I was in law enforcement for 37 years, and I carried a High Standard like that one in my patrol car. Later our department traded it to our supplier with some other firearms to new shotguns, and I was able to purchase it from our supplier. Still shoot it periodically.

@@randycraite7374 Hi, the milled cuts on the front corners of the receiver indicates that it's a 1968 or earlier; and no serial numbers before 1968. Later models don't have the milled receivers for cost cutting. My favorite riot gun. Check out this well done presentation. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EzLiRFpUsr0.html

Synthetic plastic vs solid wood and steel no contest in my mind either ,there's nothing like the feel of a nicely polished 870 wing master or any of the dozens of models and makes of classic wood shotguns. They're heavier but that's partly the point. Having a plastic shotgun just feels wrong for so many reasons. My first was a 20 Guage pardner single shot. My second was a mossberg .500 but I've been wanting a 870 12 or 20 Guage wingmaster all slicked up the perfect shotgun in my mind

I just went dove hunting with my dad's Remington Model 31. As I recall, he probably got it in the early 1960's and I had inherited it back in the early 80's when he passed away. It is a 12 ga. and had a 30" full choke barrel, which did not make it too useful for my purposes. I finally started looking at used barrels on eBay and purchased a factory original 28" barrel with a Poly-Choke. After some searching on RU-vid, I was able to break it down and gave the shotgun a thorough cleaning, probably the first in its life. That Model 31 action is like butta'! On researching the proof marks, I discovered that the shotgun was manufactured in Sept. 1949. That's when I was born. The barrel was manufactured in Nov. 1948 and the Poly-Choke installed in Nov. 1950. It makes me smile while I now use this beautiful old family heirloom. I am not a great wingshot, but I had my best day of dove hunting ever with my dad's old shotgun.

I have a J. C. Higgins model 20 that was made by High Standard for Sears back in the day. They were “spruced up” versions of the 1200, with jeweled bolts and a Power-Pak that came with three chokes. These are excellent shotguns and highly underrated. @@357-swagnumultramagax9 I live in a little town and we got wrecked. The police hadn’t anticipated mass vandalism and violence out of nowhere, because every shop got looted and a car got torched while some scared looking deputies held shields. I watched all this on live news and loaded up while the crowd approached our home. A few stragglers in masks walked by my property, saw me, then kept walking since they didn’t have a crowd to protect them. I’m grateful the crowd didn’t reach us, or it would have been me versus 50+ angry rioters. I would have done my best, but that’s poor odds.

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone." - Author Unkown

I would take my Ruger 10/22 all the time. One day I was 11 years old and I grabbed my older brothers gun and took it instead. When I was going through the bottom of the gun cabinet I found his rounds for his gun. I had no idea what 45-70 meant at the time. When I got the the dump with the marlin and took my backpack off and opened that box I was in absolute awe. Those 45-70 looked like a damn 50 cal to my 11 year old .22 blasting ass. I was scared at first honestly and then I shot it 2 times at an old stove looked at the holes it made on the back and was in awe again. Then I went back home. My shoulder was KILLING ME. I'll never forget that day.

I was drafted in late 1970 and by March 71 I was stationed at a Nike Hercules missile battery in Gross-Sachsenheim Germany. I was a computer/switchboard operator at first then the acquisition radar operator. If our missile battery was in a lower non-critical status everyone would pull guard duty allowing others to go on leave. My first time on guard duty I was given a High Standard Riot shotgun very much like yours along with a Colt 1911 45ACP. Both of the guns were so worn out that I doubted they would even fire and both looked like they were chrome plated on the left side. This next thing needs to be explained a little bit. On the base we had three areas, the "Admin"/administration area, "down range" where the missiles and launchers were located, then my area "The Hill" with all the radar dishes control vans along with something called the "High Power Dome" this was a long range radar that covered a large portion of Germany and Czechoslovakia. To have access to both the Hill and Down Range you needed to have a T.S. clearance or higher. Around 3:30 AM wile I was on guard duty on the Hill I noticed someone run across an open area from the High Power dome heading towards the outer fence but inside the compound. I ran down from the guard tower and started chasing them a man and woman and three kids. As I cought up with the man I pulled out my 45 flipped the safety off aiming right between his shoulder blades I pulled the trigger but nothing happened. They all started slipping under the fence and running. After a bit I went back to my post and called my captain with the field-phone. The next day I was walking both of my officers along the path I had chased them and every 10 to 15 feet we found a nasty old greenish blue 45 round laying on the ground. With in one day we had new M-16s, 45s and ammo. I always wondered if the shotgun would have worked but always had my doubts.

Greetings of Brazil ❗ We love Hickok 45 here. Mr. Hickok test the CBC Military 3.0 shotgun! I can't say if it's already available in the USA...but it would be really nice to see it in your hands. Greetings!

You inherited a very nice pump shotgun. I'm very impressed with the quality of this shotgun. I can appreciate the quality now much more than I could back in the 1970's. I was even MORE ignorant back then than I am now.

Speaking of movies; an awful lot of people will probably also remember this shotgun type as the gun that Tackleberry went a little crazy with in the very first Police Academy movie.

A violent gathering is now “riot,” “insurrection,” or “mostly peaceful protest” depending on who's burning and looting.

God Bless Hickock and Son. Just when its a ho hum day , the good ole boys from KY upload a new video showing us some shooting, and some history on another great American firearm. Thanks for doing what you guys do! I am about to buy my 1st shotgun after shooting friends guns for years. I am set on finding a Rock Island VR80 because of its easy to find magazines and AR type action. 5 ,9, and 13 round mags and drums are available. Keep an eye out for them Mr. Hickock's Around here they are hot hot hot!
