I think this probably played into the gold's hands being on a fragging map rather than a tactical map, for a fragging team. However they did a lot of strategy calls. So good on them.

I think the map pick was a bad decision, having a map that does not require a hard breach. In my opinion a map like coastline heavily favours a team with fragging potential.

KD matters, but it's not everything. A .8KD entry shouldn't entry, but a .8KD support who can always get walls open is obviously doing better. Also, your example of a .9kd gold vs .9kd champ is silly because the .9kd champ is playing far better opponents and would be a much higher KD in gold. Rank + KD + Role is what matters and what tells you if someone is good or not. Also, these plats are pretty awful.

I find it silly, that some supporters say the have a bad KD because they are supporters. Supporters literally have the chance of holding an angle on a breach for 2 minutes and 30 seconds straight.

I think KD matters a lot in ranks up to diamond, at lot of the time ranked games are scrappier rather than more tactical. I prefer to play more of a flex operator especially soft breach like buck and sledge but play more entry operators in ranked due to a lot of people not being able to be relied on in terms of support so often I resort to fragging and droning for teammates as I feel like I am a solid droner and informative person when it comes to map knowledge. Teammates cannot simply be relied on for support and often find themselves with low KD's as a result of not playing their lives or supporting teammates.

I think the issue here is you're putting supports up against fraggers. Their low KD seems to be more of an indication of playstyle rather than skill.

Idk man as a “low kd” diamond 2 with a 1.09 anytime I play against plats I absolutely dog them. These plats should not have lost this and tbh I think most of them don’t deserve their rank. You should be able to smoke the rank below that’s why you are the higher rank bc you are supposed to be better all around wether you play support or frag.

A lot of it is just down to the way Siege's elo system works, it pretty much only looks at wins and losses and nothing else. It's easy for otherwise good players to get stuck in a low rank or vice versa, just based on a win or loss streak early on when elo swings are still so high. I've played in everything from bronze to low plat, and I've genuinely seen bronze players better than these plats. You definitely notice that tactics are more sound at higher elos, but mechanical skill varies by a huge amount.

I think kd does matter, I usually tend to see higher kd players pull the whole weight of team and once they die, they lose the round. But some low kd players can be pretty good support players with great call outs and being able to stop pushes and flanks

Sure kd matter to some extent but at the same time it doesn't... like he said at the beginning I'd take a .9kd champ over a .9 kd gold. But at this point of the game the defuser rarely gets planted so yeah its more of a fragging meta.. so currently kd does mean alot but hasn't always

K/D is the main skill factor in siege. If your tactics are good, it enables for easy frags. Of course, it’s not the only skill, but K/D is a good indicator of how good someone is in general compared to others of their rank

KD doesn’t reflect rank. Teams reflect rank. This is a team game so a solo queue player might have a higher kd but without a strong team they are less likely to have as high of a rank.

Video idea, hear me out: I peaked plat 3 a few seasons back as a player who's never wore a headset, because of a medical condition. That being said, I've played this game for maaaany hours and I've always been ok at it, so I guess it would be interesting to see a team of 'no-headset' players (maybe like gold-plat) against a team of silver 'headset' players. Like in my case, I play on speakers, and I can barely hear footsteps and stuff, and if I do hear them, I can't tell where they're coming from, yet I still outgun many opponents, so it would be interesting to see.

you need to do this but pro league style, everyone can have an amazing game, even silvers, and that also takes the map selection out of the play for you, as if the plats were smart, they would go a map that needs a lot of coordination (for example bank) as they are more coordinated than the golds with default strats

kd is the ability get frags IF the plats have a low kd they would be dying more than they get kills. Therefore it doesn't surprise me that the golds 4-0 the plats.

Yep. KD is a part of of the skill reflection. So if you're playing support in your elo (plat for example), you most likely would be 0,8 to 1.0, if you play in ranks that lower you'll get 1,1+, but if you're playing in ranks much higher than you deserves - you'll get E2 performance.

You can have bad gun skills for many differents reason but till you give good calls, drone your fraggers in, taking part in execution and planting AND you kill opponents on somewhat consistant base your fine. But it's true that if you don't any physical reasons to have bad aim, you probably should work on aim a lot

Super interesting to see. For me being a low kd plat i'd "blame it" on igl-ing in a second language. But doing Igl stuff with support ops and droning for the team id say 0.9kd with 60 ish % win rate is decent. The biggest problem in regards to the plat's is a lack of comms and weird choices, for example "vigil playing so close to site round 1", "that castle set up towards lobby", "not sticking defuse in a stick it or 100% loose situation". For me seeing a rematch on a less "frag heavy" would be interesting to see. Imo siege is about getting 5 kills for hte team per round, and set ups and strats is a part of that (more on some maps)

My viewpoint is always KD doesn’t matter. The main objective isn’t to kill without dying, the objective is plant defuser for attackers or prevent attackers from defusing

And if you play full stack and only play operators like montagne and clash, then everyone else in your team will have a good kd. Unless you're all bad and lose most games. There's no way your team as a whole has a 0.x kd unless you're losing most games. But since most people don't only play operators like montagne and clash, that's no excuse anyway.

