@@marvinsulzer8258 It obviously wouldn't have made a difference in the long run but it would've been an amazing moment for the team and the crowd and it was definitely a handball. There's no guarantee SL would've even converted the penalty and even on the very small chance they'd have scored and somehow escaped at 1-1 TFC would thrash them leg 2 anyway.
@@marvinsulzer8258fair enough, but if that was a PK, and scored, it would have made it 1-1 and TFC would not have countered for their second goal. It was indeed a PK in my opinion..at least it would have made the second leg in TO a bit more difficult for TFC.
I used to be a ref in Montreal years ago, I vividly remember a game in Saint Laurent, I think it was a Div A U13 boys game. I was linesman, it was a crazy game, Saint Laurent went up 2-0 (away team coach bombarded me with insults saying both were offside LOL) then it went to 2-3 before SL scored in the last minute to make it 3-3. I remember a big crowd, there must've been 4-500 people in attendance (that's a lot, possibly the biggest crowd I had the pleasure of being part of a ref's team for) and they were crazy passionate all game. After the last minute equalizer one of the fans ran onto the pitch in celebration 😂😂😂 One of my best memories as a ref. I think the area just loves the game.
I highly doubt SL would itself, they'll remain a L1 team. But it's a fantastic showing for any potential CPL investors, the Quebec region is very ready for a team, clearly
Saint-Laurent itself? No, too small for a market. The reason why this attendence was high is because it was a Semi-Pro vs MLS and it is an underdog story so there's a lot of hype the cities of Montreal, Laval or even Longueuil? Yes, now the market is bigger with even more fans can tune in and support. We already have Vancouver FC + Vancouver Whitecaps FC, then why not CF Montreal (MLS) + Montreal FC (CPL)
@@SebasGS True I just like the quality of players they have rn… Some of these guys should be on a CPL team next year. As for SL, I think the smarter move is to represent a Quebec City/Laval squad like you suggested. We need a team to represent Quebec asap!
Promotion/Relegation may change that. Even though the CPL is at least 3-5 years, like 5 1st division teams, and a commitment from L1 Canada till that will work. Not a bad idea at all
Well, he did see it ... he waved it off immediately. It's more like, why didn't he give it? I guess he thought it was more ball to hand, but yeah, probably should've been a penalty.
Saint-Laurent looked pretty good actually. They had quite a few chances and weren't too bad on defending. Hope they feel proud of their accomplishment!
Well done VSL. Keep in mind this is the club that Kone with Watford was developed.I hope this brings some money to the club and players. Longstaff was class, proving himself in the middle of the park and scoring the game winner..
TFC never should have risked Bernadashi. Take nothing away from CS St Laurent for what they’ve achieved, but this is a Third division pub league side. Give the kids a chance! We already lost Insigne to long term injury. Bernadashi should have been rested
It's a domestic cup match for a qualification for the CONCACAF champion's league, I think it's good to use him regardless what level the team they're playing with.
The attendance was very good for a L1C club ! But the second Toronto goal should have never counted, and instead a penalty should have been awarded to Saint-Laurent, such an injust decision by the referee !
What happened there with the Berna goal? Why were the St.Laurent players caught off guard with one even tying his laces? Why wasn’t the goalkeeper even looking at the ball? The whistle to play would have gone right?
Great to see this knd of attendance from fans and compete from a Canadian club that is not in the CPL or MLS. STL is clearly something special as in these highlights they showed they made some good quality chances for shots on net but could not muster what it takes to find the back of the net. Hopefully this Canadian soccer trend keeps going upward.
Why would Herdman play Bernardeschi at all given the weather and lighter competition. Even Osario coming off a Hamstring injury was a risky move. They didn’t need to take these risks and still likely would have achieved their goal.
Wait bernadeschi 😂😂😂😂😂😂 wtf is he doing in this sunday league rubbish lol he just won the euros a few years ago wow, I just watched this cos its on my recommendations thats hilarious, theres so many other retirement leagues that pay good money and he went here lol
if Messi, Drogba, Villa, Nesta, Beckham, Henry, Pirlo, Lampard, Ibrahimovic, Gerrard, Robbie Keane, etc. etc. etc. etc. all went to play in MLS in the US ... why can't Bernardeschi, who isn't half the legend of the players I named ??
Maybe use the real name of the sport - football. Not sure why Montreal, one of the most multicultural cities, chooses to use the dumb term. Le fut c'est tout.
