To bunnyhop higher you need to be able to jump higher. Once you have the concept of using your legs like he showed in this video, it's all legs after that. You can work on jumping higher without a bike and your hops will automatically get higher. Another thing to keep in mind, a riders height. I am only 5' 7'. I had a friend who was about 6 feet tall when I was riding street all the time back in the 90s. He had no problem bunnyhopping onto this stage, which was about chest height. He made it look effortless and he even got up onto it in a manual. I eventually got up onto the stage but it took me a lot more effort and strength to do so. If you are a shorter rider, you can still hop high but you will have to work for it a lot more than a taller rider.
I just got back into riding after 20 years. I was gonna say my city just built a skatepark I've gone to a couple times, but seeing that CMOE sign at the end of the clip tells me you've probably been to the same skatepark since I live in Evansville 😅
If you want to bunny hop a 2’ high chain and you’re only lifting the front wheel 1’ high leg spring isn’t your friend. Figure out how to pivot off the bottom bracket and get your front wheel 3’ in the air. Not that easy for most people.
Not entirely true the front wheel can only go so high and if you’re not springing that back up and tucking you’ll just push the front of the bike down it’s a bit of both
You’re clearly pulling the bars closer to your hips and you’re standing up straight before you even use your feet for the bigger jump. In other words the front wheel determines the height of your jump.
Not necessarily although that is part of it. You can pull the front wheel up as hard as you can, but if you don't know how to lift the back wheel or "push" off your pedals for that extra height it wont matter. Once you get better at bunnyhops you can also lift the back wheel higher than the front if you want to.
Whenever I try to bunny hop, my feet always come off the pedals and when I try to place them back I lose them and it’s just a ugly mess. I have the right shoes and all, I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong per say.
