Trying them was essential. I’m looking for quality and what I get here is real quality, both while using the paints with the airbrush but also afterwards, in the vicarage of the paint and in the scratch test. Well worth it. And they are from Europe also! That’s a plus!

How does the heat & squeeze test compare to other soft vinyl paints?

I've tried with Mr. Color and they pass the squeeze test but I have had problems with the scratch test.

Hey there, do you need a primer coat for this paint? Or it can be applied directly on PVC surface? Thank you!!

Directly to the surface. Clean the surface with water and soap (or a little bit of thinner) before if you want It to stick better. I use water and soap to clean from the vinyl residue from the factory and it’s enough.

Hi, I have a few questions about this painting. For the first coat, should you use the transparent Medium or just the thinner with the paint? For the second coat, if I use the Transparent Medium mixed with paint, do I always have to add a thinner with it or is it no longer necessary? If yes, what are the dosages?

I don’t usually need a first coat. I just paint directly on the toy with the paint diluted in thinner. If I want to do another coat of the same color I will wait until the first one is dry and then apply the second one. If I want to paint over with another color then I choose the color (diluted with thinner) and then paint over. I use the transparent if I want the base color to be revealed under the upper coat of color. You must check the mixing ratios in each paint producer website separately. I usually mix 1:1 for the Mr Hobby Paints.

Would you say these paints also work on harder plastics. Like on gunpla and other model kits? Especially the scratch resistance because of posing gunpla kits etc is almost unavoidable.

I think they have another variations of Hikari paints just for this kind of harder plastics. Look in their website under the “specials paints” part.
