High End Industrial / Apothecary - CRAZY pine furniture flip!

Y'all.... If I hadn't done this transformation myself, I'd NEVER believe this was the same piece of furniture. I mean, there's NO WAY! 😉
This sad little FB Marketplace dresser is now literally unrecognizable from its former self. The apothecary dupe has been done many times before, but it was all I could picture when looking at this piece in my storage room for a year and a half; it WANTED to be turned into this!
New library catalogue style pulls, industrial style wheels, custom staining (multiple colours)... this looks like something you'd find in a high end retail store now!
This is the link for the video I mention where I go into detail about the Kreg Pocket Hole Jig: • EASY 1 coat paint tech...

No one looking at the 'after' would believe it was the same piece. Thank you for uncovering and showcasing the beauty of the grain in that pine. I love old library and apothecary cabinets, and even though your piece is faux, it has the look of a piece touched by many hands, well-used and loved over time. Someone is going to treasure it forever.

Thank you so much! Yeah I was definitely trying to make it look less like a fresh refinish and more like the wood had aged, ambered, and had some patina.. albeit faux. lol I’m quite happy with how it turned out. :-)

Gorgeous!!! If I lived anywhere close and had the money to spare, I would buy this from you in a heartbeat. I love all the thoughtful work you put into making these projects really nice. Like fixing and even waxing the drawer bottoms. Things you don't see, but help keep the furniture in good shape. And as always, I love the artistry in your work. It's what keeps me coming back to your channel and sets you apart from other furniture flippers. Keep up the good work!

Angie, I'm ever impressed with your eye; your ability to reimagine these forgotten pieces is a true talent. Sometimes when I hear people on RU-vid or HGTV announce they're completely restyling a piece of furniture, cabinetry, or a whole house, I think, "Uh-oh," because the outcome can be cringeworthy. I NEVER feel that way when I watch your videos; I always know that the end result will be beautiful and top quality. My grandfather was a cabinetmaker who immigrated to the US when he was 16. Although he was very traditional in his views about women, I'd like to think that your skill and vision would've won him over and he would've been happy to work alongside you. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!

OH MY GOODNESS! I’m a card maker too! As soon as you said “I make greeting cards,” I got so excited. And then you pulled out Tim Holtz distress ink and I was like, “YES, let’s gooooooooo!” I’m in Australia, and haven’t been able to craft for weeks because of storm damage to our house (caused by the recent flooding). So my craft room is currently all packed up. I also love DIY stuff, but am no longer well enough to do it. (Degenerative disability.) I still really enjoy watching it being done though. Kind of living vicariously through others, haha. I found your channel recently, and have been loving watching all your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. I also have a degenerative arthritic condition which gets in the way some times but I do my best not to let it stop me altogether though as life without making or crafting is just as miserable as coping with rhe stupid pain. All the best from London. X

It’s a bit gummy for my liking. I found quickly that you need to move swiftly and apply enough that you have time to move it around. And don’t over-brush it. It was weird initially but I got the hang of it quickly. But yeah.. normally I prefer something less thick.

I‘m not a furniture restorer and don‘t know much about it - but I‘m a woodworker and furniture maker. So I learned a lot from this, and had a few tips I can offer on the woodworking end of it in exchange. You can use a straight line guide (piece of wood) and a flush trim bit on a router to get a nice clean edge - it will give you a much cleaner cut than the oscillating tool. For removing finish when you have solid wood (which always makes things easier!), you can use a surface conditioning tool (harbor freight and eastwood both offer them, harbor freight‘s is pretty cheap). For someone doing a lot of refinishing, it would be well worth it. It‘s a bit like an angle grinder but lets you use abrasive drums and sand in the direction of the grain. And cute bunnies!
@TranscendFurnitureGallery

Thanks for the tips! At the time I hadn't yet become familiar with the use of a router, that's changed now. I know this method took longer but I didn't want my practice piece with the router to be this one. Thanks so much for watching!

Damn those wavy areas, haha! You removed them in such an efficient way, and they were not carved in there sparingly either. Great job on that part! No way... That smoking paint was nuts! That would have scared the hell out of me. I imagine a 911 call (US) occurring to be sure we didn't lose the neighborhood in a random explosion! Not surprising it effected you. I LOVE the idea of cutting into the drawers to create the illusion of more drawers. It may not have been an original idea, but you did a beautiful job with that! Yup... this piece is Beeeautiful! Wow! The graining adds so much from the way you stained it! Really, really beautiful! Even the wheels look good on this piece, and I despise wheels on furniture. Stunning choices on all materials you used to make this piece what it is, Angie! As always, Thanks for sharing with us!

Angie, your skills and imagination knows no bounds. If I haven’t seen it happen and just saw the finished product there would be no way I could backtrack it to the original. It is beautiful, which is exciting. I love the wheels.

I love that you make your own cards! I do too. I started making them at my husband's suggestion as a way of honoring my father after he passed away . After I made my 500th card, my husband suggested we get a booth at an antiques mall and sell them there. I sold them at two local stores also.We did that for a while, then changed to selling them at an open house a couple times a year. Covid ended that, but I still take orders from friends and family. It's nice to know that we share this common form of creativity. Maybe we can trade a card or two someday! By the way, the dresser turned out GREAT!!!

Your vision for this piece was spot on, it’s beautiful. The bunnies are so cute, I’m sure that they bring you much joy.I loved hearing that you also use your creativity to make greeting cards, so do I. I can’t work without my distress inks, they make everything pop!

They are probably my favourite thing to use! The possibilities are endless with the whole Tim Holtz line!

H O L Y SMOKES, Angie!! It looks nothing like the same piece!! Absolutely stunning! That wood grain, the use of the different stains (totally adds to the interest of the piece) and that stain + polyurethane combo just took it to a-whole-nother level. I’m forever amazed at your talent and how you envision a piece.💜 Re your Surf Prep (and you may have already done so), call them and tell them what you’ve got for your vacuum system and they’ll hook you up with the right fitting. I called (partly bc I was so overwhelmed online) and they were so kind and easy to deal with. I just love this company (and yes, we still love you, Mr. Dewalt.🤗)
