this video is so cinematic lmao. it's a 3 part masterpiece. the first match introduces hikaru-bot, the robot version of hikaru. you can tell that he's playing hikaru's openings, but he plays his moves instantly without needing to think. right now the bot's strenght is pretty much unknown, since you can tell that his rating is lower than hikaru but hikaru hints that it should be higher. they draw the first game and it leaves the viewer with a sense of mystery and the question: how strong is hikaru-bot? in game two, hikaru is seen thinking for really long between some moves all while hikaru-bot takes half a second at most. hikaru loses this game, giving a sense of the bot's actual power. they play one more game only for hikaru to blunder his opening, giving us another reminder that hikaru is only human, and hikaru-bot is not. hope is almost lost as the viewer starts to wonder if it's even possible to beat hikaru-bot. the final game. both battle it out in an epic game of chess. hikaru still takes more than double the time to think than hikaru-bot, but this time something is different. hikaru is in the lead! he just has to play the game perfectly without making a single mistake to win. after an intense display of determination and raw skill he manages to reach the end with only his queen, the two kings and a couple of pawns on the board. as a final act of dominance he promotes all of his pawns to queens and the game finishes with hikaru-bot's king mated, alone and quivering with fear in the corner of the board.
