What Darcy did was unforgivable in the the world of sports. He actively tried to injure a competitor and he got away with it. I don't think he should be seen in international rugby for a very long time.
The last turn over on the Wallabies line was a penalty to the AB's Lalakai was on his knees when he entered to steal. He didn't support his weight. Even the Aussie commentators questioned that steal.Jordie had his knee on the ground when he was tackle in the midfield. The ball was turned over but no signs of release.Should I mention the Marika no arms tackle on Caleb?
penalty awarded at 78:24.... about 30s of celebrations, during which the ref tells Foley to kick it on more than one occasion. Then he stops the clock, tells Foley to kick it once he calls time back on, yet Foley still fafs about. This is the correct call Mr Raynal. Well done and I hope more refs follow this example, especially during the dying moments of a game.
He blew the whistle for time wasting at 79:03. I think that's very quick to basically be awarding NZ a draw or a win, always thought it was a minute of play time that you had.
Nr 19 from Australia an absolute coward criminal, should have been red carded. He came from lateral with clear intention to break the knee of defenseless Tupea. For how many months that young guy will be sidelined. What a shame. I really feel for that guy.
Absolutely. Swain (No. 19) is a knobhead and a dirty player...it was clearly seen in the first England test this year with his headbutt against Jonny Hill. This time, it was an intentional and cynical attack on another player rendering him injured and unable to play. Should have been a red card.
Mounga took 1m 29s to kick for touch after a high tackle penalty in the 69th minute. Foley took 39 seconds for that final penalty that was reversed to a scrum.
@@blackflamesolutions526 still Australians have no one to blame but themselves. After earning a penalty at that time why do you need to take a risk by wasting time 🤦🏾♂️
From the moment the ref says 'time on' to the moment Foley is penalized, only 7 seconds have passed on the game clock. Everything before that is 'time off'. For such a crucial decision like that, which obviously was going to give the all blacks a free win, you would think the ref would be screaming in Foley's ear demanding he kick it out and making it obvious for everyone to see. That penalty single-handedly cost the Wallabies the Bledisloe Cup, so you would think a little bit more care and clarity would've been put into that decision.
@@wallywest9257 no, Foleys lack of decision making in the last 40 seconds to simply just kick the ball out is what our you the game. You Australains are fkn cowards and its pathetic all of you make victims out of these men who are actually playing that take this loss like real men. Then there's the delusional Australian fans 🤣😂🤣😂 what a real disgrace. And it was also 10 seconds, not 9. No one is on their own clock, their all on the referees clock. Silly kid
Let's all just take a second to appreciate the great depth of Australia that is Nic White and Bernard Foley. The guys winning it for the opposition, the real heros.
To be fair both teams made some dumb decisions! But for me the real “hero” was the french ref, hopeless beyond belief!! French refs are as useful as a pair of tits on a nun!! 😒
Wanted australia to win it, we still need to change the whole coaching and staff.. AB's has never looked so beatable till now...😪 probably gona lose to Scotland or Japan first time next 🤣🤣 at this rate
Forward pass there from Foley to Calloway - no try there would have made a difference. Also, I am glad to see a ref with the guts to punish time-wasting.
the wallabies had the game won right there hands down the dominant team, the pussie ref had a hissy fit and gave the game to nz on a silver platter, hang your heads in shame what an embarrasing way to win, dont expect to win the world cup with a ref in your pocket be lucky to make the finals with your scratchy performances.................
the chance for the abs to take it at the death balanced out the obvious forward to Kellaway AND the obvious REd for SWAIn (his 6 week suspension shows it was red worthy.) Abs still had to score from that scrum-which they did and no matter what letters aussie write aint gonna change 39-37 ABs current bled run 20 yrs.Goin for yet another Rugby championship today. Other INTL teams are wasting more and more time when they play NZ, it's cause they can't hack the pace.
Neutral (Irish) fan here. Regardless of the ref’s call, in that last play, the Wallabies had 3 defenders up against 2 NZ attackers, and still managed to concede the try. Two of them double-tackled Jordan poorly and didn’t stop the offload, while Koribete also defends poorly by stepping in too much on Barrett, clearly not trusting his inside defenders (tbf they showed him why he shouldn’t). They should look in the mirror before complaining soccer-style to the ref that he’s cost them the Rugby Championship. Also, Foley’s offload for one of their tries was laughably forward, while D’arcy Swain should have seen red and should receive a decent ban. On balance, the ABs deserved the win in my opinion. To gratuitously throw in a grenade to finish, I hope referees penalise time wasting much more going forward, throughout a match. Certain un-named teams who play a big forward-oriented style benefit from slowing things down with water breaks, players taking a knee, etc. to allow their big boys to recover. I much prefer the running rugby on display today! [EDIT: This seems to have unleashed the classic debate about Ireland’s performances in the RWC. I accept Ireland’s record is pretty abysmal, and that they could well slip back down the rankings, but I don’t see how that refutes anything in my original comment.]
