Thanks for watching! i hope you enjoyed my video. smoke control system video • Fire smoke exhaust and... moving portable video • Moving school portable... Music I use: www.bensound.com License code: WW6QPKTBLI4QQRHR
@@michaelhansbury5765 I have a tour of the main electrical room and distribution but there's too much to go over for an entire video it would be two days long
I miss doing fire alarm testing. It was also so much fun to set it off. Unfortunately I only ever did call points and not the smoke/heat due to not having the required equipment. But those were always tested annually by the FA company from what I remember.
My high school and all schools in my school board have an big battery thing! That powers all emergency lights for 30 minutes in my school and other schools is 30 minutes to 1 hour! Weird they dont have generators! We had an power outage last school year in science a whole portion upstairs failed! But they were on for 30 minutes
About what you said about beam detectors, I’m still surprised they didn’t go with them cause there’s a library near me that has around 10 of them in areas that get lots of different angles of broad sunlight and they’re fine
@NIC'S - SYSTEMS & ELECTRIC is there a video coming on the smoke control system of the high school with the roof top atrium exhaust fans that you posted a picture of on insta?
Canadian school design is really something unique with the high school fire system nic I got to ask has the fire alarm sounded during classes by someone setting it off from a prank
I have videos of it there's probably at least three or four videos of false alarms at the school there's been probably at least 10 in my time at the school
No wasn't needed was ran for such a small amount of time and propane does not cause the same amount of CO as gas therefore why you see forklifts used inside spaces lots
Curious: Are you gonna come back to fire alarm work after or during college? I’m about to work with mine for fire drills. I may record it. Its a combination of EST and Notifier. Only the newest or most recently renovated buildings have Notifier though. Everything else is EST.
I could try, but I don't like to spread misinformation around. I don't have training on dust extraction systems, so I'm not the best person to be given knowledge on them. I have brief understanding of how they operate when it comes to troubleshooting them. They are no different than many other types of motor control systems you'll find but I don't know the details. Each one is a little bit different and engineers will have different requirements depending on the install
Yeah we have thought about it, it's just trying to find a perfect time of year where you're not going to completely overpower the heating system by sucking in tons of cold air and not overwhelming the cooling system pulling in hot air if we had a drill at a perfect time of year And we were in the right mood we could that just doesn't lineup very often lol
Is that red stick have a can of spray or smoke that when you press it agenst the detector the spray is released or is the detector the kind when its confined it will set off like a house detector
Isn’t there usually a smoke at the top of each elevator shaft? (In addition to the one in the machine room, I mean a smoke directly in the shaft itself)
It will vary depending on where you are it was a couple year process for us to go through different proposals and get building permits and then various inspections
that is one hell of a fancy school none of the schools around here are that advanced there is no air exhaust system and the windows dont even open in any of the classrooms they are all sealed becuase of cold winters and such and sense school ends just as it gets warm they were never made to open all we have is reguler fire alarms and then about every 20 feet biug heavyt metal fire dores held back by magnets close to isolate fires from spreading matter of fact the schools dont even have HVAC sytstems so there is zero air circulation they are to old they were build before that was a standerd all of our heating is through big boilers with radiators so they never needed hvac
10:50 correct me if im wrong. Is that yellow bar there for any other reason other than to stop someone walking directly in front of those fans when running? I mean who would want to be in there when those are running becauae just the noise alone is enough to make your ears bleed.
@@nics-systems-electricI take it that there is a micro switch somewhere that cuts the power out if you lean on it to stop you getting pulled in too eh?
@@Coolsecretspy420 no there is no shutting these down disconnect is locked on too just gotta use common sense if you get pulled in well then you're done
thats crazy they are using Fiber optics now, is that for Latency Purposes utilizing speed of light and not just Bandwidth reasons? I dont see a FACP needing Fiber Optics like bandwidth of gigabit and so forth. I know Electrical voltage travels at slightly less than Speed of Light.
Systems can be networked together with copper or fibre this school does not need that much speed however voice systems that are pushing live voice over network need to be somewhat quick
@@nics-systems-electric oh i fully understand voice networks and etc etc, but specifically for the FACP. so is the FACP able to send voice instructions? and a direct voice access for special instructions during a incident? I mean VoIP clarity only requires a 256 Kilobit upto 2048 KBit codec to hear a voice over a bullhorn as clearly as me yelling it to you. I do IT myself and have been for just over 21 years. FACP's are something I take interest in, but never got into them. so seeing full fledged Fiber Networks for FACP Dedicated systems is a new one for me. I assumed it was specifically for latency, as Fiber is actually faster than copper as far as signal latency goes ( you lose about 1-2 ms for conversion from ONT to copper PCB and overhead processing ) but that 1-2ms makes up more than enough using Ethernet or RJ-11 through RJ45 jacks as the signals travel physically slower as RF Voltage rather than Light Pulses.
My brain just can't accept those folded tables and chairs - especially when looking down on them from above. I know that part of the problem is the fact that I've never seen anything like them before.
My middle school had an NFS 320 fire alarm panel, and it wasn’t synced either. They all seem a bit problematic with larger systems. That one was also slightly older I think. The devices I saw were NBG-12LX (pull) FSP-851 (smoke) PC2W (classroom horn/strobe) P2W (music room, gym and stairway horn/strobe) SW (strobe for closets and small spaces) SCW (bathroom strobes) P2RK (outdoor horn/strobes.) There was also a white multi-candela SpectrAlert Classic outdoors next to the front entrance for some reason. It seemed very out of place, and was definitely older! There were also a few disused Wheelock 34t-24DC horns and an old bell in the gym from a previous system. Someone threw a ball at the disused bell and broke the gong off. Only an electrical box remains there now.
Because it's not accessible to general staff and definitely not students it's pretty restricted area on the fourth floor you would still think there would be something but nobody goes up there other than those who know what they're doing maybe a grill would compromise airflow too much
Ever since watching your videos I've learnt so much about fire alarm aystems and how totally different they are from the UK. I'm in BC at the moment on Holiday and have been paying more attention to the fire alarm components I can see and identifying them thanks to your videos. @nics-systems-electric
Some people find them scary. I don't mind them. They do feel more intimidating outside in the wind but if they are on solid ground and inside they are pretty stable.
