"It's me dad... just me..." The way he delivered that line was heartbreaking. This whole scene was so emotional, Hayden did incredibly. It's sad that this really happens, every day most likely, stupid parents in denial. This scene never fails to at least make me tear up.
I think Star Wars fans wanted Darth Vader to always be this cool, always in control, unemotional badass. They couldn't accept that young Anakin Skywalker was this volatile, often, irrational person who felt every emotion: fear, anger, love in such an extreme way, and that's what led to his downfall.
@@omalleycaboose5937 I think in the Clone Wars (which I loved) is also very different because they had a lot more time! In the prequels they had to show how he was a growing up teenager, then a Jedi warrior and then again his turn to the dark side in a small amount of time! I like the prequels, with The Clone wars in between! I think they complement each other very well!
@@BillyButcher90 not necessarily, i’ve heard plenty of stories from survivors, where the other parent let the man take just as much advantage of their children as Scott’s father did in this instance. The thing about pedophiles is they are drawn to victims that they are certain they can take advantage of in a consequence free environment. Also D.A.R.V.O. (deny, attack, reverse victim, reverse offender) tends to be a more effective tactic than people give it credit for, which is why it’s often the go to defense used by predators to gaslight their victims.
If the father had paid more attention, he would’ve noticed that the wife was giving herself away. She saying “he’s lying he’s lying”, yet in the same breath she wants to take him out of the facility. Now I’m sure she would comb that over by saying she wants to put him somewhere they won’t enable him, but for the time being he would have to be at home with them. So just to recap, she saying he’s lying but in the same breath, she wants him to come home. That does not make sense and if something doesn’t make sense it’s because it’s not true. an innocent person who is being falsely accused, does not want the accuser in their home. A predator who wants to cover their tracks, does that.
I love Hayden. Regardless of the hate he got for his portrayl of Anakin Skywalker, he played the part well. I think he comes across as a bad actor because of his voice. It's just very monotone and unemotional. While I admit his body language and speech patterns were a bit off in attack of the Clones, I blame that on Lucas' directing. Hayden was fantastic in Revenge of the Sith. There's no denying it. I hate to hear the awful things people say about Hayden. He's great, and he's such a normal guy compared to other actors. He did well in this scene as well.
I think too that the problem might be the voice because with his face and body language he can showcase such a wide range of emotions that it's just incredible!
@@ade8182 He was also really young when he played anakin skywalker which is kinda surprising to me still as he looked older in episode 3 like early 30s older 😅😂😂
It always angered me to hear Star Wars fans complain that Hayden couldn’t act. All they ever knew of him was from the prequel movies. But I saw this show first. I saw this scene. I always knew he had amazing dramatic range when given the chance.
here it is lols he has no video without a star wars comment! He will always be Anakin. I do not hate him, i think he is a great, guninune, and honest actor who does not try to be someone he is not and that is what makes him so human like. He has this sort of down too earth, innocent, loyal, submissive personality that will sometimes test the rules. His subtle expressions and emotional sense in his eyes makes him the kind of person we see often in the real world, it makes you wonder what is going on inside, and that is not a bad thing. I like people who pull to dig deeper, people who hold back personality but say it all in their eyes makes you want to ask what is beyond the character. I always say there are two types of characters or actors in a story, their are the people who act the part and the characters who are the part. The people who are the actors in a movie or play are great, they play a role, but they play many roles , often roles that are idealized and speak of someone else that gives them a challenge to be the character, but master it in all the perfect ways but when they leave they are someone else. Then you have the actors who are the characters they play, often times they act as if they have no purpose to be that ideal, they just give it out as themselves, and often those characters whether they say it or not are much like the characters they play outside of the film such as their expressions, their personality, their mannerisms that fit the part as if they were the part and Hayden is just that! I think all the people who dislike Hayden fail too see the underlying character he is and the subtlness yet powerful for all those who know what it's like to have to bottle up your emotions but to be just as much of a person inside. behind the face is much more words and thats what makes it real not this Idealism. I do not think Hayden cares to be anyone he is not nor to make anyone like him who does not. The people who dislike it have every right as far as reasons, but those people are closing their eyes to something that is actually quite nice when you look with an open mind, when you are so bound by limits often the beautiful things are missed that I was fortunate to experience through the movie he played as well as the story it told through the way he handled his acting to the best he could at the time. No I am not saying it because I am a girl and think he is hot or something, I have no crush on him nor any other artist for that matter. No not at all, I understand his personality because to me it is a mere of myself and my sister. You can not judge someone because they are less emotion and less ideal in their manners, but the unspoken is the strongest impact and the people who despise him have not been fair to him. As anyone, he too is a person, I will not stand for bashing artists or celebs because they have it ten times harder then most of us. Yet Hayden of all people I was merely shocked at his strong hate by far ashamed me how bad people get over such small but yet big things to the point they think little of the person they effect. I would like to see him continue to act for those who are not bound by strick past ideas and personal betrayal as felt to keep my eyes from seeing it for what is good and that no story has limits. I am glad he is not the same as other actors because if all the actors acted the same it would make it boring and unrealistic as hollywood often is, but people like him pull a touch of life something to relate too. If we all acted the same then