I love trying new styles of music :) The dubstep part was REALLY tricky to make, had to learn a few new techniques for it, but I like the result, it's fun :)
Even years later, I would be inclined to believe that Gavin would be capable of this. If not more. And one of his powers is making the dubstep defy science to wub-wub the awesomeness of his music into your brain so you will be on permanent earworm that can only be solved by listening to his music. ...What? That was just me liking his stuff? That makes more sense. But he's still a master of music.
Dubstep isn't a bad genre. I think people resent that it is overused in advertising & media plus there's also a snobbish 'it's not music' attitud levelled at it. While it's absolutely true that it requires little to no musical skill to make dubstep, I learned this week that it requires HUGE production skill, a lot of synth manipulation knowledge & technical know-how. It is absolutely an art form of its own. Of course, if someone just can't stand the way it sounds, that's perfectly fair :D
miracleofsound Somehow, every time, you manage to produce amazing and awesome songs. Its rare to see a singer/song writer to do different genre's, but its even more rare to see one who does all sorts of genre's. Not only do you make songs of all types of genre's, you dam rock them!!! Keep up the amazing works!!!
I was wondering if you're going to do a song about SR4, since your humor, creativity and voice fits perfectly for a song dedicated to that game. Not disappointed at all. Hell yeah.
+Akamatsu_Ace Exactly! Dubstep isen't inherintly bad, there's just been a lot of bad dubstep that has gotten popular *cough* Skrillex *cough*. Kinda the same thing with hip hop and the majority of people from the Young Money label xD (in case you didn't know, that's Lil' Wayne's label)
I know right! Whoever would have expected a dubstep song about a game that has a dubstep gun and whose original soundtrack is almost exclusively dubstep!
This may not be my favorite song or genre as a whole, but the reason I really like listening to your music is the variety itself. The vast amount of skill needed to master all of these genres and styles, and ploink out a song every two weeks... It amazes me. Gav, you are the man
About 2-3 years ago I have found this channel and till this day, from time to time I'm checking this song as it was one of first I watched... And oh boy, it doesn't get old.
This is good and people should not think worse of you for using dubstep in one song! It works and fits the game and you made it original and awesome! Loving every minute of your music dude!
What I like about this song, and the music video helped a lot too, is that with a lot of your songs you inhabit the perspective of the game's characters, which, don't get me wrong, makes for some incredibly strong songs. But with this song in particular, I felt like it was all you, Gav, like you were just making music, dancing the night away, and having a hell of a lot of fun while you did it. Love it man, you keep on climbing higher :)
I'm... really not a fan of this song. Which may be a first for MoS, but no complaints about variety- even if that means sometimes it's not for me. However, the video? Basically watching Gavin dancing and blowing stuff up? That was a good chuckle.
You know, I hadn't realized until now how much dubstep went into the construction of SR4. Thank you for using your synth-sound powers to open my eyes, Gav.
If you feel my work is worth donating for there are you can buy the albums for whatever price you feel they deserve on bandcamp or get yourself a t-shirt from the link in description. I always feel a little weird taking donations without giving at least a little something in return :)
I love this, I am not a dubstep fan at all (apart from stuff like Burial which is different stuff entirely) but that trance melody for the chorus is probably one of my favourites you have done Gav. I think alot of people won't give this a chance due to 'wubs' but you are essentially using the wubs themselves as an instrument here instead of focusing the entire piece around that one element. Your prodcution has really grown since you first started.
***** Your overpriced mag-rounds only liberate the brain from the skull. Freedom from choice, follow Grandpa Vanu and get a free set of plasma blasters.
And this is where we disagree. Do you even REMEMBER? The "peacekeepers" of Terran Republic are far from the regime beloved by people back on earth - where you are a free man, unless you directly try to counter the safety of humanity. What are the TR here, on Auraxis? They oppressed us nearly to slavery! And were you not told about the Vanu's First Disciple? The aliens actually forced the man to suicide. Realize - with your "convert or die" agenda, you are NO BETTER THAN THE TERRANS. We in the New Conglomerate realize this. We may be led by corporations, but so far, these men up high realize what has to be done - both the Vanu and the Terran Republic have to be defeated, if we are ever to return to anything resembling the regime TR have established on Earth - the regime everyone loved. Sadly, as an Infiltration specialist, I have gotten close enough to some of the TR to listen in. What they said was: "When you see your brother hooked up to Vanu tech, you pull the trigger. He's not family anymore, and to him, you're just unenlightened human rabble." I agreed with the sentiment enough to give those two men the honor of knowing what killed them. I decloaked in front, before killing them both. I'm sorry, but if Vanu will not quit your oppressive ways, I see no future for you other than a shallow grave. I do not wish so, but you know how things are here on Auraxis. You hesitate, you die.
I was afraid of this. You Vanu are incapable of independent thought with all the tech you have in yourself. *points his NC4 Mag-Shot* I'm sorry. *pulls the trigger repeatedly*
man I your songs. if they weren't set to a game background I would think they were record label class songs and I love that about you and your creations.
I really like this song. I love the lyrics. And as Xplosive59 said (I have to give credit for wording it so perfectly), the wubs seem more like instruments instead of the sole element of the music. It's great that you keep trying new styles. Anyways, well done, once again!
Hey I wanted to say thank you for this song, like I get that it is not your best work or anything but you happened to release it at a time I was going through some hard stuff in my life and often i would just come home and listen to this song and know that I could make it. Nit sure where I am going with this I just wanna end this with another thank you
Usually this is would not be the kind of music that I'd like to listen to but GOD DAMNIT GAVIN YOU KILLED IT! It's just soooo fresh, the chorus is brilliant the bridge is fantastic and the beat itself sound so addicting! Holy shit Gavin you blew my mind! Respect and love from Germany. You rock!
this is veryvery different from the other songs you do, at the first I was like "wtf is this" but after a minute or something I really began to enjoy this. I'm no Dubstep-fan, though a SR4 Song NEEDS to be Dubstep. I like the Refrain the most. :3
everyone who keeps saying the dubstep and electronic music in general should try to make some themselves. Nice to see you appreciate other styles also even tho you don't use them that often yourself. Also, the song was avesome. You somehow managed to capture the "punkish" -feeling saint row has. Can't put it rly on words. :)
Words cannot express how AWESOME this song is. Excuse me while I run off to buy it. I've got a long drive today and this is just the thing to add to my latest CD of travel music.
I just cant take the sound of it. I feel that all who create music should be allowed to do whatever fits their vision. BTW cant say i didnt shit my pants when you responded. Keep up the good work man!
I've been listening to your music since Age of the Dragon and man you just keep getting better. I'm super glad zune has your music.....Yes I know who owns a zune ME THAT'S WHO!
