Kamen had such a talent for beautifully lush romantic themes. This soundtrack definitely added to the gravitas of the movie. Now that I think about it, the filmmakers could've easily gone with a synth-driven soundtrack for a movie of this type and because of the era it was made in. But it was a good decision, I think, to keep it traditional. Kamen's score gave the movie a kind of timelessness (like the character MacLeod and the rest of the immortals). The score also gave the film "classic" status (which for me, personally, was diminished with the later sequels - that's just me). By the way, if I'm not mistaken, I noticed some hints of what would become the score for "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" in the "Scotland, 1536/ Clan MacLeod" track.
Fantastic musical composition. The end scene when Connor fought against the Kurgan and the scene where he and Ramirez were practicing on the mountain and he knocked the sword out of Ramirez hand...absolutely EPIC!
Kaman's work always enhances what it is paired with. Go check out Metallica's Hero of the Day (S&M Live Version.) Michael did the composition for the orchestra and it just rocks the show.
Yeahhhh but Kamen added some nice flare to it and it is actually more powerful. There are always composers that you can hear borrowed from the greats but damn if I can spot anything Jerry Goldsmith borrowed from.
Of course I love the score or I wouldn't be here...but this cover art is amazing! 🤩 There are scenes within scenes that my eyes don't even see at first. God I miss the 80's
