A favourite of mine, too, Riverbender. A great personality who brought loads of joy to her performances........not to mention those fabulous high kicks she does. I love the clip 'Sing to your Senorita' which I found and added on my channel. Full of life and fun! Thanks for sharing your favourite.
The part was created around Charlotte, but she was unable to break her movie studio contract to appear in the stage version (so the role went to Betty Garde). Thank goodness she was still in fine enough fettle to play Eller in the 1955 film version.
I'm not aware of that show, Donald. Can you give me any more details. I'm sure it was fun and entertaining.....everywhere Charlotte appeared she brought joy and spirit! Thanks for commenting. Charlotte is one of my favourites to watch, her high kicks get me every time!
@@MinstrelSurfer I wrote about Charlotte's performance, as Juno, in OOTW in my 2007 biography CHARLOTTE GREENWOOD: THE LIFE AND CAREER OF THE COMIC STAR OF VAUDEVILLE, RADIO AND FILM (McFarland & Company, Inc.) George Gaynes, then young enough to be her son, played Jupiter in the show. He told me she seemed practically ageless, and every time Porter wrote a new song for her, ticket sales went up. "Had it not been for Greenwood," Gaynes told me, "the show would have closed in a week."
