Learning to upholster furniture has always seemed to me to be one of the most practical and convenient tasks, since it's a job that will need to be done at some point and, furthermore, it can even be profitable knowledge. When it comes to reupholstering my Ducaroy sofa from Manhattan Home Design, I wish I could do it myself. Thanks for the tutorial.

I really appreciate you showing how to measure for fabric for the couch. What did you come up with for total yardage needed to buy?
@ucsolutionsgivingmore

Hello Harvey, good question. For that sofa size 16-18 yards in a solid fabric should be fine. Please share thank you for doing so. Cheers, Paul

I’m planning to do this with my couch here in a year or too. We got for a steal at a thrift store and I love it. But it seriously needs new covering.

You want a funny, the inside arm of a chair I worked on the lady that did the new upholstery used a very vivid dot fabric. When the sun shone on the chair it was in a corner it looked like it was stained. So I guess the lesson here is DO NOT USE BRIGHT fabric for linning. I cannot remember the fabric she chose after I fixed the old fabric. I believe it was ducking 100 % cotton.

That is funny, that reminds me of a slipcover that we did for a sectional that had a chaise lounge. The client wanted us to replace the foam in the seat cushions as well. The slipcover was made with a thin white fabric and the new foam was bright blue. This wasn't a problem except for the chaise which displayed its side's with pride which weren't wrapped with dacron, so you could clearly see the blue foam underneath. The moral of the story, always consider what is on the inside, it applies to furniture and people. 😏

@@ucsolutionsgivingmore I guess the moral of the story is to check out what your upholsterers did in the past. Just think of the money you could save by NOT having to fix their mistakes. Bright polka dot for lining where was her head??? Some people think they can do this just by watching youtube, NO!!!! Watch a reputable channel like yours, the experts that have the knowledge behind them. Can you believe that some of these people PAINT beautiful wood items and make them look like SH- - , but they like it? Go figure. They do not do the prep work and wonder why they have nasty-looking furniture. I could go on all day about this. As I said follow people with the knowledge. I hope Dad is having a nice day have said my prayer for him today and will still pray for this awesome gent.

hi! How much fabric did you need for this couch? Your video is very good.

Good question between 15-20 yards. 20 yards with a skirt 3 back cushion you should be safe. 15 yards no skirt no pipping 2 back cushions. This is in a solid fabric no big pattern line up. I hope this helped you. Please share the videos with others it helps so much. God bless, Paul

Your suggestion to watch "How to Reupholster a Sofa Start to Finish" at the end of your video links to a political video from an other channel. The title is right, but when I click on the suggestion, it's not your 2-video series that are linked. Not sure if you have control over it. Just wanted to mention your suggestion for the most popular videos on your channel don't link to your videos at all.
