Hey Hatoraid, Not an SVS sub owner, but I wanted! Congratulations for your video and the funny way of your bass reactions! I saw you talking about port chuffing and I really could not imagine that a sub like this, the SVS team didn't soften this issue (if it is physically possible). I have a Polk Audio HTS 12 and got amazed when I pushed it to a level that I normally don't use to listen and I practically didn't hear ANY port chuffing. It might be a mix of its PowerPort Technology, its power (not too much, 200 Watts RMS) and its frequency range, down to 22 Hz, if I'm not wrong. A question: does PB-4000 has a good punch? Because reading some review, I saw that some people say that PB-16 Ultra is stronger in ultra low bass range.
@hatoraidcowboy
@hatoraidcowboy Год назад
Thanks! The port chuffing is only on my 12” cylinder sub and only happens below 20 hz. The SVS PB4000 is an incredible suffer. Yes the PB16 Ultra will play louder and dig deeper because of the bigger driver. But one really only needs that size over the PB4000 if you have a bigger room that requires bigger drivers

Just started watching your videos, great stuff and subbed, keep up the great work! One note I wanted to make is your mentioned the sound engineers "cleaned up" the bass note. It can be described as that depending on the perspective, but my understanding is that a high pass filter was applied that really nerfs the bass below 30 Hz. Ideally if you are familiar with the original DTS lossless mix, then you should try to listen to that with the PB4000 to get a true apples to apples comparison.
@hatoraidcowboy
@hatoraidcowboy Год назад
Thanks for the sub! Yea I noticed right away compared to the DTS lossless version. I actually like how clean the newer version is compared to the original. It still digs deep without sounding like everything is rattling. Its cool the first time you hear but after it just gets annoying lol

Good vid. I have a single pb4000 and another on the way from the US. I live in New Zealand so the PB4000s are about as good as it gets for the price. I come from dual 7cft sealed diy 15s and the SVS dont disappoint. Looked at the pb3000 and pb16 ultras as well, the prices went up before I purchased so went with the pb4000.

Great review on the PB 4000.... I stumbled upon your video because I am in the market for upgrading my subwoofer... Currently, I have a PC 2000 and in my new space the flooring is different at home and Front Forward Firing would be a much better experience. I am slightly confused on I should get the PB 3000 or PB 4000... Do you have an idea which one may work better?

Mine is on the way, so I guess I will be doing these sound bite test, too. I prefer the pegged grill vs magnetic as they are never strong enough to hold the grills and the SVS grills are not light weight. With the cushioned pegs, I know they are secured, don't rattle and going nowhere, especially during heavy use.

Great review video! I'm hoping you can help me make a decision.. I've currently owned 2 PB 3000's for a couple years and looking to upgrade. I would love to get 2 PB 16 Ultra's but the price here in Canada jumped drastically, so I could only afford 1. My question is, should I get 2 PB 4000's rather than 1 PB 16 Ultra? I have a fairly large room at 23x26. Upgrading to the 4000's would not really hurt my pocket after selling the 3000's, but the Ultra's would be over $11,000 canadian for 2 of them. Any thoughts would really help me make this decision. I've looked high and low and I can't find the Ultra's used here in Canada either. I do have some good used deals on the 4000's though.
@hatoraidcowboy

Thank you! It you have a large room always go with multiple subs. The 2 PB4000 will smoke one 16 Ultra. Get two PB4000’s and if you can put one up front and one in the back.

hey cowboy, if you're going to buy it and keep it for long term. Can you chime in on the sealed mode of this. By that, I mean make a second room correction profile on anthem, on the svs app, put in sealed mode, with all 3 ports plugged, and see how it performs with music. Would like to understand this with music and how blended it can be to the Left and Right speaker

13Hz and 1200W RMS /4200W pk is a pretty potent combo. Like cement cracking potent. Great choice on Super 8. The original Transformers flick is a good listen too - where the snake looking mechanical critter wraps around a building and squeezes it in half, good rumble from the subs. When does the 2nd one show up?

Flat to 18hz? You're missing an entire octave of LFE content. Check out PSA's newer 18's TV18F-M with traditional surround(flat to 9-10hz), JTR's or rythmik FV18's (in room 108db @ 12.5hz), all these sub will get you "useable" into the single digit HZ. You loose app control but you gain deeper, tighter, punchy bass. You would need 2-3 pb4000's to match the output/extension one of those subs and they cost the same or less than the pb4000... its something to think about/research. Look up the scene "irene" from blackhawk down. You'll only get that tactile experience if you have subs that extend flat to 10hz. *note if you run mini DSP you can change settings/control from your seat using a laptop and setup quick change presets using the minidsp remote. You can create seperate profiles for movies, music or create a "night mode". But the best part is diving into the BEQ world :D

At -18db your not getting the most out of your sub. I called SVS and they said -10db is at reference level so i keep my 2 SVS PC 4000$ at -10db for the best output 🍿🎬 Oooooooooooooooo yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa💪

Everyone’s room is different. Placement also factors in. Room gain, and I’m using multiple subs so I don’t need to be at -10. Your room size, shape and placement will determine how loud you need to push it.

Dual PB3000 in my rig. I use miniDSP2x4HD to manage the bass rather than ARC-g. MSO worked wonders in getting good, even bass response across my seats. Of course my ego demands I upgrade to PB4000, but my ears (and body) tell me it is not necessary.
