Very very nice piloting skills mate. I tend to panic and lose the plot but, after looking at your play style, I think slow, steady and only firing when you're virtually guaranteed a hit is the way forward. 👍
at the start of the game this music is absolutely chilling and basically means doom but after a certain point on a good run it becomes a "im not trapped in here with you your trapped in here with me" moment.
Tanc a Lelek music plays for the enemy SG once player brings in a custom ship in the campaign. My pyramid of doom "Evangelion" blows through everything to the point it feels like cheating... and it's not even that great of a design.
I've never played highfleet, but I've played a lot of Starsector. I will say, that is some of the best piloting I've seen from watching footage of Highfleet and from my own experience in Starsector.
@@AlleyCatGhost This game has no drug or organ trafficking and you are not on a glorious space crusade to purge the servants of Moloch from the sector. How does this game remind you of Starsector?
Hey, very interesting ships. For now I went with improving the efficiency of the base designs. Like making them lighter and more fuel efficient. I use the gladiator a lot for combat (alongside the lightning), and you seem to have build a gladiator on steroids. What's really amazing is the range and that it is not actually more expensive than the base gladiator. Thanks for sharing. Also your carrier file seems very interesting, again, for the price!
I built a cube with 26 130mm guns and about 3 layers of armor. I think it has a speed/weight ratio of 1.3. Spent a whole day messing around with it to try and get it to be perfect. If I wanted to buy it in the campaign it would cost 140k.. I got super sad.
Lightning is really good. Very agile and does good dmg early game. Cheap and fast. Good for intercepting traders. İf you get practice you can significantly reduce repair costs. Not getting hit is cheaper than being able to being able to withstand hit.
Like it or not, armor squares is peak highfleet ship design. That said I’m still gunna stick with modifying the vanilla ships, I just love their look too much. And AP ammo may need some.. adjusting.. but.. until then I’m gunna keep bullying the early SGs with my AP 130 lightning
All I see is the wonder of AP ammo, that and the AK-100 needs some balancing I reckon. Awesome ships though, manoeuvrable and armoured with long TOT. I'm not used to seeing a nomad being destroyed by frigate sized ship.
AK-100 can really, really help you alot when dealing with strikegroups. I have a similarly priced frigate sized craft that's nearly completely covered in armor and moves way slower than the ship here, yet it can melt Kormorans and Negevs like nothing with just HE and positioning afforded by the time that the armor (not to mention design) gives me. Though, AP ammo dod be hittin different tho.
its weird that on paper the 130s are better but the 100s somehow just have that performance. except the fact that 130s have 2x more expensive special ammo
@@facehurt7606 added 4 100s on the lightning, added extra thrusters to keep that thrust to weight ratio, added some fuel tanks to be able to stay in fight longer. Made a custom tanker for it with radars, anti air missiles, and 2 t2 interceptors, with 500 on the map speed and 7000 reach with Lightning on steroids. Cost of those 2 was 30k in campaign. Now i understand why custom ships are essentially easy mode in this game...
3:53 - what exactly causes the enemy ships to be destroyed here? Is the bridge on the bottom-left of these designs? I can't see anything super-vital there otherwise.
And more than that, the trick with elevated engines doesn`t work anymore so ANY change of these designs forces to remove bottom armor in order to make thrusters operable again.
I see that you subscribe to the armored box doctrine for sg removal. I personally prefer my boxes with more armor and firepower but manoeuvre tactics using armor as a safety net is also a valid strategy and it doesnt necessitate that you spend valuable time and money on repairs. All in all it seems to me like you know what you're doing
They nerfed it. Now it still have that armour stats of armour plates but it can't block explosions unlike armour. It means if you take a missile or HE shell it will withstand the damage but the modules behind still take some damage. But people circumvented this by making spaced armour from reinforced hull pieces. It looks ugly but it does the job.
hey i was tinkering with your ships and i noticed that your fixed thrusters work despite having armor under it, however if i remove or add anything from the ship it prevents the thrusters from working. how can you get the fixed thrusters yo work despite having armor under them?
Thx for the video, very useful! I'm new to this game, can somebody tell me where do I have to put the .png and .seria files of the ships so I can test/modify them?
Love me a ship that kills stuff 3 times its cost. Feels easier to properly shrug off an engagement with these bigger ships when you're still small enough to dodge. Imo, flares are still useful on mid-size ships just because they save you fuel and the effort of repositioning (if you're trying to be in a specific position around a ship and you don't want to give up ground). Nice gameplay!
if only there's was a way to build my own custom ship that's works in the campaign ._. all my ship designs sucks and eats fuel a lot, lack of defense and flares. ;-; wish there's a tutorial for custom ship but is not working for me ._.
I would say in my beginner experience the starter ships are some of the most reliable try going into the editor and modifying the base ships adding some rockets and some armor and you should be fine
Hoping I can use a similar tactic but with ample carriers and corvettes until I can afford one of my fat 400k bastards with tons of countermeasures, missiles and some aircraft. Though the fuel cost will be the main enemy.
Highfleet sometimes feel like if you use stock ships, youre gimping yourself hard. Custom designs seem to blow pre-mades out of the water 9 times out of 10.
i think the dev made default ships bad to encourage people to build their own designs - my mk3’s designs have just been released in the googledrive link btw 😙
@@facehurt7606 i get that but heres the thing: im a degenerate when it comes to building stuff, regardless if its minecraft, valheim or this game. So for me, i use only defaults, and struggle immensely throughout the campaign. Glad you have some badass designs though, saves my dumbass from uninstalling a game i otherwise really enjoy! thank you!
@@henryhamilton4087 oh no, its like i need to spend money six time to kill all strike fleets in the campaign, its whole 10000, i cannot make this much money just by capturing SINGLE tradeship! They are better spend on repairing gaping hole in my every ship, because i didnt wanted to waste resources on AP!
Sniping bridges. If you know that a certain ship has bridge located near the outside of the hull you can snipe it with a volley of laser guided shells. Even with armour plating, the fact that you are having several shells landing in the same place means that in just a few volleys you will eventually dig through it and get to the vital components. At that point, you can load your secondary weapons with incendiary ammunitions and set them on fire.
Yeah but I believe the calibers are bugged ATM or not well balanced at least, had two 180mm hit as much as my 100mm yet the 100mm canon was dealing a lot more damage.
