I typically get 20 mpg out of my '09 V6. Best car I've ever owned. I recall a few years ago on one of the 4Runner forums that an owner of an early 4th gen V6 had racked up 560,000 with normal maintenance and wear items. If someone told me they had 1 mil miles on their 4th gen I would not be at all surprised. Incredible engineering from Toyota.

Love my 2004 4Runner V8, bought when new and 4Runners were affordable. It has 166,000 miles. Though I don't off-road as much as I did in my younger days, this vehicle is fully capable. Both off-road and on-road, as well as towing (up to 7000 lbs) campers and a boat (not at the same time😎). Mine is an SR5, so it doesn't have all the fancy stuff of the Limited, but it has suited me perfectly. I love it!

That’s awesome, those are great vehicles perfectly capable of getting it done. At 166k is just getting broken in. You should check out this other video I did on a v8 with similar mileage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v8USlYEdf-0.html Thank you for watching and sharing your story, It always puts a smile on my face to know others share my passion for these rigs. We just sold my mom's 2006 4th gen 4runner with the 4.7 V8 only because she couldn't get in and out of it anymore. The only repair in 17 years was the gas cap door latch broke. All the rest, just regular maintenance. It sold in 12 hours! I have a 2016 Trail Premium. It's been great so far and just as capable as my Jeep off-road, but way more comfortable. Love the 4 runner!!!❤

The three 4Runners we have owned have all been very reliable but the the one that has been _crazy insane_ reliable despite years of being used hard is our '09 Limited V6 4wd. Still looks and drives like a new car. Gets about 16mpg in the winter, 20mpg summer. Haven't done a thing outside routine maintenance. The design is not as attractive as the later ones but it's still an absolutely outstanding vehicle

I have a 2008 SR5 4runner with the 4.0 V6, and it currently runs perfect at 270,000 miles. Same engine, and transmission and I drive it hard and pull a trailer all the time. My Dad just recently bought a 2005 limited 4runner V8 with 300,000 and it runs even smoother than mine, and that's hard to believe because mine runs like a sewing machine. That V8 they say is 1,000,000 mile engine; its just so smoooooooth!!!!

My Tacoma had the manufacturer defect where DANA Corporation didn't corrosion proof the frame, so it rusted through at 90.000 miles. Toyota did NOTHING for me but laugh at my misfortune. My 2007 V8 recently started sounding like Tow Mater and it only has 375,000 miles. After removing my RAD RUBBER splash guard to have a look I see that the manifold is cracked on the pass side and the fumes are entering the cab.I cannot see through the heat shield, therefore cannot determine just how bad its cracked. Everything works fine but my MPG tanked to 13 MPG. What would be your recommendation to fix it without spending over $500??? I just keep rabbit holing into aftermarket manifolds and new exhaust that would make it soooo BA. But, I don't want to put the $$ into a high mileage Runner when I could have a down pmt for the 6th gen. Pls Advise.

For an average Joe with little car repair experience, even a 4runner I would stay away from anything above 150k miles. Although they are very reliable, they do have a few idiosyncrasies. Just make sure it comes with an excellent service records. My best advice.

That’s awesome, Portugal is always a good choice although my statement is obviously biased. In all seriousness I’ve lived in the USA longer then I did in Portugal but I seem to always go back. Good food, good wine, friendly people and most importantly landscapes that will take your breath away. What’s your favorite place to go in Portugal?
