I don't understand much about Linux, and how emulators work on it, I don't know on Windows it runs better, but I expected more from this mini PC, maybe running a Batocera it works better. But I still think this PC is very interesting for the cost benefit

I agree with you. At least as far as PS 2 is concerned, I definitely expected a stable 60fps. Possibly even upscaled to 720p. Windows or Linux shouldn't make much of a difference as long as the emulator runs natively on the OS. If desired, I can still test how well older consoles are emulated. However, I'm not worried that everything up to PS 1/ N64 should run without problems (if only because the emulators are quite mature). I could try Saturn and GameCube. After the PS 2 disaster, I don't think that this Ryzen 7 7730u Mini PC will do very well with GameCube emulation.

Is there a reason you're running Linux and not windows on it? BTW, Which distro you're using?

I really didn't like Windows 10, but it was still kind of okay (it was preinstalled on my old AIO Lenovo PC). But with Windows 11, Microsoft lost me. I am using EndeavourOS and the open source AMD drivers. But on my main PC I am running openSUSE Tumbleweed

Thanks for the answer and for the reviews :) @@tianonly I ordered the Ren5000 5300U, I'm thinking whether to use Windows 11 on it or using some light Linux distro (like LUbuntu or XUbuntu) One thing that bothers me with Linux is drivers + I'm using the APO Equalizer on windows for routing my 8CH external sound card - also something that won't be easy on Linux - but I'm willing to try :)

@@saturnfrak If there is a Windows-only software that you can't or don't want to do without, use Windows. For me there is no added value to use Windows anymore. Yes, there are one or two programs that I miss, but I'm fine without them. And for other things I have changed my habits. Instead of Sony (or now Magix) Vegas I use Kdenlive. It took me a while to get used to it, but it's enough. But I do also nothing great fancy with it. As a pro-user or professionally it would look different again. For me personally, Windows overdoes it with the monitoring. Sure Google Chrome also monitors me, but have a benefit to the opposite. Everyone must decide for themselves whether the benefits outweigh the disadvantages (by the way, I use Firefox😁). Windows no longer has this benefit for me.

loud is realtive You can hear it when it spins. The closer the device is, the more clearly. But in general, the fan noise is lost in the general background noise. When the fan first started, I couldn't place the noise and was irritated by the buzzing😅

Thanks. Is the fan always on or can it throttle with load? Asking because this product is significantly cheaper than the other popular brands on Ali, and I suspect cooling is a major part where they cut costs. I don't have an issue with fan noise in general but if it's "hair dryer mode" all the time even when there is minimal load, I would rather pass...

No. the Ryzen 7 7730u has a RX Vega 8 from 2020. Ist somewhat little above half as powerfull as the much newer Radeon 680m

Du solltest die Kiste mal mit Batocera testen. Wenn ein Ryzen7 5700u bis hoch zuPS3, Xbox360 und switch emulieren kann, sollte dieser MiniPc das doch auch packen?
