This is Status Quo's anthem. I saw them a few years ago in Adelaide and it was the most high energy performance, they made it look so easy, the audience stood up the moment the first guitar chord sounded and we didn't sit down again until it was all over. It was hot, noisy but so so good

Why you need to listen/react to Funk, Jazz and R&B legend, Don Blackman: He played with the likes of Funkadelic, Parliament, Earth Wind & Fire, and Roy Ayers. And he recorded as a session musician and his masterful work appeared on albums of several artists such as Kurtis Blow, Bernard Wright, Janet Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, and Master P. (to name a few). Don Blackman was a musical beast, and production master!! From what I can remember back in the day, the Quo had just finished an 80 gig live tour of the UK when Live Aid came up . . . - (Can't remember now if it was 80 gigs in 80 days, or something very close to that?) - So their bodies were aching & their vocal chords were about shot by then, and so they really needed a good rest. However, Bob Geldof asked them to start off the Live Aid show in the UK with this song in their set - and then when they finished, they all had to jump on to a booked Concorde to fly them to the US, ready to open the US version of Live Aid as well in the same way with this song . . .

I remember in the early 70's Status Quo wasn't really known here in the states except for a 60's hit ( pics of matchstick men ) but a girl i knew had their albums Quo and Piledriver. I dug them immediately.

Some great music by Quo is off their Piledriver album - A Year; Oh Baby; For You; Unspoken Words. Also: Gerdundula; Railroad; Umleitung Man the list is endless actually. This is my favourite group in the world!! Also, anniversary of Rick Parfitts death next month so I'll be rockin with some QUO for sure!

Jay and Amber, you both love Quo, they sire rock like hell so you should listen to one of their rearly rock songs, the riff in "Caroline" is legendary, it's a song from 1972 so in their early days but it really rocks, pure early Quo.

This Quo version of Rocking All Over... is by far the most popular. It was one of those rare songs that actually got boys dancing at school dances! It was Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogarty who wrote and recorded the song first, though. That was in 1975, when in Senior School I bought the album and hid it in my dorm room, to play at night. My school didn't allow boys to have rock records!

It may be Quo, but it's a live version or a re-recording or something. It might also be imitators. Nothing like the qualities of the UK #3 hit they had with John Fogerty's song in 1977

@@Tangles02 At the very least it is not their original hit single. I still have one of those and - this morning - I got that out and played it to compare it with the version on here. There are a LOT of small differences - the piano sound is completely different, even the intro has very noticeable differences. As to whether it's impersonators, or just SQ doing a re-recording is less certain in my mind. But, people here who claim die-hard fandom of SQ say it's definitely not them so I would incline to that view.

Plenty of classics from them you couldn't go wrong picking anything but my personal favourites are 'Marguerita Time', 'Pictures of Matchstick Men', 'Caroline', 'Dirty Water', 'Don't Waste My Time', 'Don't Drive My Car', 'Mystery Song'. 'Rain', 'Ol Rag Blues', 'Mess Of Blues', 'The Wanderer', 'Dear John', 'Rollin Home', 'Dreamin', 'Aint Complaining', 'Rock Til You Drop', 'And It's better now'

Status Quo were THE classic UK rock band, first appearing mid 60s with Pictures of Matchstick men... So respected were they, that they opened Live Aid in '85 with this very song. This may sound to you now like US rock n roll, but very much rooted in early UK rock.
