by far the best spraying video I've seen so far. High gloss is the most difficult to spray so all this information applies to any other finish as well and you will have near perfect result. Very good job. Love the attention to detail
Magnificent job and well done for an interesting and informative video. You're obviously a LOT more professional than many others posting on the subject of painting MDF.
Watched this as 1st video of your channel. instant sub. This is cadillac work, techniques apply across a broad range of job types, thank you for posting. Grateful algo found your site.
The kitchen cabinets in mt place are MDF, and also unfathomably glossy!I've always wondered if they were done by man or machine. I at least now know man is capable of doin it!! haha Blood amazing job mate, that finished reflection was like a mirror! Even with my love of matte & satin, I'd have that finish! Keep up the craftsman quality! 👍🏼
Tristan Chase yo yo! Thank you mate means a lot 😋 Yeah I love 10/25 more than anything Gloss can de moralise you though. You really have to be on the ball with it!
Hi Robert, thank you for your great and detailed video. Im a very beginner painter however I working on a project and want to achieve a black piano finish. My question is, can I use oil based paint on Mdf or you highly recommend lacquer paint ? Thank you!
This is fantastic can’t wait to try this on a bathroom cabinet I’d like to make. Could you possibly provide in the video description the different products used also I can go buy the same. Thanks
Love the video it’s great to see your work and very informative. I was a little confused with the paint your using and the mixes. Are you using a ac lacquer that has already been pigment and then thinning it down. Or are you mixing it with a base colour yourself?
Hi That's a great Video with full detail.. yes I have a question do you use regular high gloss water base or is it paint with high gloss. And what is the name of the high gloss
That’s fantastic! I know the finish looks ace but does it wear hard from everyday use? I thought I was ok with my Tikki products but this is in a different league! I hate using solvent but I might have to go back to it! Thanks for showing the vid, really informative and well done!
Yo! Ac once fully cured after a month is durable. Especially after machine polishing. With low sheens you don’t want to rub finish to hard because you can 'shine up the finish' but I’m sure this can happen with PU and other paints.
Great video, really helpful. what sort of % are you thinning the A/C and what gun settings are you using tip size , psi? also where do you get the SiaShine i can't find it anywhere in the uk online?
Love this video on painting MDF . Iam doing speakers boxes want high Gloss what kind of paint to used I looking for hard and a deep high Gloss they will be my be around a bit I here that a auto paint 🎨 s the best ????
i'm thinking of finishing an MDF speaker cabinet with this method. What is the first step to prep the MDF? Should i fill any gaps etc? if so, what do you use to fill? sand after filling?
my dressing table is made of the same thing but I want to paint it black what do I do, should I sand down the gloss then paint over it or can I just paint over it ?
Hi, thanks4thisvideo. I have primered my cupboards but still need to sprsy with 2k whute and 2k clear. Ive been told differrnt things aboit waiting and sanding times. So im confused. I have been told that u need to spray the clear 2k over tge whute base colour while its still wet like within an hour but was also told u can spray the base and wait 7 days then spray the clear. U have advuce for me plz when to spra the clear. Also can i sand the 2k clear after applying it as u have done here after the firat layer say after half hour? Plz advise thank u
The only guide on youtube where the MDF comes out like glass. All the others come out with wayy to much orange peel. Going to paint a subwoofer box like this. Thanks
Im here in Canada. Instead of using 2k catalyst, would a conversion varnish do the trick? Don't know too much about 2k over here and hoping you can shed some light. Great video. Thanks
HI, I just buy a new high gloss cabinet kitchen, but the guys that intall it use acetone to give it a finish clean to all, now like 3 of the cabines you can see the trayectory of the wipe they used, then it was imposible to erase all those marks,it's very frustrating, do you have a advise how to clean those wipes trayectories ? Valerie
Can you give me a list of products you used. Iv bought some high gloss doors but different colours so need to respray them and do I need a top coat or just a light sand as already high gloss finish thanks for your help
Great finish Actually I have tried on mdf panel But still waviness is there can you please tell me what product you have used and what process you have done
I seen this video about a year ago, and knew I should have saved it. I have been searching for about two weeks for it. I have talked to the Home Depot people and lowes , and I haven’t been satisfied with their understanding of my description of this process they just gave me the primer and gloss white paint said sand it. I knew there was a lot more to what I am actually wanting. Do you have a step by step, and what paint, kind : brand / and how you mix your thinner the ratio, and what psi setting you have your gun at ? Also, the grades of the paper and discs and what finish steps you are doing.
Indeed look very lovely glossy, thank you for sharing your knowledge and you're skilled. I would like if you know seam paint like a glossy paint that can be just sprayed with a kind of high glossy resulted no such as the one that you show us super high gloss like a mirror but at least a reasonable gloss. thank you very much
good work .I have one question. What is your paint brand ,If i polish the edges it goes deep and damages it with a black line.I have tried more gently it is the same. What i blamed was the 45 degree router bit on the edges, but as I see yours is 45 degree too.Maybe round bit will work better.so we can polish the edges better
As I spray and polish the door myself I know how much paint I put on. You really don’t wanna lean into the edge too much. Just have the polishing head hanging over the edge a touch. I use sherwin Williams (AC LACQUER) PU would be ideal for quicker drying times. Before polishing make sure you’re not going to heavy with 1500g just sanding enough to get door flat. Same situation with wet sand too.
@@gsigeneral thank you brother, Im a fan of your channel from now on.You really are a pro.Unfortunately there is no distribution of Shervin W. in my country,I use ICA coatings italian, and its a hard PU to polish.Have you tried any other brand 2k poly that you were satisfied with ?
Quality content! Were the edges just sealed with the primer? Did they stay as just a gun finish or did you go through the same 1500|2000|compound steps on those too?
