A play of the 1965 NBA All-Star Game using Highlight Maker Hoops from PLAAY Games. No less than 16 Hall-of-Fame players were involved in the game, a number that increases when you include Eastern Conference coach Red Auerbach and referee Mendy Rudolph.
With a squad that includes Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Jerry Lucas, Willis Reed, Hal Greer and Sam Jones can Red's Eastern team defeat Alex Hannum's Western Conference squad? The Warriors coach has a blockbuster squad of his own with Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Bob Pettit and Lenny Wilkens.
In the real game the East eked out a 124-123 victory before a full house at St. Louis' Kiel Auditorium. Can they duplicate the feat in HMH? Take a watch and find out!
Highlight Maker Hoops can be purchased from PLAAYClassic.com

Hello, Joe! Just found your channel and I'm thrilled that I did. Great focus and eloquence on your part. And I really appreciate your embrace of both PC games and D&C. I'm always stunned when a channel host is clearly an extremist in one camp or another (it's usually a D&C dude pretending like computers were never invented). (See: Tower, Steve.) (Just picked up the PC version of Pavlov's House due to your video.) I must say I'm having issues with HMH. Actually, one major issue: quarter scoring. I've read and re-read the manual and FAQ many times and I cannot get my 1985-86 teams to not score HUGE quarters. 40-something quarters are common, and so is the occasionally 50 point explosion. My last two games had quarters of 53, 50, and 52. I know about the caps, so I'm not sure why this is even possible. TBH, the conversion of "scores" into one of those grids is a major mechanic issue, imho. And probably makes the game unplayable for long term replays. . . (HMB Express, otoh, has a great QP mechanic, as does Al Wilson's Fast Drive Football.) If your an NBA guy, HIGHLY recommend Richard Hanna's PC Replay Basketball (especially if you like classic NBA). Beautiful game, totally credible (as all Hanna games are), and a great computer coach. Keep up the great work! Would really like to see you dive into one of my favorite war games: Silent Victory. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/154875/silent-victory-us-submarines-pacific-1941-45

Thanks! Yes, you're 100% correct about the D&C vs computer divide. There are definitely folks on both side who pretend the other doesn't exist. I get it - sometimes the tactile experience of rolling dice is what hits the sweet spot and other times, it's nice to let the PC do the heavy lifting (particularly when it comes to tracking statistics). I'd agree that the grid could be a problem and might require some tweaking long-term to go down a level perhaps (I don't have the 85-86 season, but I know for some teams in the 64-65 season, you roll and can drop down to a lower scoring chart. Keith does great work and I'm very interested to see how History Maker Hoops turns out. I've played Al's Fast Drive Football and yes, it works very, very well. Haven't tried HMB Express yet. Funny you mention Richard Hanna - I'm a big fan of his work, he's basically the master of taking board games and making digital versions. I play Second & Ten all the time and I just did a video on "Legends of Boxing" which also has a PC version, which was done by Richard Hanna. I've played the PC version of Classic Soccer too and I believe that's his work as well. Good news too - I do have Silent Victory. My problem at the moment is too many games! Nice problem to have, but I have Silent Victory (and it's U-Boat counterparts The Hunters & The Hunted) on the short list and will get to them sometime in the hopefully not-too-distant future.

@@HexedAndCountered Just saw this, Joe. Thank you for the response. Really looking for to Hanna's new Stone Cold Hockey for PC, coming next month (I think), with Gary Brown's PDF version arriving in a couple weeks. So many games. . .

If card is a push and push is underlined it becomes 2 player points not 1

Thanks Phillip. I will confess that I was really focused on keeping the video tight so I misread some of the cards (as you've discovered). I suppose that's what happens when you rush. Typically I take my time, but RU-vid is the epitome of "short attention span theater" so in going for speed I obviously missed some things I shouldn't have. Thanks again - Joe
