The only redundancy is emergency lighting as it's not needed when the generator is there however it's still nice to still have light during the 20 seconds before the generator starts as it allows me to still move around and stop whatever I'm doing safely
@@nics-systems-electricI have a demo system in my room - one board , messy and two systems in my house one basement and one my bedroom and the one in my bedroom is the P2R/W L on code 3 no sync module but the P2R/Wls don’t need sync modules on 2 devices
Some people would say having commercial-grade safety systems installed in a residential structure is redundant and unnecessary. Way i see it as thats probably the most fire safe house in your county, and its your house, you do what you want with it. I would love to do something like this myself to my house honestly. Problem is i dont own one yet 😂. At the bare minimum if that equipment never really helps you in an incident [though I know at least the power backup and emergency lighting systems have], the experience and knowledge gained from doing all that work - very clean and professionally done by the way - is more valuable than all of the equipment monetary costs combined. Love to see it. Be back for the next one.
Would like to see the security system tested on the garage I recently installed a DSC NEO on my house and would like to see testing to see how you do it. This could be a separate video. Thank You
Regarding your comment about your generator videos: I actually discovered your channel through that content as opposed to your more popular FA videos. I’d love to see more.
Hi Nic, is there a use case and/ or method of generator being monitored for it starts up like in a building when the power goes out and the generator like supervisory condition ? I enjoy your videos.
Yeah it's a requirement for generators supplying life safety power for a fully legal generator it needs to be supervised for running as well as low fuel and other trouble conditions in order for it to be considered a legal power source that will change your fire alarm battery calculations
Would it be possible to enable audible silence on just the chime strobe? Maybe it would be nice to know if the garage building is still in alarm without the noise after you silence it.
09:25 For a second I thought your Garage Building B fire alarm system went off again from a detector that randomly activated like from last time but it turns out it's from the System Sensor P2W horn strobe installed in some sort of storage room of your house where that exit sign is as it kinda creates confusion when you're outside and the fire alarm goes in in the garage or in the house as it's confusing of which system activated as to better avoid that confusion replace the P2W with an L-Series set on the 3K tone because it allows you to tell the difference of which System activated but in a minor part of your house when you're outside as the 3K tone isn't needed on the garage System because they're a major part of the building. And this can be useful to tell the difference if both systems activated at the same time
You should make it so that when you silence the garage system, the chime strobe silences but the amber strobe keeps flashing until the garage system is reset.
@@nics-systems-electric Almost all openers (except some of the latest models) just use dry contacts for the wall button. Add a magnetic reed switch (to tell if the door is closed or not) and then a relay could activate the button. That should be reliable enough but won't work if the door is only partially open. A more reliable way could be to hold the safety sensor circuit open while the alarm is active and pulse the button. That should only fail if the door is already moving the moment the alarm comes in.
@@nics-systems-electric You must have one of those super-new ones then. You could still solder a pair of wires across the actual button in the controller if you really wanted to.
If i was you i would keep the 2 in main foyer of garage and washroom and the generator and outside and get rid of the non needed ones and you most Definitely need one in Furnace/Fire Alarm Panel Room
Hi, I have an NFS 320 notifier fire alarm panel with 138 smoke detectors and 25 modules. Now my panel is showing multiple trouble"INVERB". The same device showing "inverb" trouble blinks a green colour as a normal device, sometimes the same device blinks a red colour and sometimes the same device keeps the LED red in colour. Could you please suggest to me your expert advice?
@@nics-systems-electric Just looking at the panel's manual. And what I found on Page 12 of the manual, it says that when it is flashing "Signals Silenced" like that it means that there are some outputs that are off and some that are on. And that's due to the fact that you have the NAC 3 set on something else so right now it is not energized with an Alarm state like NAC 1 & 2 are.
For May 1st inspection have somebody help you with the testing. And set the house in the garage off at the same time. The second person will pull one on the inside switches. Why you do the other
Nick Are you going to place a switch after the fuse holder to prevent electric shock when plugging the the fuse back in to restore from testing the generator.
I know you did a tutorial of how to wire a pull station non addressable to a horn strobe but could you possibly do another but with a non addressable fire light dual action pull station and a different horn strobe?
@@nics-systems-electric your just like me then, i pretend, act, and think im a fire marshall, but in reality im just an unpaid assistant, but the thing i get "paid" with gifts do :/
@@CJP_Productions I don't pretend to be a fire marshal i've never claimed to be one. I am apprentice electrician that's what I do. depending on the company you're with you will often be handling lots of fire alarm as an electrician and working closely with technicians.
Why did you replace your Led alarm back to the strobe and I expected you replaced your advances in the building with L series Strobes and also you have a bathroom in your house are you gonna put a remote strobe in there
@@Corwin09-ji8sx you asked so I told you... currently almost all of British Columbia is at very low or low danger rating however that has nothing to do with my April fools video.
