Hiking The Barham Ridge Loop: Suburban Orange County (Santiago Oaks Regional Park), Anaheim Hills, CA.
With the weather remaining cool for a little while longer, I wanted to get in a peak climbing visit to the sunbathed western edge of the Santa Ana Mountains. There were a few established peaks that were unvisited by me, as well as Koll Mountain to the south. The plan was to follow the ridge to check off these peaks and to wrap it up with a visit to Koll. The ridge went flawlessly, but hit a snag when attempting Koll Mountain. Due to private property restrictions, Koll was off limits by that route. As I have done for years on the trail, I make lemonade out of water whenever necessary. I did a hiking audible and activated a quick backup plan by forming a loop hike through Santiago Oaks Regional Park. The transition when smoothly, and created a video worth sharing!