That referee should never ref again, I wouldn’t even have him in junior grade. The art of a good ref is to control 5he game, not influence it. Big, big fail
Great game, strange finish. AB's did well to hold off our onslaught at the end there and crush our hearts. If we can work on our discipline, and not have swain in a gold jumper ever again then we might have another classic spectacle next weekend. I feel the wallabies are finally building momentum. That trophy will be ours again soon. Wishing Tupaea a speedy recovery.
gotta give it to the wallabies they managed to have a monster comeback after being down 31-13 and they came back and took the lead for a bit - I honestly feel bad for all the players that were screaming at foley to hurry up because they knew he was wasting time. but still up the ABs
I'm an AB supporter probably from b4 u were born and if the events were reversed against my team I would be absolutely gutted. I believe there is a simpler way to prevent this clock nonsense so read my comment above to reflect on my intentions.
@@zenkuda7869 yah look, I was routing for the Wallabies but that was a forward pass. The clock thing wasn't fair for me but they had gotten away with a clear forward pass
I swear players have been milking the clock like that forever. Good to see a ref actually pull a team up for it. Just unfortunate for Aussie it had to be in that situation.
@@hamishwilson4927 Yes, Australia was robbed, by themselves, not by the ref. The ref should not even need to have warn him to kick the ball, not even once, yet he did it three times, stopping the clock on the third time he warned him, isn't that warning enough? Even his teammates was begging for him to kick the ball. He made a conscious decision not to kick the ball. Then was penalized for it, so it's all on him, he robbed Australia.
@@hamishwilson4927 Deal with the incident at hand........Be honest to yourself.....in am not a New Zealanders, I'm a Trinidadian, I just watch and love rugby, what Foley attempted to do was disgraceful. Time wasting, trying to win a game, but the unavoidable fact is, had he kicked the ball immediately we would not be having this discussion. He, by his actions gave the All Blacks the victory...As for the All Blacks are guilty of time wasting, that is conjecture, but if Jimmy does something wrong, does it mean that I should copy Jimmy?, No. But, as for this incident the guilty party was a Wallaby. Yes your team lost, and you are angry about it, so it easier to point the blame elsewhere rather then were it should truly be. I love the Pumas, and trust me, if a Pumas tried what Foley did to win a game, I would aim my frustrations at them, not the other team nor the ref. William Shakespeare. "To Thine own self be true".
By the way, Foley was saying “the time is off” he pretended to think that the game was over when it CLEARLY wasn’t. He got warned multiple times. He was clearly trying to waste time. The ref made the right call. His teammate was yelling at him to kick the ball, even some of his teammates knew he was taking ages.
@Raymond O'Connor ..wow Realy Raymond pretty much blame the guy who didnt kick the ball out..they could of finished the game and won..but milking it to run the time down..🤯...like 3 times...cant blame the ref..u just have a player that blew up your chances of winning lol
Never cheered at my TV by myself harder than I have this morning. It’s games like these I wish I could rewatch for the first time.. what a show these two put on for the fans.
I agree they looked like they were gonna dominate them by a mile in two periods of the game not to mention at one point had a almost 20 point lead just to sub off fowards and then somehow fall asleep lol. I feel like they need to look at there bench and bring new young players in asap
was lucky to witness this front row and it was an emotional rollercoaster watching the last minute and overtime, wallabies had a great comeback, well played by both teams! good job AB :D
Ref was spot on at the end but and this is a big but, we see this week in week out and it never gets called. Hopefully this sets the precedent that time wasting will lead to a free kick. I want to see reds being strict on this with scrum resets too. For too long the end of games have been cynically ruined by time wasting. Let's put a stop to it for good.
you cant be serious! spot on? he is a bloody french theif! Australia Rugby should pull out from the last match, the kiwis should play each other next week, its disgacefull how they constantly help the All Blacks
one of the passes (foleys short ball to kelloway I think) was questionable. the one to Samu was absolutely fine (I thought it was forward initially, but overhead replay shows it was just a perfect pass). The referee gave Foley just 7 seconds before reversing the penalty...thats not right dude. Any rugby fan who loves fair competition knows it was a shitty way to end the game.
