BS. From the way the barbarians played at the end it was totally about winning. That's not barbarian rugby and was disappointing to see them finish in such a lame way.
If Razor will be employed by England or south Africa would be something scary for opponents. I don't know why the bosses of NZRU left such a talented and charismatic coach outside the job he deserved? Such a disgrace.
Yep, i will be England and just like Rennie with Australia last time the deal is already done. The All Blacks will rue the day they mucked Robertson around.
Agree. As a Springbok fan, it is confusing why he is not with the ABs! He played very well in this game! Great player to have on the bench as he covers so many positions!
@@leewilliams2763 He must have missed how many key tackles leading to tries? Three? And he couldn't turn that breakout into a try when he should have. Time in Japan has done him no favours. He's no All Black.
Yeah , I wondered about that too , was quite obvious . I must say however , the game was pretty well refereed apart from this incident and another at 8.10 - 8.20 . Looks very much like a truck and trailer by the Baba"s No18 .
@@tonyrata4796 The referee was very lenient on the Barbarians for not yellow carding two players for a no-arms tackle and an intentional knock-on. And yet Christie got yellow carded within a couple minutes of the match starting. Very questionable inconsistent refereeing.
@@joeskienz I agree it was questionable but until international referees are all trained to the same standard worldwide it will remain so . But I don't expect that anytime soon ! Cheers.
On the one hand I love the fact that the Baa-Baas continue to be relevant in the professional era, on the other I miss the old school Baa-Baas that would try to run it the length of the field in the 79th minute. But oh well. Great game.
ABs XV were far too inaccurate and made too many mistakes. Horrible refereeing for both teams though. The rucks and mauls were a complete and utter mess. Referee was allergic to the Barbarians and didn't want to give them a yellow card - DMac shoved out of the way, a no-arms tackle, an intentional knock-on, and multiple ruck infringements in their red zone all late in the game. Typical inconsistent European refereeing.
In a festival game with the added advertisement of being played on the advent of Remembrance Day you don't send a player off on this occasion when its supposed to be played in the spirit of Barbarian running rugby.
Im an old kiwi and even this old man knows the barbarians is the greatest club on earth. Every single legend in union has played for the black and white hoops.
....very true, and in the nearly 60 years I've been watching them they've always played with that flare and abandon of there being nothing to lose. With Robertson coaching then for one week you would think they had been together way longer, I was amazed.
I think Luke Peirce now knows why he's reffing this game and not one of the big ones. Incompetence or just biased. Whatever, inconsistent rulings all game but what the heck, the BaaBaas won right
@@Trajan2401 it also showed up Leon MacDonald's ability to coach! I cannot even understand why they did NOT pick Robertson to coach this ABs XV! I believe Robertson is with the Crusaders next year and contracted with the NZR till end of 2023?
NZ turned the ball over at the end but were to busy complaining to the ref and the babas got it back. 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏻♀️🤦♂️🤦🏿♀️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏼♂️🤦♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏽♂️
No nz won the ball but the ref was in the wrong position to see it, should have been a penalty. Watch it again. Christie on his feet got his hands on it, players on the ground wrestled it back. Not that it matters
Didn't watch the game, but I could see three terrible calls from the ref that helped the Barbarians. That was a clear turnover at the end and holding on to the ball.
Yeah that Tom Christie card was brutal. Cause he wasn't the tackler and the ball carrier kept moving on the ground once the tackle was made. So either reward the Turnover or just place the ball for the next phase
Thats a very good point. Sadly its ingrained in modern rugby yo act like that in a close match. Real baaaas would have tried to go coast to coast no matter whats at stake.
@@kaekillay ...yes definitely, there will be injuries and he'll play his part for sure. I think when they take their sabbaticals it's understood they have to work their way back into the team and that guy is amazing in his dedication, you can tell.
