I love the idea of keeping items out of landfills, and not only that but making them better, too! I’d love to get my sectional recovered. Wish you were near me!
It’s a great idea as it’s better for the planet, supports small businesses and you get a great piece of furniture at the end of it 😊👍🏻 thank you for watching Franny!
I'm glad you made a video about a cheaply made sectional cause that is exactly what I'm working on right now. Didn't want to just throw it away and replace it with a brand new one so I decided to try and make it better. If I fail, it's going to be a pretty expensive craft project 😂
Having watched loads of your fabulous tutorials I decided to give it a go 👍😊your videos are wonderful and have made my project doable, thank you so much. Only half way through my fireside chair so far and two drop arm sofas to try next 😱
Fantastic work, thank you so much for sharing these videos. This couch is the same shape as mine, I’m thinking I’ll try this or hire someone instead of buying a whole new one.
Hi Chris! Thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment 😊 I’d definitely recommend it. Especially if you like your couch and fits your room well...you can then choose any fabric you want and there’s so many options!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Do you always weave the webs over and under or is it just in certain situations? Excellent video with great instructions.
Thank you so much for watching and for your support, it means a lot! Yea I always usually weave the webs over and under as it gives more support to the seat. Thanks again!!
Hi Maria! Apologies for the delayed reply. I have a video on how to do box seat cushions - here’s the link to the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0W01lFWz90s.html I haven’t filmed a video dedicated to back cushions so will make sure I film one in the near future 😊👍🏻
Hi Ricky - yes I did, I thought the new wooden legs looked much better than the metal. Thanks for watching and for your support mate, it means a lot 😊👍🏻
hey, thanks for the great video... was curious if you would be willing to disclose the cost for this sectional to fix and reupholster? Just curious. :)
Love your videos trying to convince wife we don't need new one kids are small go on I can fix them up I let you know if she agrees otherwise need to break my back little bit more 😂
Is it possible or at least not too daunting for a beginner to turn a large U shaped sectional into individual modular pieces? I’m searching high and low and not finding anything of the sort, only blogs of separating a sectional (mostly L shaped) into sofas. I’m the type of person that has to make changes to a room periodically and when your sectional can only fit one way in a rental without blocking doorways and not have the tv in front of windows, there’s not many options!
Hi Cortney. I would say it's too big a job if you aren't experienced in this sort of work. When it comes to cutting down frames, it can be quite a big job as when you cut a sofa in half you have to Brace both end for strength again. Hope this helps. 🙏🧵⛏️📎✂️📐
At 8:55, it's mentioned Hessian prevent foam collapsing through webbing. I understand the same reason for Hessian on the seats. Now what if we just use a lot of webbing to cover the entire area and skip the Hessian? Apart from extra cost, what're the downsides?
I mean you could do that in theory. I would worry the webs would rub against each other and make noise and would prevent the webs from moving like they should to create a comfortable seat.
Usually tradesman like yourself keep in touch with others even though your across the pond. Would you know of anyone that does quality reupholstery work here in the US specifically south eastern, North Carolina Raleigh area?
Hi Dian! Unfortunately not, I do have a few guys I'm in contact with but not specifically. You might be worth looking at Kim's Upholstery as she has a network all over the country. Hope this helps 🙏 ☺️ 🧵✂️📐📎
Why are the edges of the wood frame not rounded ? We had an armchair reupholstered some years back, the fabric has lasted very well, but the frame of the arms can be felt as hard edges where the foam has compressed over the sharp edge of the timber. I feel rounding the edge of the frame would have made the job last much longer.
Yes I hear what you are saying, I guess most people wouldn't want to pay the extra cost to round off the edges of the whole frame. I always just make sure there is foam and dacron over the hard edge as well as the fabric so it isn't so sharp. 👍✂️🧵📐📎⛏️
My A.F. Sofa is garbage in the inside. I was so disappointed once I opened it. Now I’m left improving all of the shortcuts they made just to reupholster it properly. Materials and fabric are still cheaper than purchasing a couch but what a headache. 🤦🏾♀️
Just know that when it's done it will be much better than what you can buy from a manufacturer! Hope it all works out well and thanks for watching! 👍😁⛏️🧵📐✂️
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I think its the on reupholstery explanation I understand apart from you liking yourself so much with your hair styling 😅😅 its fine you sre funny.
@@faceliftinteriors thank you ., You're videos are great very easy to follow, I used to make marquees so hoping these won't be as difficult to handle or sew, thanks for sharing 🙂
Hi, I've just come across your dining chair reupholstered video. I want to do mine but they are very different to your nice square ones. Mine are wicker and the 4 corners are cut out. Are you following me? I'd love you to do something that resembles mine???
@@faceliftinteriors it's a joke not saying your work is bad😅 you made a statement that we don't cut corners then started cutting the corners literally as in physical sorry I have an terable sense of humour but I did fine this humorous to me
Something like this is a lost art. Especially in amurica. The cost of redoing most things is just not worth it. Cheaper to buy another China couch (or item). Nothing wrong with china stuff.. Just hard to find the quality stuff.
Thank you!! In some cases it is cheaper to buy new but then it seems you’re always stuck in an endless cycle of having to keep buying cheap every few years. Whereas an upholsterer will make changes that will make it last a lot longer! But it depends on everyone’s situation obviously!! Thanks for watching 😊🙏🏻