@@XD-it3ig I don't go for the wallabies 😆 They are awful. I grew up in New Zealand, it's where I learned to play rugby actually. I support fair rugby and this was honestly damaging to the games reputation, which was already pretty poor. 7 seconds is not enough time to kick for touch.
@@Waywind420 it was 7 seconds after he stopped the clock a second time for time wasting. listen to the REF while the replay was going on. He warned him to kick many times. The centers knew what was up and were shouting for him to hurry as well.
Tony Johnson is just fantastic isn’t he? All the energy in the world tonight and just as much for the Wallabies as for the All Blacks, truely a man who’s just commentating for the love of the game as well as being an ABs fan.
And unlike most Australian commentators (who have to say are boorish, utterly partisan, ignorant wankers) Tony Johnson actually does understand the laws of the game.
The Aussies wanted this game bad!! real bad, the attrition rate for the walking wounded was unreal, on both sides, haven't seen that fire in the belly of our mates across the ditch in a long while, and it was great to watch, they played with real passion, not to be out done the AB's responded, still the boys are making a lot of the same old stupid mistakes at times, our boy Taukei'aho and the usual standouts were in the zone, awesome game, pity about the penalty at the end, and no doubt there'll be some discussions long into the night over some cold ones.
Not complaining about the penalty but have seen every team on more than one occasion waste much more time than Foley did and no penalty given. Wonder why ref gave this one.
Australia got away with so much against South Africa during te first test, and this is how a match should be officiated. Fair refereeing will definitely help Southern Hemisphere teams during the WC 2023.
I don't think us southern hemisphere teams really need any help winning world cups. We have won all of them bar one. The northern hemisphere has with all honesty been pretty embarrassing over the years. Ireland are ranked number one, but haven't even made the final four of a world cup.
@@0077725 I agree that the southern hemisphere is better than the northern hemisphere. Nevertheless in 2011 the referee of the final has favored the new zealand
For Aussies crying foul - feel for you but... i) significant forward pass from Foley to Kellaway for one of his tries, and far worse ii) Swain should have been gone for the match for deliberately and cynically taking out the AB reserve #12 and leaving the AB's having to improvise. And Foley did fluff around at the end so fair play ref.
New Zealand government probably bribes the Rugby governing body because they need Rugby to get up in the morning. Without it their lives are just bleak and grey and filled with sheep.
Dunno why they cried foul... rugby rule 20.5 - penalty and free kicks must be taken immediately with the exception of a penalty kick for goal for which the kicker is given a maximum of one minute
his own players were telling him to hurry up and kick, his forwards were still huddled trying to waste time. The forward pass try should not had been allowed. Good deserved win for NZ
I think you're trying to justify a poor win for the All blacks. They were soundly beaten in the second half and the way they obtained victory directly by the referee's whistle is a blight on the game. Up until that moment they were getting destroyed 27 points to 3 in the second half. If this was your team being given 7 seconds to kick the ball down field from the 'time on' call you'd probably have a different outlook. Very weird decision by the referee.
@@Waywind420 If it was the AB's getting penalized for wasting time on near full time, resulting in a winning try to the opposition, I'd call whoever didn't kick it an idiot. Raynal was correct by the law in his call. Grow up.
@@Waywind420 10 all at half time so I don't know how that equates to 27 to 3? Reynals call at the end is debatable but there were debatable calls through out that may have made the ast call irrelevant. Two Aussie tries awarded with the last pass being fwd, the last at least two metres fwd which can't be called propelling it backwards. It is what it is
Seriously that was amazing. I can't wait for next year's world cup I'm almost giddy with excitement every game will be closely fought. Both teams were bloody magnificent if only the Aussies had kept their discipline.
@@pastorofmuppets8834 Both teams have relevantly younger sides, so any losses will be good character buliding for their future teams. Old superstars like Dan Carter or Mort lock era is gone, next gen have to earn the right to be on top. Just like in the nothern hemisphere development
Game of rugby at its best. One of the best game ever played. Thank you AB and WB for a great game. Next week will another crack one. Hopefully WB will make history this time.
