Always awesome having our brothers, the old foes from SA over here in NZ to put on a show and push our boys to their limits. Great game by both teams, especially that Bok bench when they came on, really changed the tempo of the game 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Arohanui ki a koe me tō whānau Eben (love to you and your family Eben). Rugby is about respect, honour and tradition. No matter what happens on the field these two teams will always show these attributes towards each other after the game, thats why these teams are consider some of the best.
What a great game. Shannon Frizzel, Will Jordan and Mark Telea, outstanding games. Proud of our boys, they took it to the Springboks and largely kept them out of the game. However, that try from Kwagga Smith towards the end, that was world class - what a talent. Our condolences for Eben's loss.
The boks showed good fightback. Weathered the storm and went about putting themselves in a position to threaten. Certainly not all doom and gloom. The All Blacks were just on one of those nights.
That NZ 1st try! Not many players have the speed of thought or ability to get tackled, put the ball down, get up and then go again so quickly! Will Jordan is special!
As A Springbok supporter, well done All blacks! Great to see you back at your best again! If Springboks can't get the WC this year I really hope the AB do 😊
@@gunputt Not sure why you still hate England that much , even after beating them to 2 world cups , Is there a time when sport fans will just be sport fans without hating the other teams 😅
As an Springbok supporter well done to the All Blacks. Well deserved! If you guys can keep your foot on the peddle like you did during the first 25min of the game you guys can beat any team and reclaim your spot as the number 1 team in the world.
@leonnortje8330 - NZer here - cheers mate! Big respect to the Boks, they never give up and always give us a super-tough game! Would be good if the ABs could grab the World Cup this year but hard to see it with the Northern teams looking really tough at present. If we can't win it then I'd like to see SA or Aussie grab it - keeping it down south!
One thing I like about the Rugby fraternity is the respect shown from supporters of South Africa and New Zealand in the high praise of both teams.proud to be part of the Rugby fraternity.
These two giants of Rugby have just sent warning signs to the rest of the world for the RWC. The ABs won today, but the RWC 2023 story has just begun. Looks like both these powerhouses are on track to ensure the RWC stays in the hands of the Southern Hemisphere. Be afraid. Be very afraid.... Condolences to Eben and his family and to the Springboks. From a hearty ABs supporter.
I think both these two giants are written off as favourites for the WC, but i think people will be surprised. The AB's are back to their best and the Boks are building up to it, no doubt they will find their feet again when Pollard returns to number 10
@@r9715i don't think anyone wrote SA off Ireland were very lucky to win at home and France won at the very end of maybe the most brutal game i ever saw, the AB's didn't seem to well, especially after losing at home to Ireland but nobody sane would ever write NZ off a RWC
There was kind of a rumour lately suggesting that the All Blacks reign might be over 🤔… It seems to me that they are still at their best ! As a french rugby fan, I think that the opening game of the next World Cup should be a spectacular and thrilling one !
I think the rumour stems from the popularity of Rugby in New Zealand declining in the last decade or so. The NZR system relies heavily on getting players involved in Rugby at the junior level (age 5-13) & then build those players throughout High School. But NZR has been losing players to other sports (soccer, basketball & rugby league have grew massively in popularity) & they’re losing them at the junior level. In turn we have started seeing Rugby Clubs having to close it doors due to them not being able to field teams because they lack players. It’s only a matter of time before we see it take it’s toll at the international level.
@@name200 No. If it were all about numbers, then England, South Africa and France should have been kicking Ireland and New Zealand's ass for years. It's a classic case of quality over quantity.
@@name200Youre only talking about club matches which aren't as big as test matches in that regard test matches are still as big as ever its the dumb rules WR have brought in that are pissing people off and the cards
Congratulations All Black go out there and win all your coming games im annoyed with some of this pepple are talking against your team but go go go who cares what they are saying just go and bring your victory trophy back home GOD BLESS YOU ALL
As a New Zealander big ups to the saffa boys ! Unlucky you couldnt get the win for Eben . Condolences to him and his family. All the best in the world cup!
That commentary for the Frizell try tickled my soul. The second time he pronounced “Frizell” as he planted the ball, it was music to my ears. Almost as great as “gets it out to Dagg, Dagg, Israel Dagg!! Still going!!”
