The first stop on the road takes us to the Black Hills in South Dakota! Our cabin is up at 7000 feet and gets enveloped by thick fog and high winds. We get out on an amazing hike off the Needles Highway in Custer State Park and spot mountain goats in the Cathedral Spires. Rylie even takes the kayak out on Sylvan Lake. It's the perfect first stop on our 40 day long road trip.

It was surprising that Ellie was not with you all, but understandably as to why she was not. Your daughter is so precious and funny with her expressions, wait till she can talk. Black Hills is a great start for your adventure these will be long lasting memories you will cherish. Going through the Needle's Eye is something you will always remember that one lane stretch of the highway as short as it is. Thank you for sharing with us all your adventures. Isn’t Custer state park incredible? Looks like your couch is working out well. Olivia is so adorable. She is like the clone of her gorgeous mama. I so totally want to kayak in that lake too. What an amazing place! Those rocks are stunning. Brings back so many memories of being up there about 20 yrs ago or more. I’m so glad you got to make these kinds of memories with your family. Just found your video and loved the adventure. We spent the entire month of June 2023 out west. On the black hills,Custer state park, Mount Rushmore, and the Badlands. Then, we headed to Devils Tower. A trip of a life time!!!
