bike looks amazing. this white looks good. would look sick if the rim logos were red like F1 when they have the softs on. I look forward to seeing you dominate this year!!
Dude, I love your charisma and excitement!!!! I am a 50 year old who is just getting back into BMX's. I haven't owned a BMX since 1990 (1988 Haro Group 1 RS1). Ive been wanting for years to buy an old bike and restore it. Well since November Ive bought 5 bikes. After I bought the first bike Ive been super stoked. My baby is the 4th bike I bought. Its a 1999 Norco Spitfire 24 Cruiser. There is virtually no information on the net. From what I gather this was a team issue bike and I have only been able to track one other down and its just a frame and fork set. Well after watching this video it just gets me super pumped up to get working on my SE Bronco that Im restoring. Oh ya......That new bike is one of the best looking bikes Ive ever seen
@@barrynobles95 Definately....Right now I got all Mid Schools. 2001 Free Agent Air Strike, 2004 SE Racing Bronco, 2002 Diamondback Grind, 2004 Schwinn Z-Force and 1999 Norco Spitfire 24. The local shop up here in Canada is a Chase and Race Inc dealer. Man I love those bikes. Got my eye on one of the Chase Edge XXLs he has
I used to race an Auburn. I had one of the coolest bikes at Coal Canyon BMX in California. Answer forks and bars, profiles with the imperial chainring of course, i forget what kind if wheels they were but they were anodized purple with flames all the way around. Might have been odessy. That bike makes my 21 pound Auburn look like a plastic fisher price bike. Raced Horsemans a lot too. ABA and NBL depending on where i was racing. I had a 24 inch Robinson sst too.
Man, I remember back when my all chromoly/steel GT was the pinnacle of race bikes 😆. Then I upgraded to my 1997 Trek Y-Issue bike (Wade Bootes) with Marzocchi forks, Powerlite Powerbend bars, Wellgo pedals. All the good stuff lol. I still have that bike 👍. Hard to believe it's almost 30 years old.
And i thought i had a nice bike back in 1990. Cycle Craft Pro XL, Profile cranks, DK neck, Hutch bear trap peds. Your bike looks like a fuckin spaceship compared to our bikes back in the day. I'm 47 now but you inspire me to want to get back out on the track.
Great Vid!! And sick bike!! Curious wat is the diff tween Element, Edge and RSP 4.0? i know urs is carbon but wats diff tween those 3 frames? thanx in advance!! i need cruiser not 20"
Barry I have question for you. I'm racing a 24" floval flyer and I having answer carbon fiber rims built with ti spokes and profile hubs with everything that can be on the hub titanium too. But what I couldn't find is black 24" Ti spokes for my 24" carbon fiber rims. Source BMX says they do but only for 20" wheels and the only other place I couldn't find was LUX BMX which I think I can get there buy not until after my rims are built and I don't want to wait. So i'm going with Ti natural color for now then find the black and have them re-spoked I guess. Waste of money but i like what I like all blacked out. Anyways wondering if you know of any other of places that sell longer than 20" black ti spokes like 24" black Ti spokes? Thanks, also fun to watch you race. This old man use to tear it up as a kid 12- 13 in Portland oregon back in the day and mid-life crisis im getting back into racing the 50 over cruiser division this spring summer and fall. I'm racing twice a weekend maybe more. I'm getting after it
Barry what inner tubes do you run? Was thinking of trying out those Tubolito's since they're so light but wondering if there's an alternative option that isn't literally $40 a tube
Hey just wondering g if you could recommend tyres & size tyres for my 24” Cruiser . I currently run maxxis on the front & tioga power block on the back. I’d like to run Maxxis on the back as well but not sure what size & name of tyre to order. I’m around 100kgs . I don’t race anymore but the bike is setup for racing & I’d like it to look six & ride well.
Wish I had the bones for a bike like that, but I'm looking at one of their more affordable models since I am (some say I'm crazy) looking to race BMX for the first time since 1985 (I raced for 10 years prior to that). However, getting a bike is the easy part of this journey. I am in the process of reawakening my muscle memory (the process of which is funny. I visited a beginner pump track in Temecula yesterday. It was a laugh riot), setting goals, and gettting this 56 year old body back into shape. In the meantime, I am in the process of building a 20 incher from VERY used and spray painted bikes I recently acquired which were found in an old storage unit. I'll use what I can and buy the remaining components. I need to justify being able to afford a kick ass machine.