@@cspace1234nz Beauden, Brodie & Whitelock had sabbaticals and walked straight back into the ABs, so it depends on who you are. Patrick got called back "early" due to injuries. The whole point of them is to let the AB players earn some good money (in non world cup years) with the promise they're coming back. When they don't pick guys like McKenzie it makes a mockery of the whole system.
@@brisbane_greg ....well no it doesn't really, the three you mentioned have been genuine world class players so if they came straight back in it's not surprising. McKenzie is not a world class player and I'm assuming you know the difference. There's also a lot of competition around his spot. Most players who take sabbaticals have to work their way back in, some don't even make it, in the same way some don't make it back from serious injury
My SA A: we not making excuses, we played bad because it was the first time playing as a team. Obviously we are south africans each of us Capped for Snr Bok but it's fair to lose against the Munster. As we said, it was our first time playing together. Barbarians :Never played together, different countries, different continents, different cultures.
Geeze that touch judge who clearly isn’t been paid enough couldn’t see that play on ground after coming from the side last minute Nex minit He’s the star of next week’s game What a referee’s blinder we have coming That’s a penalty I don’t know what for but it’s in front of the sticks and England need the points and I need my bonus
This is proof how good Razor is he has only had this side for a week and they're from all over the place yet he beats the NZ XV who smashed the Ireland XV last week Fozzie should never have been coach Razor was always the man the sooner Robinson and his old boys club go the better for NZ rugby they're to blame for selecting a coach who never won anything and snubbing a coach who just about wins everything
At least foster brought in some new coaches with new ideas - agree that it's a mistake to just keep promoting the assistant coach to the top job, you need some new ideas or you will get figured out at the top level.
....nope, he's gone. The deal is already done, he will be the next England coach and NZ will rue that day for a very long time to come. He's too god for NZ Rugby, they are a pack of clowns, look at what they've produced so far.
@@cspace1234nz I cannot argue with a thing you just said.Watching the Blackferns and wayne smith ,and Razor it amazes me think of all the back-door blessings foster has received from nz rugby and also the nz rugby media in the main sky sports
@@nuddz ....that's the thing about winners, they tend to win. To me the greatest mistake of NZ Rugby was to appoint Foster with zero success record as a head coach vs the obvious. What's that about, seriously ?
Stevenson is shaping up to be a kind of Ben Smith character if I'm not mistaken?, NZ ABs, you follow? Nankavill was excellent too. In general they all looked great.
Stevenson's defense is questionable but other than that he's a classy winger, AB at some point for sure (after all Caleb Clark's defense is even worse!)
Btw,, so impressed by the AB's fans in general. Don't cry, moan and complain like the South Africans. As an Irish fan I have the greatest respect. New Zealand are a great team with a great nation of fans.
How sad, when you think what this fixture has produced in the past. RIP rugby-money has finally killed it. No longer the joyous , spontaneous running game, but a dull, predictable parody of it's glory years.
Christie was definitely over the ball and should have earned a penalty. But let's be honest - the ref put in zero time or effort into policing the rucks. It was a lottery.
How can rugby still have different in-goal area sizes? Murrayfield's in-goal is almost as big as the 22 area while other fields are as small as this one.
Why on earth did they decide to hold this at a 60k seater stadium in London during the autumn internationals? I was at that stadium for one of the NFL games and it was packed! Absolutely pointless and has done nothing to expand the audience of rugby.
@@michaelmercer2440 i am aware of that but my comment still stands it's not a true reflection of the barbarian team if they don't play a full strength ALL black team
Bad luck AB XV,close game though at least. They should have had another game on this tour, only 2 games. All the way up to the UK for that, could they not get another game against a Wales,Scotland,England,France etc... A,2nd team,or whatever they call them.
So, that’s what Razor has got at this level… the Crusaders ploys of playing men off the ball, milking penalties and obstruction runners off set pieces…. Should be well suited to coaching in the English leagues, then.😂
That may have been the most biased looking refereeing I’ve seen. Not that you’d get that from an English ref for an English team in England, but there were so many ridiculous calls and deliberately ignored infringements that I sort of can’t believe it
