I found a 1971 D with a Misplaced mint mark and set it aside because I wondered why it was so low. Now I have to search which bag of clad coins I put it in 🤣 ! Thanks for the knowledge. So awesome
I think the only people who could get that properly slabbed would be somebody like Fred Weinberg or Sullivan. I know even after 30+ years of doing this business and having it as a hobby mainly. If I were to send that in they would not mark the slab correctly.
I've been collecting on and off over the yrs and starting to get back into it. After watching this video I went back over all my 1971D Jefferson nichols, not only did I find the coins in the video that sold for a lot, but I just discovered something so unique to these coins that after they're sold at auction it will be in the cherry picker guides! What I have will probably sale at auction for 100k-250k easily! And if it happens for me, I'm going to give some of the money to you for posting this video, because if not for it I would've totally missed this huge discovery, so thank you!
Hi Shaun , Great show , more knowledge and abit disappointed ( in myself). I believe I sold the 71 D for the 2 bucks , hoped it would fetch more but... , guess I should have put it on a buy now for more. It was in VG condition but I still being new didn`t realize it might have been a better catch than I realized. But , on the flip side , they got a nice deal .. Thank you and Keep on keepin on brother.
I have some that look low compared to other nickels. I'm not sure if they would actually grade that way or not. I'm going to have to pay way more attention to the 70's nickels now. lol
Just 4 hours ago I received the 1970 S mintmark in the wrong place from a gambling machine as change. There is also doubling in the S and errors on the back of it as well. Steps are however gone. Any advice on how to go about the grading process would be appreciated. I inherited a collection 20 years ago and sold low. Got another one but not as good but about to try to start selling the rarer varieties
Thanks for the videos. Found one of the 75 d a year ago after watching one of your earlier videos on the topic. Unfortunately it is low grade with environmental damage
Hi Bud... Your video has been real helpful to me I'm stuck in the house I have a lot of change I'm just going through it found a lot of weird and cool stuff..... Could I ask you a quick question have you ever seen a 1979 nickel It's beat up it's like black-Ish and Red-Ish Shade ... It Is felt lighter to my hand to touch Then the other nickels I was going through... Turn out it was 4.7/gm ... Taking it off with the scale I accidentally drop it I hear what sounds to be silver to me it had a different sort of ting... I've had jewelry my whole life gold silver all types of stuff Bars earrings coins like quarters not not serious .. Do they make them out of any other metal I don't think at 1979 would be made out of silver right Maybe some kind of tenor something like they messed something up somehow cause it's definitely not a regular alloy that they mix
I guess I was just wondering if you ever hear this and do you know maybe what metal it could be in is it even worked anything... If you are unsure it's OK thank you for helping anyway.. I just know it's not the regular nickel material because it's really odd sounding it's got a real weird ting
I have a few of the 71 Denver and 8-10 of the 70 Frisco. Put them away years ago because I didn't have any info on them. Probably have some of the 73 also stashed. Thanks Just found the 73s I put away.
I have a 73 D low mint. Mine is almost touching the rim of the coin. Mint state is not the best but its not terrible either. Im definitley going to auction it off.
Hi. On that $49.99, with the 1973 the number 3 looks like it's more on the top of coin edge. Is that normal? I guess it's likely a dumb question since you didn't say anything about it. I've got the odd coin that does this. Ive been wondering if maybe they aren't stamped quite right. ? 😊
No one has to believe me but about a year and a half ago I had noticed a difference in a 1971 Jefferson Denver in the mint mark was not normal. Here's how I know. When a bank wants to teach it's tellers how to spot counterfeit bills they train them with real money. That's all they ever see is real money in this training and when something odd comes through it is spotted immediately. I've been going through Jefferson nickel boxes for a long time 20 plus years matter of fact and a 71 d came through and the day was almost up against his last part of the tie on his wig for like a better reference. Well about a week ago, I saw reference to 1971 d misplacement mark selling for 100 plus dollars. I'm just saying I knew I wasn't crazy and I knew I saw something different long before I saw any reference to it.
I got the 1973-D $5.00 Jefferson coming from ebay. The other Jefferson nickels are gone. I went thru this in the 1980's with the buffalo nickels errors.
I have some of these 71,72,73 d nickels with the low mint mark but I also came across 3 1969 D nickels 2 with low mint mark and 1 mint mark where it should be
That's my problem... it seems that every 1970's nickel, that I've been coming across, are without steps. The ones I've been keeping are Doulbed Dies, but the steps are flat. It seems that the 70S was a rough time for Nickels... and Quarters.
I have a 1970 Nickel that has a misplaced mint mark. I have been looking for where they have misplaced it to is that an error for a 1970Nickel with no mint mark because I have found one today and I have been looking but I can't find anything on a missing mint mark information please
While/after watching this I dug out my 1960s and 1970s nickel stash and looked through. I found 9 total. 1 - 1969 D, 3 - 1970 D, 1 - 1970 S, 1 - 1971 D, and 3 - 1973 D. All range from VF to XF. Awesome information. Thanks.
