He gets a little obnoxious because of his ego and gets emotional. 100x Better than say a Tony G who will act the same way, only after he beats you, not after he loses. Phil is regarded by the poker community as a really nice guy. I don't see how anyone couldn't like the dude
Despite his poker persona, Phil seems like one of the nicest guys who has really found a balance between poker and a good life. It's nice to see a poker player have a normal home life with balance.
+TissDiss Lots of players said that Phil is extremely nice not playing. Also, I would argue that 95% of his outbursts are all for TV time and ratings. He has gone overboard though legitimately (Dragomir) but all in all, not a bad guy.
Hard to imagine growing up with Phil for your dad. You know, with him constantly hollering into the distance ever time you screw up, "Hey honey, guess what this idiot did. Kid can't even spell poker." XD
I think on of my favorite things he's ever "yelled" is..."honey, 🍯 I was supposed to go broke on that ✋ hand, but they forget one thing...I can Dodge bullets baby, I was hoping I wouldn't have to make that lay down, at the world series of poker..on the first day..ya know what I mean"....I die every time I hear that clip
Can't reply to pre-Google+ comments, but in reply to those who think this place is dumpy: Unlike most poker pros, Phil doesn't live in Las Vegas. He's in Palo Alto, California, a city which is upscale even for Silicon Valley, which in general has the highest property values in the country. This house is worth AT LEAST as much as the McMansions you see the Vegas crowd living in, and very probably more. He also has kids. The place is not gonna be tidy. That Phil didn't tear this house down and build a huge monstrosity that takes up his entire lot shows he actually has considerable taste.
no matter how much people put him down nowadays just one look at all of his achievements and finishes and you realize wow hes still one of the best...and he has a lot of more years in front of him God knows how much more hes gonna do, good job Phil!!
I agree... I can understand people being annoyed by him but I think he is fucking great.... What other team/player do you enjoy when they win and lose?
just like i imagined, lot's of things he's proud of because they were given to him by someone special and a atleast 5 pictures of himself in every room xD
I like the video because it shows that for phil, it's not about having the largest or best house. There are other non-material things that are more important to him, for example remembering the good old times
Thats prolly a $5+ million house in palo alto/silicon valley .. median home price in palo alto is $1.77 mil, crescent valley nearby median home price is like $3.5 mil
I don't think they are, I'm a pretty laid back person but some reason why I play poker I take it so serious and personally that I've been in his place and know exactly how he feels and have personally had some of those rants
"I have to have quality clothing." Then he states "IMy picture is going to be on the cover of 12 million beer cans." "Which beer?" "Milwaukee's Best!" I guess Phil cares about the quality of clothing, but couldn't care less about the quality of his beer! lol

No you need to actually listen to his ramblings. He says that 3 years ago they've been there for 8 years. That equals 11 years. Pretty close to how long he's actually lived there.
Phil is actually a cool and normal guy, maybe a little arrogant sometimes but hell, he's got 11 bracelets afterall and also a good poker player. People see on youtube only videos of him freaking out so of course most get the thinking that's he sucks. You should watch some full episodes of him playing.

that is the first time Ive ever seen a person show every one of their pictures and show all of his trophies that he's won while he's showing his house lol. I personally know people making way less than you and have a bigger house. You blow millions on cash games, I was just expecting a bigger house
this is not high stake living...but if it is, then I guess phil didn't change his lifestyle from his earlier life. It isn't a bad thing but for me...I gotta upgrade the size of this house that would be a no brainer.

Don't get me wrong, his place is nice, but I would have thought his place would be A BIT bigger/more extravagent....I guess he's a bit more mature and better with money than I would be :)
So if you'd be rich, you'd want a giant mansion that you wouldn't do anything with? What are you, 15? Of the 20 rooms in that shining mansion you'd use 4 or 5. Hellmuth's house looks like something someone lives at.
