What a delight to watch the cattle romping in the field and paddock. The pigs seem to have taken a liking to you. It is so adorable when they run up to greet you.

In Norway we have a word for when cattle or other livestock are let out to pasture for the first time in spring. It’s “vårslepp” and directly translated it means “spring release”. It’s really fun to watch when cows that have been inside the barn all winter are let out again😊 🐄🐂

I have seen a clip of an entire erd of cows leaping and frisking about as they were let out on fresh grass for spring. An English farm.

It was always fun to watch the local farmer walk his big dairy heard from the barns to the fields/pastures along the main road especially in the spring as they were so full of energy and excitement he always had extra help people and more herding dogs, every now and then we'd have a cow in our front garden❤, I also used to love sit at the fences and stroke them when I was feeling depressed, that was when I was a kid, quite sad when the farmer was forced to sell when I was in my late teens, I wish it would go back to smaller local herds again rather the big overcrowded barns like a lot are doing nowadays 😢

I'm so happy to see everything at GSF is green and looking well this spring. Everyone is eager to move out to fresh pasture, even with Amanda's reluctance to move out. Joey and Randy can't wait for their turn to come, too. The birds and piggies look great. It looks like everyone is welcoming the change to their surroundings. Turning out the cows, a book, an audio book, a hatching diary, new pigs, gathering eggs, the birds, the cats, the dogs... and other stuff I couldn't even catch. Oh yeah - the barn! Randy certainly seems anxious to be with the girls, but some of that attraction may be for their surroundings: that grass seems to be very succulent. And this is his first real close exposure to their scents. I wouldn't be surprised if he rolls around in their hay and excrement.

@@flautalee3090 I bought a very long HDMI cord off of amazon and plug my computer into the screen :D There are better ways to do it I'm sure! But, my computer desk is close by, so it worked out well. :D

@@flautalee3090 It's such a nice thing to have set up! I've tried other methods, a bluetooth stick for my computer so the tv could connect to it, even tried putting them on the same "network" but everything was laggy and slow to load. A cord hookup is smooth and has no latency. (Possible I'm just too old school to know better methods though!) Haha :D I hope it works for you! :D

We've been staying at a working cattle ranch for the last week in our motorhome, and they have carports scattered around their 2 huge pastures for shade during the summer. Made me think of you and our fuzzy kids. Also they just put on little blue tags "ear tags" for fly control. It's been interesting and and great learning experience here in NC.

One thing you definitely need to consider doing for roosting birds is making sure they have their own space. The fact that they have to compete for space, food and water all while trying to hatch eggs is not good for them or the eggs.

Many years ago my uncle had a farm. He put the pig pen next to the chicken yard. One day a chicken made it over the fence. It was ripped apart in minutes......Those pigs are more interested in the poultry than their food.

"Birds can be so tempermental"...that's an understatement! And duck moms can be fierce, probably because they are the only one raising the ducklings, at least among the wild mallards that I see. I once saw one put the boots to a seagull because it pecked at her duckling (and not in an "I want to eat you, duckling!" sort of way, more like "get out of my way, kid" sort of way).

@Gold Shaw Farm You should consider collecting what fur you can and adding it to your online store, because of the cow type you have the fur can be spun into yarn or used for needle felting or other crafts, I'm just suggesting it because it adds a little more income and who knows it might become a hit, look it up when you get a chance, thank you.

I've missed the last 4 or 5 months of videos so I thought I was watching some videos from years ago. You look great and healthy dude! I can also attest to the fat melting qualities from bike riding. I dug the old road bike out of storage a month and a bit ago and, what a surprise!, cardio is healthy and good for weight loss!

Random fun fact. If you hold up walkie talkies antennae to the wire you can hear the pulse. We did this when we were kids. When I found out one wire had a much louder sound I got curious. We had touched the other wires and felt a little jolt. I grabbed the loud one. Never did that again.
