Got to skate with Rodney a LONG time ago. I have 3 freestyle tricks and they suck. BUT, I shredded the inground pool for an hour and did the longest frontside invert of my life and he was there encouraging. The GOAT is always inspirational.

For a start he didn't invent those tricks and secondly he definitely didn't start street skating as we know it . Massively talented ? Yes . Influential , progressive ,pioneering , etc. , etc...? Yup . But he didn't invent street skating .

Ollie : Alan Gelfand . And no, it wasnt just a vert trick . Ollie shove-it was invented around 1977 by Ty Page - originally called the Ty Hop . Kickflips were done in the 1970s - go through Skateboarder or Skateboard! archives . The fathers of modern street skating are without a doubt (to anyone who actually knows ) Mark Gonzales and Natas Kaupas with honorary mentions to Tommy Guerrero , Eric Dressen and more . How old are you ?