KD as a whole doesn't really matter, it certainly is important when looking at a players skill but not the end all be all. I've seen so many games where someone has 10+ kills but still lose. This game is all about team work not individual performance.

The plats that have a lower KD tend to thrive with call-outs and supporting those that can win gunfights. When no one on their team can win their gunfights, they can’t really win their rounds. The map doesn’t help because it’s a frag heavy map too

Kd doesn’t matter when in different ranks? I would say Within 1 rank zones it kind of does matter. A .8 plat 3 and a 1.2 gold I would probably edge towards the gold being better only within 1 rank zones though!

When it comes to KD I think it only 100% matters if you use an operator who is designed to kill. If you play Echo or Maestro you're not needed to get kills. If you play Vigil, however, you're KD should at least be a 1.0 or higher. Same goes for attack.

i always hear siege players saying that someone only has x amount of games played a season and they need more but in my mind that wouldn't affect their rank whatsoever. It doesn't matter how many games you're playing a season if your win rate is consistent, you're still losing/gaining the same amount of elo because you're winning more, but you're still losing the same amount.. you just needa get a better win rate. 100 games a season is far more than enough to get a rank up if you're at that point where u can achieve plat (in the context of the video) but if you're not ranking up after 100 games start playing unranked or something and improve, pick up on other peoples instincts without the fear of your rank going down? it just seems logical to me

KD means everything. That’s your consistency. I used to be a high plat almost diamond every season. I recently in the last year. Threw games and dropped to bronze on purpose. Some games I know when there are noobs and others even the lower rank players have skill and finesse. Ngl I barely notice a difference in gameplay between the ranks… note that I only solo Queue because I don’t care to win anymore. I just join a game and play for fun winning or losing. My kd remains at 1.8 after 200 games played

Typically someone with low kd is usually a supporter/anchor which is good for when you have agro players on your team, but if you put 5 of them together you’re just basically putting all your eggs in one basket. It’s either a hit or miss in a ranked game if you form a team like that

I also think that consistently ranked players rely on strategies that are often used in order to attack/defend. That’s one reason I think that videos/matches like this are so much closer than people anticipate.

High KD golds are usually smurfs, glitch abuser (maybe even cheat), almost never play full squad just to team kill the random 1-2 teammate, screams in mic when the randoms are last standing, rages at random teammates for losing, sweaty, overall toxic while low KD plat rushes with 3 speed ops most attacking round, either holds down main site hard or roam alone, plays for their team to win, only uses mic for callout/ saying "nice" to teammates and "gg" after match win or lose, always chill, overall chad

OF COURSE kd matters bro, what DOESNT matter is rank Most of the time, this is the scenario: Golds - good aim, good movement, may lack some knowledge, no try hards, doesn’t care about playing with a team. Plats - good aim, good movement, most try hard rank in the game, but not always plays in a team (may solo q) Diamonds - good aim, good movement, some try hards, but always plays as team (with known friends etc) idk about champs cause ive never really been there or played with some, but they are really a small minority of players

Tbh.. these plat’s play style, teamplay, or abilities compliment their kd at all, don’t really deserve plat elo if they can’t do anything right at all, like pick one, just a low kd, or bad at everything

KD is like most things in life not black or white but somewhere in between. KD can give you information if you add up other informations like if you take a pro look at his KD and compare it to other pros and see how it differs between the roles or just comparing it to a pro with a certain role to another.

Imma casual player, had 2.0kd+ in three seasons with both of my main account and second account, but I only played nearly 20 matches(or less) in both accounts and hit gold 1 or plat 3(average 1.2 wr) , I muted all my teammates, barely callouts, barely pick hard breach operators, and usually play as a lurker, however i think this is by far where you could reach as a casual player since start from plat 2 most players have better skills and mindset, all you can rely on is teamwork and a bit of luck. But who knows maybe if i try i might able to reach plat 1 with this solo bolo playstyle. KD doesn't matter in gold and low plat in my experience, I often killed three or four enemies yet still lose the round in many many matches and this really kills my motivation. Having better game sense and timing is far more important.

I think a better analogy would be who is better a gold with a 1.2 or a champ with a .9 obviously the champ You said a gold with a .9 or a champ with a .9. I think saying someone with a lower ranked but higher k/d vs a higher rank and lower k/d makes sense, because the higher rank is going against tougher opponents.

The plats were doing so many common mistakes that low ranks do. I think thats why they have low KD. Easy pointers and coaching for them to be better. love it each time
