Exactly! He is a young, strong GM. But in the real world, outside of his room, it is an another story. He lacks discipline, manners, and if you say "chess speaks for itself" , why is he so loud? Look how Naka well dressed is, always a gentleman. Real and humble. And that kiddo shouldnt be offering coaching behind camera, on live broadcast. 100k each, hey, wait a moment. Better say "I worked as hard as I could, I am prepared, but I understand that I play versus players who are much longer in the game, one of the best players in history, and I will give everything I got. I understand it is a hard challange, but I am so glad that I accomplished to be here, but also there is a lot of room to grow, and I will try to become a number 1 in the future." @@alensmolcic7711 your English is fine. I’m a stupid ass American with one language. Do not apologize. He is young and arrogant from fighting a company and targeting others who have had their opinions. Thus he’s made more enemies when he should have been making friends. I’ve always felt bad for him but after levy’s interview… I’m glad Hans lost both matches…. I was 21, 14 years ago and was in a war zone. I get having a fighter spirit and being resentful. He needs to clear his head and get help and he will not get that from Kramnic. I’m probably spelling his name wrong but idc. I can’t stand him. Either way, Hans is very strong and could be stronger if his focus was different. He was so sure he would come in and smack everyone in the mouth because he beat them online. When the real world smacked him in the mouth. I hope he learns. If not he’s just going to stay bitter

The last five minutes really reminded me of what Totalbiscuit used to say. He was a pretty well-known Starcraft 2 commentator in the early stage of his career, and one of the things he said was important as a commentator was to create the "story" of an event. Not to force drama but rather explain to the viewer why an event and matchup is interesting. If there was an underdog, the commentators needed to push that narrative to the viewers to make it interesting. Starcraft 2 players were never especially charismatic or media trained so it was especially important that you had interesting commentators to make the entire event interesting for the viewer. I feel like chess is in a similar spot, and your role is really important to keep the games interesting. Commentating is an art form, and you did a great job!

I see many people comment disrespectful things to this man just in order to get 'A PIN OF SHAME'. Let's just stop it. You all have to understand Levy is a human, too. Levy, I'm a big fan of you and love how you make chess more entertaining as other stuff. Keep going, Levy! Also, I hope you'll accomplish your own chess targets! You can do it! 💯

Now I LOVE Levy, Monsieur Pineapple, Mango, Fabuloso, Christian, the Botez sisters... And I couldn't care less about the WCC bc I know nothing about Ding nor Gukesh. At the end of the day, connecting on a human level works. Parasocial relationships work. That's why American Idol contestants all have sob stories, or amazing come-ups. There is something special about this current trio. It takes me back to the 90's bulls. Magnus is Jorden, just out there, a level above. Backed up with Hikaru as Pippin. Then Hans/Rodman, also very good player but bringing this chaos energy and spectral outside the game, even non-fans need to tune in a little.

I understand the sentiment of Hans having been young when he cheated and the argument that he should be let off the hook and just move on. I wonder if this is to the detriment of chess as a sport. In other sports categories, whenever someone is caught cheating they are usually banned. I can think of examples in baseball, cycling, track, F1, football, etc. Chess is making a choice. Questioning if that is the right choice for chess.
@thomasijontichy5651

@johnrangel4338
@johnrangel4338 7 дней назад
I know it’s kind of rare but it happens. For example Lance Armstrong is a high profile one that comes to mind. Also it tends to happen related to drug use, cheating, betting, manipulating outcomes etc. I think that Hans has fully embarrassed himself at this point and is struggling for sponsors. So he has paid a price. Here is a list of athletes that have been banned. I’m sure it’s not comprehensive. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Sportspeople_banned_for_life

@@johnrangel4338 I'll quote you. "I understand the sentiment of Hans having been young when he cheated and the argument that he should be let off the hook and just move on. I wonder if this is to the detriment of chess as a sport." So this is about "not letting him off the hook no matter how many years have been spent." Then we have: "In other sports categories, whenever someone is caught cheating they are usually banned." With the former statement, this is disingenuous.
@johnrangel4338
@johnrangel4338 6 дней назад
You missed the subtlety of what I was saying. In the end I think even though he should be banned, I also don’t believe the Chess federations will ban him because he has done a lot to increase interest in chess. He's Chess's Phil Hellmuth, but younger and more consistently intense. Some people think Phil is good for poker and others don't. Hans brings both positives and negatives for chess as a whole no matter how you feel about him... just a matter of whether you feel those positives (drama, intrigue) are worth the obvious negatives. (And to clarify, Phil has obviously accomplished far more in poker than Hans has in chess, so his negatives don't carry with them any kind of real authority as a top player)
