I know he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I just love Justin Marshall as a commentator. His excitement and passion for the game is contagious. That first Ireland try is a great example of it, he's just stoked to see brilliant rugby on display.
He's a really nice bloke as well. He always has time for fans and he takes the piss out of himself. I remember he really enjoyed meeting a bunch of fans who went up to him wearing tops saying "Me oh my, I have enjoyed that, yes boy" 😂😂😂😂😂
🙄 The match was very entertaining. I had to tune out the commentary because too much talking distracts from the match. I can see the hard knocks and tackles, and even feel them. Having someone tell me how hard those tackles were.... I guess I'm trying listen to the referee's instructions and the banter between the players to appreciate the commentators flowering descriptions.
@@sollyharr As a non-New Zealander, I find the rest of your commentator squad far worse than him. So partisan that they will say anything rather than admit a fault on the part of the AB's.
Damn that Beauden Barrett intercept could have changed the whole trajectory of the game. Great awareness that the man with the ball was safely covered.
Ardie Savea is unreal. He has the pace and skill of a back, and a relentless work-rate. I was debating to myself whether Julian or Ardie has been more valuable to the ABs. Probably Julian, since he was unstoppable for so many years, but you could make an argument for either brother. Great performance by the ABs today. Disciplined, composed, and creative in attack, which had been lacking recently
I was in your shoes once. It was around 2019 that I made up my mind, and trust me I was the biggest Julz fan, the sheer power of the guy was unbelievable and he dominated for quite some time - 5 years in rugby is eternity. But 2019 Ardie and ever since, he's just been pure class at every showing. It's not just his skills and rugby IQ, or his speed and power, it's his sheer will and determination against the odds, always pumping his legs as he's been known to do. Ardie any day for me
Well done NZ. What a methodical unpicking of the Irish defence. I don't know a number of the new boys but exciting to see the All Blacks start well, I can only see them getting better.
Ardie Savea is proving to the All Blacks management that it was worth it for them to pay him that much money in his contract that he himself negotiated with them instead of going through a middleman. Good on him. This Samoan son is on beastmode anytime he steps on that field.
@@VKM33 : Things may be a lot closer if Sevu Reece had not gathered t he loose pass and ran 80 metres to score. Then the score would be AB 35: Ireland 42 ( assuming all conversions are successful)
Absolutely two of the most brilliant rugby teams right now. Beautiful and deserved win for the ABs, can't wait till that 2023 WC game against our Bleus! Cheers from Paris !
Can’t wait either Pierre. This French team looks really good. 2023 WC is looking like being the most competitive yet. Any of the top 7 teams could win, then there’s Argentina who will be tough.
@@reinderttoia4428 it was definitely planned! Awesome stuff. Like it was always the 3rd runner was getting the ball. I hope they change it up or Ireland gonna get a read on it
@@hkt1296 the only team out there that was doing a bit of reading was the AB's around minute 17. They practically went "ok,ok very good Ireland bro, I like it, now this how we roll in aotearoa cuz, keep your hands by your side and hold on tight cause it's gonna get a bit bumpy" dropped it down a gear then they shot the gap
No team in world rugby kills off a game like the All Blacks. You can hammer them from pillar to post for 60 minutes straight and they'll still beat you with 15 minutes of world class play. Ireland played very well at the start of both halves but that's never enough against the ABs, especially at Eden Park.
@@sports2hedz542 they went to Australia last year, unfortunately top 14 being thé longest championship in the world, they do it without any player from the top 4 teams so à very diminished team. Not that it prevents the aussies from bragging about a narrow victory over à french developpement team, by the way. This morning they won in japan.
First Irish try was fabulous Try by Jodie Brother was good I see Richie smiling there Try by Svue was something else, god speed Buden is from another planet, the way he thinks is Alien level Aaron smith is Masterpc Good game lads. Couldn watch the whole game but I think there is so much coordination there. Congratulations to the debutant, first game, first try, plus a scary mustache 😂
Beauden Barret's intercept changed the game from a certain try for Ireland to an eventual try for AB: a 14 point turnaround. Psychology spun here and Ireland tried to press the game: never goes well against the ABs when that happens. A couple of moments here and there , ref giving play a different take and Ireland could have had a shock result (just like England did)..looks promising for World Cup...the more teams that are competitive the better the spectacle. My money is on France, if they get the right ref on the day... Great play by NZ, to take their chances and kill a game that they could have lost
Ireland with Sexton is not the same team than without him... but Sexton without concussions would he be the same ? Despite having seen McCaw in the the crowd, i also saw his arm on the field grabbing O'Mahony's leg around 10:52...
Appreciate the never give up attitude. "Never" might be a bit overstated, but it would take a SUPREME effort. No matter what, everyone knows it will be very hard fought......and a loss to the Irish is not outside the realm of possibility. Go All Blacks!!!
Sexton! Good playmaker and superb kicker! Cheers from a former rugbyplayer in rugbys "outback" Sweden! This very clash between two superior rugbynations was absolutely bonkers! Go for it Ireland! It's very hard to stand up against the Allblacks machine!
