Galaxy got a new engineer from the last port they landed at and the guy didn't really anticipate a support ship being used as an air to air interceptor. He came highly recommended and the fleet really needed a replacement so they told him it was strictly a sensor picket in the interview. Long story short he was busy going, "What do you mean expend the enemies ammunition?" and so didn't properly secure for maneuvers. He got beaned by a loose tool and slumped over onto a fuel cut-off toggle. You had to wait for his orientation officer to realize what was going on, unbuckle from his station and get over while you were slamming the ship sideways across the sky.
the kill at 12:05 is fascinating, the armor has gaps to lighten the weight, normally that would be fine but coupled with the ship's low climb speed means that most of it's attacks come from above. It just shows that no matter how hard you work on each aspect of your ship, what really matters is the context it's going to be used in.
12:08 It appears the Stampede only has two maneuvering engines. One burned down and it could no longer turn, hence the "LOST CTRL" destruction. A fatal flaw on an otherwise solid ship. Some smaller ships can run on a single gimbal engine but not in this case.
"Polish Train Russian Adventure" it's a CZECHOSLOVAK train, sir! Damnit! If we had a cent every time someone mistook us for Poland, we'd have enough money to buy their name and make it no longer an issue.
Please continue this series ! You are one of the best highfleet RU-vidrs. I enjoy your challenges, and the 45 minute episodes are a perfect pace to listen to after college.
25:39 I think the crews were actually strapped to the fuel tank. Also I choose to think the ships spontaneously are because they're overengineered unreliable boondoggles.
You should probbably rebind your abandon ship if its close enough to your "switch ammo" key that youre constantly pressing it in battles and having to replay the mission with morale hits
There’s not a flagging system in the game. So technically the destruction of the trade ship isn’t a war crime. It’s not the preferable outcome but destroying the enemies commercial vessels would aid your efforts. The AWACS are the matadors of the sky!
More precisely, given that the Stampede only has two gimballed engines I think a shot slipped in the gap and shot the already damaged right engine off, thus sending the ship spinning out of control.
The two lightnings escorting the trade group could both mount 2 T-7s, but had none. I wonder if the "scouting patrol" of 4 T-7s belonged to the trade group and was returning from something? Not sure what they'd be doing, but very different behaviour than a scouting run off an SG
For me it seems like a mistake to not include A-100 loadout to main fleet. It is an amazing strategic rockets that is able to interuptincoming rockets with 100% chance and deal massive damage to incoming airplanes waves. That can be incredibly helpfull later on.
You make a good point but I had really bad results with the A100 intercept tactic in my last attempt and decided to go all in on interceptor aircraft instead.
Hi, I know this is an off-topic for this campaign, but I will go with it anyway. Is there any chance we see a Flight to Hara Vera mod attempt on your channel?
I struggle to imagine that the creators of this game did not read Dune. Too much is very similar, even proper nouns like Sayadi show up in that novel as ‘Sayadina’. Also the desert people with their hidden cities (seiches) and the prophecy the foreign monarch manipulates and a bunch of other stuff.
Maybe some updates have ruined the custom designs? We've seen now a 2nd design that has a flaw that makes is useless in a fight. And this one looked like it was all about being in a fight, had no radar or anything.
I'm still on the same version of the game they were made for. There is a big split of designs that focus on either Strategic or Tactical, we are seeing a lot of the strat designs so far.