That disgusting thing darcy did could very well end that mans career. If he tore or sprained his ACL he'll never be able to run or move the same no matter the PT
Two forward passes ahead of Aussie tries: 60:38 Foley to Kelloway and 72:08 Koroibete to Samu. The Aussie #12 is even hurrying up Foley to kick it out just before the ref blows his whistle Also a red card offense on that leg breaking Swain tackle on Tupaea All masking the fact that it was a close game and the All Blacks are still in serious trouble under Foster
That was a red card on the Kiwi player , for coming in second in the tackle and deliberately lifting the Australian player's legs above the horizontal , then dropping him down
@@patrickdowdle9931 wake up. Ref can't card that soft tackle when a deliberate leg break is a red. Also the purpose head clash before his leg gets broken. And then the crusher tackle after the leg break. All much more dangerous than that tackle mate and only 1 yellow came out of that 15 seconds of play. Yous actually got helped by the ref against south africa and nz so just be happy that you got close and are going to lose by 50 when you go to kiwiland, much like argentina
Sotutu is NOT brilliant! 1. He forgot his support in his selfish break & then kicks the bloody ball! 2. He does not scrum properly. (hold locks in for first push), & periodically, lean/push on butts, not under. He has a lazy work rate & needs a good lecture on 'team' play! Bring back Savea & Frizell asap.
Congrats to the ABs, but mighty come back from the Wallabies when it looked done and dusted. Correct call on the Aussie wasting time in the final few minutes, he completely ignored the Ref even with his own players yelling at him to kick it out. Nick White is going to lose the Wallabies a crucial game with his dummy spits, Refs aren't exactly going to be overjoyed with his constant moaning and screaming about decisions going against his team. Looking forward to a hell of a second round in a few weeks.
First five-eighth is seeming like a cursed position for Australia lately. They haven't settled on a 10 in a long time. Noah Lolesio gets blooded in a must-win game against NZ at Eden Park - almost a blood sacrifice to the NZ rugby gods. Wallabies lose by 30-odd. Welcome to test rugby, brah! Then Quade Cooper comes back from the dead and actually plays really well, until he suffers a season-ending injury. So Foley also comes back from the dead (after it's decided that James O'Connor is not the guy for the job), plays like a champion and nearly wins it for them, only to commit harakiri in the most laughable fashion by cynically winding down the clock with seconds remaining. And the biggest joke of all was that he could've just kicked it out and had the team jog leisurely up to the lineout, which they had the throw-in for. He got greedy, blatantly ignored the ref telling him to get a move on, and paid the ultimate price. That's kinda hilarious, if you ask me. I'm reminded of that Aesop fable about the dog with the steak in his mouth who sees his reflection in the lake, and thinks it's another dog with a steak. He thinks he will take that steak from that dog, then he'll have two! So he opens his mouth to snatch the non-existent steak, dropping the real steak in the lake in the process, never to be seen again. Foley was that dog. He had the steak in his mouth, got greedy, and f*%ked the whole thing up.
@@leannecampbell4551 It's not a crap analogy at all. Victory was in Foley's grasp, and he got greedy. Had he just kicked it out, Australia would have won but for some miraculous situation. He blew it.
18:11 this young ALL BLACK team needed this moment. For too long the comebacks and miracles and clutch plays by Richie McCaw and the ALL BLACKS to take games from the brink of defeat was the hallmark of that era of McCaw/Carter ... these legends of the McCaw's, the Carters, the Kainos, the Reads, the Rokocoko'ss and the Sivivatu's and the Conrads and the Nonu's were the ones who with their leaderships lead by the iconic Captain Richie McCaw would storm back and take teams to pieces as they would gather their straps and dominate the final 10-15 minutes of a game. These young bloods of the Mo'unga,s and the Barrett's and the Ioane's were merely the benefactors of those iconic dominance ... when those icons moved on, these young guys had to know what it was like to lead a charge and to take the clutch ... this moment at the 18:11 minute showed they are now becoming that which made the era of McCaw the most dominant of any era in the history of Rugby.
Lol...try being a San Francisco Giants fan. Im 56...and for DECADES, they were terrible....one year, they lost 100 games in their 162 game season... I'm sure glad that the first rugby game that i ever saw...was an AB game....1997...Jonah Lomu romping.....diehard AB fan since that first game..
Hahahaha.... Who has been at the lowest point...hahaha I think Wallabees take that.... I think it was 2016...I could be wrong........Trinations game just set to go.....game in NZ Announcer commented on the huge change in real estate prices, since the last time Australia had won in that stadium..... It is fun though, watching the multitude of ways that the Wallabees find to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
Springbok here. I'm just wondering why Australia played so dirty in the ruck? Like hands in the ruck, not rolling away, leg breakd, crusher tackles, head attacks in the ruck, making invisible rucks next to where the attackers are clearing out oh and making no efforts to get back onside and not getting penalized, most of australias steals at the ruck were illegal. Almost as if they got a tip off saying "you're allowed to play this way". Ref made poor decisions all over the field against the all blacks, terrible game to watch.