there would be no personality that makes one unique. I always admire the characters who allow some of their humanity in, their personality seaps through, people may seem him as never trying since he is quite the same in his interviews, but thats what is so good about him is he is him and too me that is like he is the character and not an actor trying to play a character because he is true to himself and true to his fans. Who wants a good actor who is fake, but unfortunately many of the new actors are over idealized, women always act this way, and men always act that way as almost as if it's saying to society as if that is the only thing that is acceptable and all the people who are not like that in the real world are not very good impressions. Why these standards, why must we have perfection all the time, no real human acts like they do in the movies, why bash those people who find it important to just be as they are. Teach people that there is no one way a person should act or be in real life, we have shy people, out going people, expressive, emotionless, dramatic, down to earth, loyal or decieving, submissive or aggression. Personally my personality in a girl way is much like him and by watching him it is a way I would like to be in my own way someone who is always honorable even when they failed in all ends, they show that even the worst situations can't change the loyalty they will continue to hold out even in tough times. Him as Anakin was a reflection of my own life in another sense, his misunderstood life, he was full of good yet sometimes you could not see it, he was dry in his emotions but strong in his heart, he was sublte in his words, but powerful in the feeliings of his eyes that felt the confusion or maybe it was the feelings of his life foreal, the fact that no one believed in him because of his past or other things, how people effect your life and add too your destiny, how he had so much good and so much confusion yet so hidden inside, how he failed miserably but proving to people that you can never judge because you can Never underestimate who someone can be and who they are as a person EVer. I was that person in my own life, many times I was misunderstood, judged, often thought of as emotionless, cold, but in my eyes was great pain and frusteration clouded by so much light that only the people who cared to look beyond the face could understand. Yes their are people in this world who see him as a reflection of the few people in life who understand that realm of unseen potential as he was. Unless you had a situation like that even these words would make little sense, yet the people who hate this barely listen to others opinions and that is when you know someone is wrong. If someone trully has a valuable point they will explain it well without the need for shutting down other people and bashing people out. The people who hate him have personal reasons for such, but their feelings about him and the movie as a whole are not right from their ideas yes it must but for the movie as it was and still is why take that away from the people who found something good. As it was the movie wasn;t just made for one side of fans, but their are two sides and did he not say that who could like it all. For someone who judges little and tries to see that there is value in such things will listen with an open mind. I support this actor and do not want to see his career demolished from people's such narrow standards. He has alot of hate, he I am sure is sick of it and has no intention on trying to change people's minds and that is good of him, he should not have to force anyone to see what they are unwilling to see. He should not have to be ashamed for other people's opinions, but everywhere I see him he is a fine actor. If he was a bad actor he would have never made it this far. Why as society are we so full of hate, that we tear things apart. This is not the first time I have seen such things to artists, but people can destroy a person in such positions and I will not stand for unjust hate and I feel celebrities need that for once instead of people always using them, and idealizing them, and expecting them to be these super humans when they are not! They are people too and I do not want to loose the people who uplift others lives why take that away by standards and limits.
@Evan Jon I don't feel that way though. What I liked about Hayden is he was human, he had good and bad and real villians are not all evil. The new star wars how everyone thought Anakin should have been was just nothing but evil, no humanity at all. That was the only reason I liked Star Wars as I did. As I like humanity, I didn't see it whining, I get what was happening in the videos. Most girls like those kind of men, its not about being emotional, its about being a human. Real men feel, being a man to a women is not about being masculine, its about having a heart and being open minded. I think he was picked to act in the movie because of his acting. Most movies especially Marvel movies, there is always a lot of idealism, which is what everyone wanted from Star Wars. You have big muscular "White men", who are either all good, or all Evil, and you have women who fight who are "Perfect Figures, big butts, big chests, sexy, perfect in bed, confident, bxtchy, and can fight", just a women that really doesn't exist, its pretty demeaning, this is just not reality. No one is good or bad. Most Villians aren't good or bad, one movie who really portrayed this idea well was Game of Thrones. You saw two sides of everyone that is real life. A guy who really wants a women will think like a women. That is why many women even fall inlove with gay men, is because they get one thing most "Regular" men, forget the point of being a man, they forget why women like men anyways. Its not about muscles, being big, or being "Cocky masculine in a big fancy car etc", Being a man is someone who takes responsibility, they listen, and they feel. They look beyond a "Stereotype". Hayden had those qualities. I get him in star wars because I also grew up in a bad life so I could relate to him a lot, people were very negative to Anakin and really they kind of pushed him to being Vadar unknowingly because Anakin saw things differently and he was ok with finding new ways to do things, but they only saw it one way, they only did what they thought they were supposed to but it pushed him right into the wrong person who finally Validated him for all the wrong reasons, he told Anakin if he "Listened to him that he would be able to do all these things and save the people he loved", however the only one who could do that was himself, he realized that once he saved his son, that he was right a long, they were wrong, it took him his whole life to realize he lived to find an answer he already had the power to make himself.
