@@Munrubenmuz Because the difference in money between a-league and npl, which is mostly tv rights, is so large that dropping divisions isn't viable for investors.
@flavio garcia as someone who has grown up without the nsl, I will also admit that the a-league has issues and is plastic, but don't drag clubs like Brisbane roar into it. Them and Perth are the closest things the a-league has to clubs with real history. Brisbane acknowledges its beginnings as a club for Dutch immigrants in the 50s. There's a reason the orange and the lion never left through the years
Yea let's not get too carried much here after a semi final against professional opposition almost filled the stadium for the first time in a long time....
WOW! I never liked "the magic of the cup" but it certainly applies here. That last goal was one of the finest I've seen in any league around the world for a while. Hope they win it in the final!
Started watching late but got just in time for the final Goal from Trifiro, couldn't believe how hard the ref was trying to save Brisbane, really hope Sydney can go all the way!
Can someone explain why there was no penalty given at the 14min mark of the game? (30ish seconds into the video) The player had clear control of the ball and the keeper ankle tapped them, should be an easy penalty there. Was it just that ref didn't have good eyeline? Watching the replay shows how clear it was. And as a side note: @My Football, I don't think you should be showing replays that include far-right extremist icons such as the EP and Ustase flags. We don't want to be giving those a platform in the beautiful game
Awesome to see a lower team make the final, just like in the FA Cup (isn't this the point). Also bemused with the attack on the A League if an NSL team wins. And also bemused with the lack of attacking on premier league teams when they lose to league 2 teams (three weeks ago when Fulham lost to Crawley Town), pick a narrative.
Stupid comment. The reason A league teams get attacked is because theres no relegation/promotion. Sydney 58 may not even be experiencing an underdog story here, rather, the quality of the A league is so poor and because of no promotion/relegation it's rare a top npl side gets to show their worth. Premier league teams dont get attacked because they have the promotion/relegation system. When a prem teams loses in the cup to a lower side it really is an underdog story because each team has earnt their position in their respective part of the footballing ladder, from premier league down to grass roots. The narrative is the same for both situations. We need promotion/relegation or the A league will collapse
I was behind the goal for the three games at Edensor Park and I could see myself in the crowd in the two games before in the highlights however not for this game
