I picked up the Bludento B2 on their site for $100 and got an additional $10 off. I like the idea of having the screen. I'll be connecting to my Harmon Kardon. I almost picked up the Harmon Kardon BTA-10 on ebay, but that's much older and out of production. Just figured I got more for my money this route.

Good for you, you dodged a bullet by not getting the HK. The HK WAS a good device back in the day as most Bluetooth devices back then sounded bad. However compared to modern devices, its like comparing a 78rpm Victrola record to a CD. I hope you enjoy the B2. Cheers

I have the Bludento BLT 2 which was under £50 direct from China and I think it’s very good. Not quite up to CD or vinyl quality but still very musical and a steal for the money. You need to use better RCA interconnections than the ones provided to get the best out of it though. The only drawback is if someone else has been connected to it and I want to use it then they have to manually disconnect first. Looks like that problem has been fixed though with the ones that you are reviewing so maybe it’s time to buy the newer version but it’s almost 3 times the price of mine. Perhaps I should buy the iFi Zen which has great reviews and is built in the UK as far as I understand.

The Zen is manufactured in Chy-Na.. designed in the UK. I like the Zen, BLT-HD, BluMe devices for top notch audio. Upgraded RCAs might sound better at runs over 10ft, short cables not so much IMHO

Can you explain how these devices are similar or different in functionality compared to a receiver that looks like a typical receiver, for example Sony STRDH190 2-ch Stereo Receiver with Phono Inputs and Bluetooth Audio Component? Our new home has existing in-ceiling speakers and I want to learn about options for a receiver. I listen to am/fm radio, cds, and digital media (mp3s, google home). I bet just one of them slugs you have for you're Bird 43 cost more than any single device there. Nice video... Got a NEC projector I am using for outdoor events so I think I want to go wireless. Need a device that has 90 to 100dB (SNR) On the RCA line level. Range does not matter. Easy to obtain all the R.F. gain I need by building a pair helical antennas. Hell, maybe I will drag out an old pair of Marty STL TX/RX rack units. I can always use USB for left CH and LSB for right., LOL! Good separation... Boy they knew how to build great loud speakers and Amplifiers back in the 60s 70s but had no clue how to keep the gain structure up without dragging all that noise up in the mix. The old reel to reels and dragons at best were 78dB (STR) Now the cool thing is use the old mc-2100 McIntosh amps in mono block configuration with a pair of JBL L-222 Discos hooked up to a cd player that most will easily do 100 dB (SNR) and none of the new or old generation heard music this great because they do not build wonderful amps or speakers for the average consumer and the old cats never had a medium this high to work the good stuff... Gotta love the old junk. And it all still works providing one changes all the electrolytic caps out., HAHA, awesome job on the video...Very best wishes and 73,

I want to get my music from my phone (deezer - flac) to my HQ DAC. At the moment I'm using a streaming device: the rca connection (direct to the amplifier) is terrible; the optical output gives HQ but the volume can't be controlled. Q1: If one of the mentioned bluetooth receivers is connected with an optical cable to the DAC: will there be loss of quality, compared to using a streaming device? Q2: Can the volume be controlled by the app on the phone, even when the optical out is used between receiver and dac?

would be nice if you can test the Frequency Response of each unit and compare sound
@breakerbroke23
@breakerbroke23 Год назад
I have some videos that show the difference between certain devices. Freq response is generally 10-20K and killer S/N ratios ( over 100dB ) and pre out level out is 2.0+ volts. I honestly don't give factory specs much consideration, I use my ears. Back in the day we had great sounding stereo receivers, great dynamic sound and real power (20-20K both ch driven) However manufacturers wanted to save money, made the stereo cheaper and disguised it as better specs. With distortion ratings like .001% THD, and bogus power ratings that are measured at 1000hZ and one ch driven. Great way to give a sense of more power and less distortion. However this not true hence the modern AV receiver sound:( Manufacturers liked cutting cost of each unit built, more profits!! and last but not least..... Shipping weights, yes it costs a lot to ship product from overseas. Crazy huh? Sorry for rambling on my friend.

I’ve been using the Audioengine B1 for several months and am absolutely blown away by the sound quality and convenience streaming from my iPad. Music is more enjoyable because I have millions of songs easily called up from my chair using Apple Music and Amazon music. Will the iFi unit sound noticeably better? Would it be an upgrade or not really? I am using the optical output to my receiver (about a $9K setup with the speakers).
@breakerbroke23

@breakerbroke23

Great question... I would try the 1MII and see what you think. This is how I would start... Hook uo your DAC to a RCA input to your amp or preamp/receiver, then hook your 1MII's OPT or COAX to the input of the DAC100. Now take the RCA out from the 1MII and plug that into another RCA input to your amp or preamp/receiver. Doing this will allow you to switch inputs on the amp/preamp/receiver and see what sounds best to you. If your no happy with the sound then I would maybe upgrade BT receiver like the BluMe PRO. IMHO... The best sounding BT receiver is the one that makes you happy. Cheers

What high gain antenna can I use for my B2 Bludento to go through the wall of a metal building to mount outside? Thanks!
@breakerbroke23
@breakerbroke23 11 месяцев назад
BT (Bluetooth) is radio, so understand radio signals have a hard time going through Sheetrock/brick walls so metal is going to be a real tough one. Since BT is on the same frequencies as WiFi you could get a bigger/higher gain antenna used for routers, But first you could try mounting the BT device up high on a shelf away from the wall, put the BT device near or in front a window, I would try different locations before spending money on antennas and coax. IMO I have seen "high gain" antennas that do not perform as advertised , it can be a crap shoot on their quality. Good thing is that your device has a SMA coax connector so it will allow you some flexibility for antenna add-ons if needed.