Yep, he knocks it on and doesn't have pressure down - initially it "might" have been a high tackle and penalty try but it wasn't because it was shoulder etc
After seeing the other angles as well, his hand was in the process of slipping off the side of the ball so I guess he wasn't in control of it. Probably should've still been given it though as there was no separation
@@lazer_kiw1 I thought they had changed the rule to say as long as there was contact and no speration then it's a try. There doesn't seem to be any loss of contact
Takes over? You mean is added to the staff. Because if that's the case, Fozzie has been responsible for all the wins since he started coachin NZ in 2012
@@bremCZ well foster has covid , so Joe Schmidt has taken over selection and training as well as match preparation. That’s pretty much a temporary head coach
@@shuntacheong6836 Had Covid. Brad Mooar, Greg Feek were still there and they stepped up. They also called Joe in for Tuesday Thursday training, but the game plan didn't change. They'd already used Joe for his inside knowledge.
Great New Zealand Rugby and good effort from Ireland. The way South Africa played against Wales in the first half, unfortunately I don’t see Us Beating New Zealand or Ireland.
@@Onyx5021 True, although it was against a 2nd string bok team and a 14 man AB team, right. Those to things were a huge factor. My money says NZ and SA wrap up both series nex Saturday, Aussies are 50/50 and Scotland should prevail vs Argentinia lol.
Amazing performance by both teams ,the all blacks game plan was very similar to the game plan used by the Irish in the test last November, really pulled their pants down on that one great attack coaching
@@ally3960 NH just still play loss-averse, stand still, penalty based Rugby with few chances becoming trys; they still don't understand the gain line, winning the contact area, draw and pass and skinning players.
Pressure rugby is what WC is all about, only takes couple bad game to end the tournament. Way to beat the All Blacks is to get in front on points and stay in front putting the ABs under pressure losing their structure playing hot potato catch up rugby.
To my Māori brethren, I'm from South Africa (Tsonga). And I can't help but admire your language every single time, and I've always wanted to know what the "prayers" (if that's what I should call it) mean everytime when the commentators say before an All Blacks match? And how to say it
They are saying 'Hello' in every language the Maori/Pacific Island people here have. Because they are pushing out the English language and names now. They are all being persuaded to speak these languages and use them to replace European language and ways. The commentator can't even say New Zealand..it's very sad to watch..
@@sollyharr oh would you shut up and stop spreading misinformation. NZ is in the Pacific and english is not indigenous to this area nor is it the only language spoken here. The embracing of culture and language is the norm as it should have been years ago. If you don't like it you're free to leave.
@@Get_me_money No you're free to leave AJ...as you should have years ago..go and embrace your cuzzy bros back among the coconuts and stop trying to hijack everything...try embracing the culture we've always had (that included everyone since the start) instead of destroying it with your BS political ass kissing...you'll be suggesting we stop calling it New Zealand soon...oh wait, you lot already are..pathetic..
Outstanding performance by the All Blacks. Ireland started off flying but then they lost there composer especially in defense and the scrum line-out so where to go from now, not much time. But the All Blacks were a forceful unit especially at home. So here to next Saturday!
I thought was watching the Kiwis and All Blacks merged together. The skills, finesse, the IQ was off the charts. Elite quality stuff. But gotta give Ireland some respect, it'll be tough to get one over the All Blacks at home.
It reminds me of 1980 Wales century year when New Zealand put thirty on Wales ar Cardiff it was R.I.P Wales rugby and Ireland donning the same some 40 years later.
Can’t fault the AB’s ability to capitalise on opportunities nobody does it better A couple of dodgy calls and that score line got very stretched , just before halftime is a clear knock on
to say this match was pulsating would be an understatement. ABs always struggle against ireland for some reason. hey rugby union do you guys mind popularizing this sport in the USA, i didn't even know there was a match till 5mins ago before i posted this. do what fifa is doing with soccer in the US. we're a huge mkt
@Paddy le Blanc I certainly think that the scoreline isn't to representative of the match as a whole. Ireland were superior in the first 20 Minutes but really lost it after that. If they had kept playing like they did at the start this Test Match would've looked a lot different...
JGP played well but made 2 crucial mistakes: taking the quick tap at 14-5 when a makeable penalty would have cut the score to 6, going on his own from near his own goal line when they were down by 3 scores I think. Both plays out Ireland into a deeper hole. Don’t get me wrong I love the way he moves the ball quickly and works the short side. He needs to be. Better game manager
Mate to be honest Ireland looked better with the ball, they had more cohesion, start Taukei'aho we need some starch up the middle before going out wide
Yep. Replacement props also showed how week Ofas scrummaging is, he should have been dominating regularly. Something is wrong with the Irish scrum and maul, without these it’s going to be hard yakka to get a win in NZ. Mid week side strangely had same weaknesses against the MABs.
New Zealand played with brains and created tries out of nothing because of that, making Rugby Union look incredible and a match of excellent enjoyment. That's how it should be played and officiated. GJ ! Ireland will learn a lot from that. Realize how clever some of the Kiwi's plays were.
Congrats to the all blacks, ruthless in the first half and outrageous defence in the second half. Scott Barrett should not have been on the pitch though and I hope he’s cited
As an Irishman I fear for us in the next two tests. All Blacks are incredible. We're playing the same old OAPs and wondering why we don't blood any depth.
absolutely. and they got beat in the scrums too which is a concern. furlong's surely carrying too much 'condition' as they say in racing circles, the lad's like a banger ready to pop.
Much closer game than the scoreboard suggests, Ireland very unlucky not to get 2 trys, add in a couple of avoidable errors, on balance still a deserved All Black's win, but the commentators are now recognising Ireland as a major threat, which wasn't the case just a few years ago.
