There was a great weather window for a Hike and Fly over Mt Snowdon in the middle of December in the UK!!! We started hiking from the Pen-y-Pass car park with our gear which is approx 15kg, and decided to take the Crib Goch route to the summit of Snowdon.
The winds were predicted to be light and coming from the East, with some fog in the valleys. When we arrived at the trig point on Crib-y-Ddysgl the winds were coming up this face so we decided that we should launch from here rather than continuing to the summit of Snowdon. The height difference is approximately 350ft and this seemed like a nice launch rather than the rocks over on the peak of Snowdon.
There was just enough wind to maintain height on a full size glider when soaring over Crib Goch, I stayed for a few minutes but went to land with a friend who wasn't able to stay up on a smaller wing, 17m Ozone Zero 3.
It was hard to choose which wings to take up, speed wings or paraglider. Next time will be on the Speed wings, Ozone Rapidos.