Great game! All Blacks just too good for us today. A number of All Black players were simply in a class of their own! Jordan, Frizzell. Just pure brilliance! Springboks showed heart to come back a little, but I felt the game was gone after the first 20 minutes. New Zealanders remain legends on and off the field.... you'll see it even in the comments...
Le match d'ouvertiure de la coupe du monde va etre tres difficile pour la France. Esperons que cela ne se termine pas en Beresina pour les francais. En tout cas, ca sera un veritable test pour les joueurs francais
As a springbok supporter it’s such a joy to see them utilise the backs, we are playing exciting rugby finally 😊. All blacks, no surprises, you guys always show up and put on an amazing performance. Well done 👏
...yep, you're right, Mo'unga makes that little guy with the weird hair from the chiefs look very ordinary and Jordan is all class, he's a superstar, 22 tries in 22 tests, plus he set up two other tries tonight also.
and how sneaky are the organisers to have at least 4 of them on 1 side of the draw - pppppfffftttt, how good really is NH rugby if you need to stack the top 5 teams on one side of the draw - so dumb
Just pissed off with RWC draw that will more than likely see NZ/SA in the quarter Final, when it should NZ/SA in the final, but what about the Aussies going down to Argentina with a little help from Jaco Peyper
Fabulous performance by the ABs; they look a much more cohesive side than they have been in more recent times. SA never shy away from a physical and aggressive match, and have always been one of our biggest foes. Classic Southern Hemisphere footy.
Actually Im european and think France rugby is best north hemisphere have to offer. But bro, be real. SA plays best rugby on earth. It will be back to back. Even it will make me very happy France to win first.
As an All Black supporter, its puzzling to me why Marx never started! Marx has always played his best rugby against the All Blacks, and i can't help but feel that Mbonambi is passed his best. I understand the Springboks' coaches thinking when they started Willemse. He needed game time at 10 since he's the official 3rd Flyhalf in the squad. That being said, why didn't Libbok replace Willemse at halftime? Sure the All Blacks were magnificent today, but i do feel that the Springbok coaches shot themselves in the foot! I firmly believe that the All Blacks are favorites at the world cup, with Springboks my 2nd choice.
@@JaemanEdwards I believe France will edge it. ABs are playing well right now but I think they have left it too late to instill in themselves the mind-set of being a dominant force. And mind-set in the WC is everything. France and Ireland have the advantage of going into the WC with a mind-set of having beaten all of the world's big guns in the past year. The ABs don't have this.
@@helenaville5939 What the All Blacks have, is the mindset of the greatest team in history. And the mindset of a three time World Cup winner. Ireland and France don't have this.
@@JaemanEdwards That's incorrect. They have the mind-set of being the greatest rugby-playing country in history, not the greatest team in history. This ABs team never played in a WC before. Every country in this WC (and every past WC) is a new fresh team/squad that can't lay claim to any past WC glory. And by the way, the AB's well-earned mindset of being the greatest rugby-playing country in history didn't help them very much a few months ago when they were beaten by Ireland and France. So even that mind-set is not a guaranteed advantage. The only mind-set that really matters is the most recent mind-set, in other words the most recent victories belonging to the present squad. But hey I could be wrong. I think we can both agree that this will be an amazing RWC and I hope you'll enjoy it and that your side goes all the way to the final. 👍☘💚
@@helenaville5939 Winning big tournaments is a mindset passed down from team to team. France U20 for example just won the U20 World Championships for a 3rd consecutive time. There were totally different players from the 1st to the 3rd. But the mentality was the same. The All Blacks also have this mentality. They are always confident that they can win, even when things aren't going well. The Crusaders are another example of a winning mentality being passed down. It is a verifiable entity. And history has shown that form is a terrible indicator of the eventual winner at a World Cup. Last year's record by the All Blacks was one of their worst, yet they still just lost to both Ireland and France. I think your theory is highly flawed.
Only seen the highlights but it looked a cracking game. Personally, I don't really give too much credence to WR rankings. My money is on one of these two teams to win the RWC. Also refreshing to see true Boks rugby fans congratulating the ABs on the win. Great stuff
@@JaemanEdwardswhen they were lucky to beat Australia and SA at home a few months ago that was when I felt theyre very beatable especially when NZ have destroyed SA and Australia since
@@Trajan2401 I know what you're saying. I actually have money already down on my World Cup picks. The early odds are always the best odds, and I didn't want to be swayed by recent results like I've done in past world cups. I think France will finally take this cup on home soil. But I'm more than happy to lose my wager if the mighty All Blacks win it for a 4th time.