@@willowwonderbull7100 Yeah, for me it's about getting this butt into shape. Getting covid a few weeks ago was a wake up call. While I was quarantined in my tv room/den, a vintage video of 1970s BMX appeared on my recommended list. It became a deep rabbit hole and it reignited my old love for BMX. then I watched the Sooner Nationals live on RU-vid. Seeing dudes and gals my age lit a fire under me. If they can do that, then I have no excuse to not do so as well. I figure if I TRAIN for my first race, then losing weight and increasing my stamina will naturally follow. I tried ordering a Chase Edge Pro XXL yesterday, but their finance company shut me out because they couldn't verify my identity. However, Mongoose had no problems verifying my identity, so I settled for a Title Pro XXL. At least the bike is cheaper, so I can afford the needed upgrades. Now I need to pony up for a helmet and USA BMX membership. This is getting to be expensive. LOL. I also hate stationary bikes, but for now, doing HIIT on them at the gym will get my legs burning and my cardio-pulmonary system in better shape so my first daybon the track won't be a total disaster.
Not sure if I’m the first to say it to you but I’m proud of you for getting back into it! You’re going to have a blast. I’m 36 and just now getting back it myself after 15+ years of not racing. Good luck to you, my friend! Splurge on a bike you really want if you got a little extra cash. Life is short. Treat yourself
@@presceltolives2076 Thanks, man. Yeah... I splurged in a bike: not the one I REALLY wanted (most bikes are out of stock -- I guess because of supply chain issues), so I settled for a bike that is goid quality, but requires some modification: a Mongoose Title Pro XXL. My first BMX bike was an Ashtabula, but it was HEAVY. after a couple years, I got a Mongoose Motomag in 1978. I figure some new pedals (due to be delivered today, new forks (these are HiTen), and a new seat/seat post and I'll be golden for a while. Just need something decent to start out with... but I am a lifelong gear junkie and am always looking for things to improve. I'm hoping to be in my first race sometime in June. I have a lot of skill which I lost and really need to get into better shape so my first time out isn't a total embarrassment. Gonna hit the track at Perris, CA, which is the closest to me. Oh... click on my profile. It should take you to my channel where I posted a video about this the other day.
@@genetrosper5834 maybe someday I’ll come down to your track and race beside you! I’m out in Napa, Ca. Are you going to stick with platform pedals or are you thinking of going with clips? Nice pick with the Mongoose 👍👍 my brother just bought the first bmx bike he ever got as a kid. He found it on eBay- a Mongoose SGX! It’s pretty sweet. Are you going to go with any carbon parts? Ikon carbon rims perhaps? Carbon forks? I just splurged on carbon forks, and wheels. Haven’t put my bike together yet. Can’t wait to get back to the track for the first time in god knows how many years! I’m nervous but super stoked! Be safe out there and enjoy these days. The world has gone bonkers and this bmx stuff will be a nice outlet to get our minds off all the craziness. God speed and God bless!
Looking to get back into BMX racing. Last time I raced I was a kid. Any recommendations on what bike to get 20in vs 24in, etc? I currently mtb and still have jumping skills and such.
NOW THATS A BEAUTIFUL BIKE - LOVE THAT F/F - if i had spare cash , id get one of these and i dont even race - i was just on the website , around $1900 f/f
What size frame you run? My Race bike and Freestyle bike have about same TT, but pulling up on my Race BMX for bunny hops and manuals is way tougher on my Race bmx. I'm 5'8" with a Pro XL Chase Edge
If this was my bike I would put a white fork on it and switch the front rim for a teal one but keep the rest the same so it would have a nice balance between white and teal.
Im getting back into BMX racing I have the chase rsp 4.0 I switched from a dk I'm loving my chase bike I'm never going back to dk in hoping to get sponsored by chase I'm going to work hard and give 1000 prevent when I'm on track
