I live in Northern Canada, installed 2 yrs ago,door is awesome, does not freeze up at all-40C. No more draft off door window compared to regular house windows. Just upgraded to Wifi door for convenience reasons

@stunning misadventures. Hi. I am contemplating buying this, I live in the cold midwest and I am kind of worried about it being drafty. I followed your link to the lithium battery, now that is just for the collar right? And I change that out about every 3 months? `What kind of battery do I put in the unit? I know it plugs in, but I am also thinking the door unit takes something like D size? How often do you change them? Does it still work fine for you? Thank you.

Yes, the collar takes lithium batteries and needs to be changed every three months. We have noticed that the system doesn’t always notify us when battery is running low so I would recommend setting a reminder on your phone for every two and half months to switch out batteries. Also, the system itself is not wireless and does not take batteries. It’s not wireless. If your door is not next to an outlet, you can use an extension cord or have a professional/knowledgable person (might be yourself) install an outlet next to the door

This looks great for only dogs, but I can see it being problematic for multiple dogs. My dogs run in and out of my regular flap dog door together as a pack all the time. I’m worried it would close as dog number 2 or 3 is coming through. They also like to peek through to checkout what’s happening on the other side. Sometimes they will stand there with their heads in the door for a few minutes. Does the door have a sensor to prevent it from closing on dogs who may be in the way, like an elevator door?

Yes it will automatically open any time the sensor gets close to it which is on the dogs neck. It would work with multiple dogs. They would just need to take turns with going through with it and they would all need their individual sensors on their necks

We put it high because we have a large dog. The door is about the height of his belly now. He was just 4 months old in this video

Has the door held up? Seeing conflicting reviews on quality. How is it for keeping the cold out? Rain? Any other issue?

We have had no issues with the door. We live in California with just rain. It keeps the room the same temperature as it would without it and it keeps rain out too. However, it lives in our garage door so we might not notice rain coming in

I live in Northern Canada. Door has seen 2 winters,has never froze shut even at -45C. Highly recommend door for all weather conditions. Door did start to get a bit of frost @ -42C.

I live in Florida, have had one for 5 years. It’s now leaking, not broken and I’ve recalled and replaced the tunnel. Now I’m thinking a new door. Looking up to see if anyone else is having issues.

Yes, you can. However, firepetsafedoors.com shared “once a dog door or cat door, or dog door is put into the fire barrier, your wall or fire-rated door ceases to be fire-rated”

The wifi door is terrible. Only works for a month or so then wifi app no longer connects to open or closes the door.

It’s too high what happens when Bear gets older he can’t get through. Oh boy. What if it malfunctioned and he gets caught while the door lid falls and gets stuck Oh boy

Bear is 2 years old and he has been getting through just fine. If you don’t want to buy it, then don’t. We have had no problems with it including the door malfunctioning. It lifts every time a body part is in the door

This item doesn’t work. Opens and closes for no reason. Overly priced and customer service doesn’t exist!

I’m sorry to hear you had this experience. We have had it for three years and still no problems. Maybe you guys a bad product? I know that happens sometimes. We have never had to deal with customer service so I can’t speak to that