A as French fan, good to see The ABs going back to their ruthless best. The opening match should be something. But they will need to be at the top for 80 minutes. Here, as against Agentina, i've got the impression they give everything during the first half and then tend to fade a bit. Will Jordan is frightening.
All Blacks really played well here. Their ball movement just outstanding. They really keep the ball going so fast while pushing strong, very well done guys. Boks caught offguard with this rapid movements.
Bok supporter and rugger lover. Congrats to your guys. That opening 20 minutes.....reminded me of the saying "sometimes you are the pigeon...sometimes the statue." Today the Bokke were the statue. End of story. Well deserved victory!
feel it was more the bull got out of the gate first, and it was hard to chase down and catch, but that's life, still a great game, feel for the worlds greatest lock though....
2 things that I was greatly pleased with and it did have an impact on the game, subbing out Cane for Papalii which either nullified SA strength over the ball and ball hawking and the impact of Ennor can't be underestimated!!!
Condolences to you Eben Etzebeth for your loss of your loved one. To front up in the white hot atmosphere of test rugby against The All Blacks say's so much about you. As a NZer and All Black man, we send you all the best and respectful condolences to your family. Arohanui brother..... Well done All Blacks. Huge physical game against our greatest foe. May both teams do well as they prepare for the RWC.
Good game boys. South Africa played well in the 2nd half and showed y they are world champions and still a big threat. I so can't wait to world cup time as long as it stays in the southern hemisphere ill be happy
The intensity of the 1st 15mins from the AB's was unbelievable. AB's usually start hard & fast, but Ive never seen anything like that before. Ive also never seen such a successful tactical kicking game from the AB's. Nearly every kick was on target & chased effectively - absolutely superb. Credit & huge respect to SA for coming back & making a game of it, & condolences to the Etzebeth family on their loss. Its early days but as a Kiwi you couldn't wish for anything better in the run-up to the RWC, & it's nice to see Fozzie's plan & vision coming together after his public lynching. (Imagine if Fozzie were to win the RWC, only to be immediately terminated)
@@Ric-Flair It's always amusing when people like you blame Fozzie for the losses yet refuse to give him any credit for the wins, & instead credit his assistants. 🤣🤣 Oh well, haters are gonna hate no matter what.....
I don't know how everyone still criticises Beauden, is All Blacks best number 15 right now no one matches him everyone sees all the flashy stuff in Stevenson, Jordan & JB. But no one sees the work that goes on behind the ball, the organizationally skilled stuff, everyone just couch coaches never played a game in their life 👌🤣 p.s will prpbably win Rugby player of the year once 2023 is all said and done
Beauden was class, his influence in unlocking defenses was instrumental, even though true many wanna see Stevenson out there, he played well, Frizell in that 1st half dang...
Hope more games get hosted at Mt Smart, bloody good venue. Over the years I thought it was pretty meh but it just seems a lot more up to current standard especially with the lighting and the pitch looking fantastic.
Awesome team try. Cody Taylor is always a great link man in situations like these and the role he plays is underrated. I loved the skill by Beaudy when he did the round the back pass whist being pushed back in the tackle.
@@user-yb9hi3us4p Totally! I’ll take a try like this, where almost everyone handles the ball (forwards with beautiful hands, no less!), and crash over any day of the week.
@@drh02Let's not forget that Foster gave not one thought about ever having Jordie Barrett play at 12, and it was only a midfield injury crisis that saw JB get given a chance there. It was obvious that he was cut out for the midfield. (He played a whole lot of rugby there at high school and NZ Colts level, he's big and strong, has good hands, kicks well, is robust on defence, plus he kinda lacks the express pace required to play in the back 3 at an elite level.) Even when prompted on the matter by a journalist, Foster still showed zero interest in what was pretty clearly a very good fit for the team. I don't really rate Foster's coaching at all. But I admit that Steve Hansen seemed to rate it, and I don't doubt that he knows a lot more about coaching than I do.