It bothered me that the counselor put him in the position of having to tell his dad- it made it seem like a confession of something bad he did. It wasn't, it was abuse & the staff could have told the dad without Scott there. If the staff told, then dad would have time to accept the news & work through his feelings, and then talk to his son later on after he had adjusted to the news. Making Scott tell his dad meant he had to see dad's initial reaction which was unnecessary.
But did Scott previously confess it to the staff? They may have had no idea what he was about to say. Sorry it's been a long time since I saw this episode and don't remember the details.
@@Stefan-ji2ek i saw it recently. He didn’t tell the staff. They had no idea what he was gonna confess to the dad. He should have talked to a counselor before talking to his father
I forgot all about the TV Show "Higher Ground." I used to watch it growing up in the 90's. Alot of people dont know about Hayden Christensen's past acting career.
@dcat11114u: You kidding right? That is like the most common thing one would feel after a abuse. Do you honestly think that a 17 year old boy who has been abused by his stepmother would be all tuff and demanding? His just a scared kid, who wants his fathers love. And he feels like it his fault, probably because the stepmother has been giving him those thoughts.
I HATED Elaine so much in this scene and his own dad. I mean I understand that he loves Elaine but that's his son why would he listen to Elaine instead of Scott .
@dcat11114u he apologize bec. he felt it was his fault that something happened between him and his stepmother. You know how predators will corrupt the mind of their victims to make them think its their fault it happened. Scott is sorry not bec. he was molested but bec. he knows how much his father love his stepmother and by telling his father the truth it will hurt him bec. not only was he lied to he wasn't able to protect his son resulting to his drug abuse and almost ruining their lives
People commenting are too hard on the dad. Imagine your son telling you he had sex with your wife. It’s the natural first reaction that he didn’t believe him because he did drugs and he had lied before so he wasn’t someone to trust at that point. It’s a very hard situation to deal with and parents are not perfect. Everyone saying he’s a bad person are wrong. He does what he can and then he apologizes to his son for not believing him and he tells him very encouraging things to make him feel better and help his self esteem. He loves his son and he’s doing what he can but he doesn’t fully understand the situation because the last episode Scott starts yelling at him and confronting him for not believing him and I understand Scott too because he was very hurt emotionally but he pushed his dad too much until he told him it was his fault and it’s understandable because he was there and didn’t say no to Elaine and he had sex with her and sent her love letters. He doesn’t necessarily understand Scott’s mentality and the whole situation. Both were victims and both made mistakes, he’s not a terrible person. This show needed a second season with a closure for this story. They needed to forgive each other and rebuilt their relationship as father/son.
@Frank Gorshin fanatic And the production company from the show wasn't picked up for the new network. Supposedly they even tried to shop the show around to another network but nothing came through.
@@JennFromTheBay he didn’t know. He was just finding out and of course he’s a victim his wife cheated on him with his son. Despite the age of his son he admitted he liked her and he consented. He wrote love letters to her and he said it was ok to sleep with her if he was in love.
@@j0l1ed1v15 - watch the very last episode ; the dad said he knew and didn’t want to believe it; he caught them and didn’t say anything. Letters or not; she still committed a crime.
@@JennFromTheBay he knew when his son told him. In the last episode he’s talking about that. He never saw them. Scott asks him “why didn’t you believe me?” And he said “it wasn’t something I wanted to believe” that doesn’t mean he saw them. You didn’t understand it. She committed and crime but not him. He was a victim

He’s been on higher ground than Obi-Wan. ...... and this is way before his Star Wars days. To Hayden‘s acting career, he’s one lucky guy. I envy him. It’s unfortunate not everyone can have that so called Hollywood look.
well if this scene proves anything being a pretty boy isn't always an advantage. thats why so many convicts get face tattoos. to lessen the chances of being sexually abused.