Even his own team mates were screaming at him to kick the ball out and eventually waving there arms already accepting defeat when the ref blew the whistle for time wasting
This was on my birthday and I was quite surprised to see the all blacks playing on my birthday, witch is a thursday. And jordie Barrett won the game on my birthday and he was the number 15, and that day was the 15th september. I was soooo happy after the game :)
It would be fair if they made that call every time for any team, but the fact that they made the once-in-a-lifetime call in a game-defining situation in favor of New Zealand (historically favored by referees) makes it lack credibility.
@@staticman1263 The boo hoo the call, but this call never happens? Hence it is also inconsistent. Fair play to call that call, but moving forward this should be the standard.
final penalty awarded to aus at 78:27. Fast forward 30 seconds of celebrating by the wallabies (78:57), the ref (righfully so) warns the wallabies and calls time off - you need to kick the ball - stop wasting time (professional foul - running down the clock). foley continues to muck around for another 6 seconds (79:03) and to his credit, finally looks like he is about to kick (after screams from his own back-line to kick the ball out) but by then the ref has had enough. he wants a fair game and is fed up with the anti-competitive nature of the wallabies, and calls for a free kick to the AB's. this has tinges of the infamous underarm bowl by the Australian cricket team. i was also less than impressed with the wallaby forward who was trying to milk the penalty for being lifted after being cleared out. it was incredibly soft and not past 90. i agree with the ref on this call, but the milking by the Wallaby leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as it should for anyone who appreciates competitive sport. also, the deliberate malicious knee injury on Quinn Tupea was so horrible, and a really poor reflection on the wallabies. lucky to only get a yellow for that.
Nah that’s a season ending penalty 12 weeks minimum, and how about the poor bloke on the receiving end could possibly end his career what a gutless, cowardly act,was it a directive from the coaching box because nz had no more centres left, should be an inquest
Fair play to Aussie tho, to come back from 15 down and get ahead is awesome. They have some real grit about them now, obviously the discipline wasn't great tonight, but they are looking good.
I like that all blacks aren’t the best team in the world anymore. Rugby became boring because we already knew who was going to win. Not anymore, and now rugby is exciting again
There was a hideously obvious forward pass from the Aussies. Having checked with the TMO on every other occasion, for some reason the ref DIDN’T check that clear forward pass, so it shouldn’t have been awarded-it wasn’t even close! The ref was absolutely correct to penalise them for deliberately delaying the kick out! Classic self-destruction by Australia!
Who self destructed? ABs were up 31-13 bro and would have lost but for the penalty. When you are as cock eyed and " always right" as you bro, the only friends you end up with are your pet dog as you walk around Herne Bay in the rain. Lighten up mate and enjoy the win ,without the classic Kiwi inferiority complex derived, gloat and insult to oz.
@@quickissme Def i would. Was a good call by ref and i hate time wasting. Though it is an unusual call and i have not seen it before from my memory. Plenty of time wasting by ABs when in suits them also. Lets get it out of the game i say. Enjoy your sailing on the weekend bro.
Sounds like you are making excuses for New Zealand being ordinary again. It's why they have lost to France, Ireland, South Africa and Argentina over the last 12 months. No one fears them any more. The only reason they won aside from the referee, was scoring whilst Australia was down players. New Zealand had two tries that shouldn't have been awarded - go watch the replays. Also, it's not "classic self-destruction", because as far as I know, Australia hasn't ever been penalised for "time wasting" (which NZ did in this match as well). The Australians were the better team, and if we can play like that again, we will beat this new weakened version of the All Blacks.
@@0077725 yep we been hearing that garbage for 20 years.I repeat 20 years and you watch the mighty blacks smash yous at eden park and all the other teams have to beat our 110 year domination against all comers and all this from a tiny pacific island with a paltry population and limited financial support compared to oz and the northern hemisphere teams read it and weep lol

A well deserved win! Though lots need to be improved going forward! The callous tackle from the side, should have. Been a red card, not a yellow! Trying to look inocent, while trying to snap the knee of Quinton Tupaea, was absolutely rediculous! Then to be penalized for delaying play (milking) was the last straw for the well controlled referring of this game! Truly a remarkable game played by two great teams
Great play by both teams, hard luck and hard call at the end for the Wallabies, chins up lads. I'm expecting the game at Eden Park to be hard fought. Hope Quinn recovers well. Go the ABS !