@godisbollocks you don't know that. It's funny how people think they know what the coaching team are thinking and talking about behind closed doors. Could it be a possibility that he didn't want to give away his tactics too early before the WC?! Now everyone gives the credit of the AB wins to Jason Ryan and Joe Schmidt and they forget that Foster is still the head coach. I'm stoked that Jason Ryan is forwards coach. He's brilliant and we have seen huge improvements under his leadership. I'm also impressed at the depth Foster has been trying to build in the AB's. Yes there has been some funny combo's but we need to check our options before the WC incase of injury. Sorry for the long winded reply.
@@drh02 If not for all those injuries to Ennor, ALB, Goodhue, Havili, etc, I see no evidence that Foster would've even considered JB at 12. Even when asked point blank by a journalist about trying JB at 12 just as that injury crisis was unfolding, Foster still replied in the negative. He simply couldn't see what was quite obvious. Now he does, finally.
What a performance from the All Blacks. I wasn’t expecting such a start against a quality Boks team. Fritzell, and whole forward pack were on! Mounga, Jordan were outstanding Boks improved in the 2nd half. Looking forward to the World Cup
Congrats to the ABs from SA. The first 20 minutes were unbelievable. There is nothing like matches between these two. Balls to the wall on the field but huge respect off the field.
Will Jordan's rugby IQ at 0:45 regarding the tackle is a very good example for referee training. He isn't held when hitting the ground and so the tackle isn't complete; he releases the ball before getting to his feet and because he's never been held to completion and no one is in contact with the ball (a ruck is definitely not formed as well) he's good to go and pick it up again and have another go...
Aaaah this is why I love this game ! Even though we lost haha congratulations to the all blacks as always they have shown great sportsmanship, they're literally the only team I'm okay with losing too. Tge second Australia wins I blame the ref lol
Barrett's short kicking game seems to combine really effectively with Jordan's ability to make a break and contest the ball. Anytime you can get Jordan is space or behind the line is a good time, and Barrett seems to be able to put those kick-passes right where they need to go.
It's the perfect way to neutralise a rushing defensive line. The one these two magicians pulled off last year was sublime. A pre planned attack where a precision chip by Beaudy was regathered at pace by Willy J before effortlessly stepping the fullback to score. Magic out of nothing..
All Blacks always churn out players like Will Jordan. Nothing physically remarkable but my god, what a player. More I see him play the more I admire the art.
the game is brilliant . first 25 mins what a breathtaking minutes. the game is absolutely brilliant. sboks gave a real fight at 2 half. but that is too late. but the game is absoluelty brillaint and syntilating. gretting to the all blacks for the victory. but springboks my sec fav team after nz good luck for the rest of the rugby championship campaign and for the world cup. also for all blacks keep this game you played in first 25 mins . good luck for the rugby ch'ship and for the world cup as well. always a ab fan from sri lanka.
we won but we're far from complete, they really had some good training sessions the plan was executed with quite a lot of discipline considering pace and rushing defence, i believe both sides have more in them
The Boks were certainly off their game a bit with quite a few unforced errors. Maybe the ABs went a bit off the boil after the first quarter, but their discipline held. Lots of scope for improvement for both teams, for sure. But, it was a solid, entertaining match.
@@rothnieoosthuizen3728to beat these Northern hemisphere teams we need to be at our best that's including NZ and SA, this test match showed we both have a lot to work on, good luck at the World Cup
WATCHING SHANNON FRIZZEL WAS ALMOST LIKE SEE JAROME KAINO BACK IN THE TEAM. HE WENT BEAST MODE!!! WAS AWESOME TO SEE AN WILL JORDAN ON THE WING WAS A MANACE WITH BALL IN HAND!!!. All BLACKS ALL DAY🤜🤜🤜🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿
ABs look to be coming back to form at the right time. Great to see but makes me somewhat worried as an Irish fan. If we face off in the quarters then I only see one winner unfortunately. Great game and good luck against the Aussies.
It's a knockout tournament and anything can happen, especially to the favourites. We know that as AB's fans. I wouldnt worry too much. Ireland are a good side and will be there or there abouts . Will be tough facing you guys if we meet.
@@432htz3agree, NZ, SA, Ireland and France are the top 4 sides in the world right now and they can all beat each other on any given day. It will be tough for all teams, but this world cup will probably be the best yet, can't wait for it.
