Seems like rockets are like pancakes, the first one always comes out a bit wonky.

Right as I was about to ask which you liked more you basically answered my question, so I'll change it up. Which one did you prefer to use when engaging targets, the .50 or the rockets?

Rockets in DCS underperform so drastically because splash damage, shrapnel effects and, above all, hit zones on vehicles are not simulated correctly. I think the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System is the only weapon system that really makes sense to take with you... assuming they are similar to the A10... they are great there.

Out of curiosity can you just switch the feed from the mast mounted site and use it as a boresight retical (similar to what was demonstrated with the stingers)? Or does it not align properly?

Great video Casmo. I have all the helicopters and I will get this one. Looks like a fun little chopper. The added value of having a hellfire, is also a great standoff weapon. I find the AI so aggressive and accurate that it takes away from what would be in real life, people running for cover.

Very cool, Cas. Any chance we can see a sort of "overall realistic" employment video? High density altitude COIN type stuff in mountains. Would be cool to see sort of real-life tactics and aircraft performance similar to its use in Afghanistan. Cheers mate, so glad to see the Kiowa finally arriving.

Thank you always for the awesome video, I have a question about the bump (pop-up) attack! I understand that a forward cyclic after rapid climbs(low G pushover) causes right rolling, in severe cases mast bumping. I'm wondering if bump attacks don't expose them to this risk. Doesn't it matter if it's not semi rigid rotor system? Or is there anything I should be careful about when controlling it?

Looking forward to DCS getting proper fragmentation simulation with bombs and rockets. Will make those rocket much more effective against soft targets. Especially infantry

looks awfully close to those detonations, shouldnt there be a minimum range for rockets since they throw so much dangerous debris into fragile rotors?

I’ve only played DCS offline with the UH-1. I’m not sure if what I’m asking makes sense, but are there maps or mission packs that I should buy? Great set of KW videos, by the way; it’s all coming back.

Casmo on rockets: weight is an issue so one pod only lol on Hellfires: weight is an issue so one or two only lol on gun: weight is an issue so we often didn’t have a full load of ammunition lol I sense a theme here.

How big targets can these rockets take out?

with the Kiowa, do you have to worry about mast bumps like in the UH1? like when transitioning to a low g / neg g state in the bump

Kiowa is something i've wanted for years, and now we're so close. Now if we could get an Mi-28, and official UH-60.... xD. One of my co-workers who served in Afghanistan used to laud the Kiowa pilots they got to work with. Something apparently about them showing up in the mountains and dropping snacks to the troops or something like that. I wanna drop snickers bars to ground forces now. :D

Any chance you'd be willing to toss together a quick little example video of how to setup some realistic layouts for a helicopter base and FARP? I know it's probably a "who gives a shit?" type detail, but I always enjoy trying to give myself some semi-realistic little bases to depart from whenever possible.

Is it feasible/useful to line up with a quick blast of the 50cal, as an alignment check, then quickly switch to rockets and let one off? Is that something a KW pilot would do, or is time too short on the run in?

So is there any definitive word on whether or not we're getting APKWS or not? Would be a game changer I'd imagine.

Casmo, your videos are such a huge value add to this module. You are a great teacher and I will be watching everything you put out on this. Couple quick questions, too: (1) Would you consider releasing some of these very simple target range missions? Not sure if they come with the Kiowa but some simple mission sets to do the same target practice you are doing would be fun to go try out. (And on that note, I hope you end up partnering with some great 3rd party campaign creators for an Afghanistan/Iraq campaign in the future! (2) You mentioned in the video you need to tell the Kiowa what rockets are onboard. Is that IRL only? In DCS, if we rearm/refuel or setup a mission with a loadout, will the system already be configured appropriately? (Kind of hoping I don't need to manually go plug it in on the MFD every time I do a loadout)
