I'm sure if it was Belle & Sebastian's 'We Are the Sleepyheads' from The Life Pursuit this would've been a completely different scene! They're definitely a band worth checking out, don't let ol' Jack Black put you off.
Jack Black is not one to talk about Belle & Sebastian, with his playing that obnoxious garbage that he thinks his music on his piece of junk plastic electronic saxophone.
I remember as kid how cool it was to discover if you put a pencil inside one of the holes of the cassette, you could spool it back in three times as fast as you could with the finger.
I kind of want a film which is just an hour and a half of idle talk between Dick and Rob about the records that play on the system as they go about their business.
I seriously recall walking into a large record store in the 90s with that song playing..there was only one other customer and a bored , half asleep looking store assistant at the counter..I miss being alone in a record store with other lonely males ...music was really a joyous communal thing back then...
I like how the dude picks up his tape from the ground and starts winding it back in. I remember doing that shit when the tape would get all smashed and I had to pull it out to wind it straight inside. Good times!
Colour my life with the Chaos of trouble. 500 days of Summer and High Fidelty..kick ass soundtracks..maybe being heartbroken and sad ...leads to good music.
I discovered Belle & Sebastian from this scene. To this day this is still my favorite album by them. The Boy With The Arab Strap. Great songs like Seymour Stein (playing here), Sleep The Clock Around, and my favorite...Ease Your Feet In The Sea. Awesome!
