shares on soil life has been so valuable.

Dr. Elaine Ingham is a true hero. Her mission to empower people to understand the soil food web - the interplay of the abundant life forms that form the basis of the food chain on land. Interestingly, in her earlier videos she did not seem to understand the role of herbivores in soil health, probably because of the artificial practice of 'set stocking'. As a true scientist, she has come to a larger understanding about the role of animals that live above the soil surface in the Web of Life. Dr. Ingham is one of my heroes!

The soils have been grossly devoid of nutrients since the first plow was put into the ground. This soil regeneration and bionutrients should be practiced by every one in any type of farming/agriculture. This is one of the several reasons that our health has been constantly being destroyed; the lack of nutrients.

I've listened to all of Dan's videos and can't wait for the rest of this series even though it is the same talk. Especially interested in his answer to the Elaine question and what he has coming in the future with her. This is all good. Keep up the great work. And hurry with the rest of these talks from Dan. Growing season is here.

I have thought about your question vis a vis my own experience. I've been on my property for four years, basically building soil on top of the existing decomposed granite that's here. I've had trouble with seed germination, transplanting, and less than optimal yields... even though there's clearly a lot of life in the soil we've built, and in some ways plants seem to have good pest and disease resistance. Upon doing (finally) a soil test this fall, turns out we're deficient in boron, calcium, and cobalt. Based upon Dan's reasoning, the lack of these minerals would result in decreased carb production and transportation to the roots. That in turn would result in diminished soil microbe activity, creating a self-defeating cycle of deficiencies. I have applied Azomite to my gardens and trees, and even though it's fall here, there seem to be positive effects after a couple of weeks. We'll see how the mineral applications play out next season, but I'm hopeful that the mineral supplements will fill in the gaps, support the soil food web, and result in easier and better growth.

On babies and digestion - It is not just a lack of the ideal gut flora... Most of the digestion issues infants in the USA have come from not being fed raw breastmilk. Babies fed highly processed formulas will usually develop issues, even if they got their mother's colostrum. In addition to crying, babies fed formula STINK. That should tell us something. Babies fed soy-based formula are the fussiest, and stink the most. (Soy formula also gives these babies massive amounts of phytoestrogens every day. Is this wise?) If that is unavailable, a homemade formula based on unprocessed milk is the 2nd best choice. The Weston A. Price has a good recipe.

I watched this months ago, YT picked up where I left off. I was thinking about germ theory about an hour ago and how it humans relate so much to nature, and thought about leaving a comment randomly on some soil restoration speaker's comment section about Andrew Kaufman 🤣 and how germ theory is BS and people and plants have similar immune systems! So funny, I started this video seconds before he started talking about it 🤣🤣🤣

Cover crops - Why not use low-growing 'cover crops' as living mulch all season long? White clover and purslane (which is really a vegetable grown in other countries for food) are two that come to mind that do not compete, and tolerate a good bit of foot traffic. Clover also fixes nitrogen into the soil.

(I will {later} review this video to insure my claim is actually valid and not picking on a silly thing, which is possible) I lost interest when i heard anti-science claims being told as facts. (referring to, sorry I don't remember, I re-skimmed the video and didn't have to time to find what I am referring to. I will re-watch when I have time. If my claim is not worth this comment, I will edit this comment to mention the claim for what it is. I hope I just missed a keyword that lead me to a wrong assumption. )

@@ShotGunner5609 Sorry, the Bionutrient video, I wish I had put a timestamp on it for what I was referring to. I don't have the time now, but maybe later on i will rewatch it from the start and figure out what it was that was "anti-science" being told as facts. I am usually pretty strict with this type of claim, so hopefully I didn't make a claim based on a phrase like "think" or "possibly" or "assume" or "probably" or "believe" or anything along those lines, because those types of words, can't be judged and simply disagree. I personally want to know what upset me. So I will leave this video open and hope I get free time soon.

Lost me when he tried to denounce germ theory, he does not know what it means. Germ theory says that life does not spontaneously appears in sterile environments - not that all people exposed to a disease agent will get that disease, obviously some are resistant. He needs a basic science education.
@Jefferdaughter
@Jefferdaughter 5 лет назад
What do we expect for 'free'? In an education, that is. Public schools are more of a baby-sitting service than a tool for education. Yet... he did mention that he was referring to Pasteur's theory of germs as the sole causative agents of disease. Like most things in biology, disease is the result of the complex interplay of factors, with the health and disease resistance of the plant or animal being an absolutely critical factor. Obviously, this talk was not intended for scientists, but is generalized for growers. I admire those who can speak technically while keeping the information accessible, like Dr. Elaine Ingham, but this is challenging to do. Maybe you could do it and post the videos to YouTuve> Jerry Brunetti's talks did this for me, but others have told me that his presentations were too technical, and often contained too much theory when they were looking for general concepts - and practical steps they could take.
