Great flight Ollie, and I wanted to be there but I was ill (story of my life ATM!!) but its a bit jerky TBH. I am not sure about the use of the Insta 360. I am doing some filming on a GoPro 10, which has fantastic stabilization. Good after flight commentary.
Thanks, yeah it was a really enjoyable flight. The ‘jerkiness’ is because I filmed it using interval mode which means it takes an image every .5 of a second and then makes the video from the images. Going forwards I’ll be using normal video only, but it’s a balance between data storage and video quality. Hopefully you’re back out flying soon too.
Mainly the size and weight, the screen is a little harder (but hardly anything) to read in flight as it’s smaller and I kept the same number of instruments on the screen. I think if you’re doing lots of racing comps (not hike n fly), stay with the bigger version.
I need to put more time on the wing in varied conditions to really give you any very useful information. I’ve have under 10 hours on it so far in on only 2 XC flights. Both of the flights I have had to hang around in weak thermals and on this one drifting in near zero’s for over 30 minutes, id say it’s really good. Gives you really good info on the air but I guess a lot of this is subjective to what you like.
I don’t have a max2 but I think the Omni is a different device not exactly comparable it has much more features. For vario I use a Xct mini 2 flarm, I don’t have this connected to the Omni so that I get 2 independent IGC files at the end of the flight. I keep the vario volume of the Omni turned off and use Xct.
@@OllieEllis gotcha Thanks for the response. Id be curious on a side by side of the vario response between a tracer and an Omni. For H&F would just like to carry one instrument
I enjoyed flying them, not real complaints about either, maybe wished the volt turned a little better. The Strike is unstable but I liked that, I think it’s exactly as Supair said on their site. In this video I was flying the Volt and the Delight 4 sport however. I’ve now sold that as pack voulue was too big for me but I liked that also.
@@OllieEllis I’ve not seen Roger for quite some time. I’m not even sure he jumps anymore. I filmed him jumping several sites in the north. Way before GoPro ‘s & camera phones. He picked my brains on locations as he was from the south. As far as I know he was the first to jump Malham Cove. He’s still on here biking of Beachy Head & jumping the Old Man of Hoy with Tim & Gus (RIP). It was the overhang on Raven Crag that gave me the idea it could be a possible location. I had no clue if he could clear the trees though. He stood on the edge a few evening but backed of due to the wind. Before he finally sent it. Still amazes me you guys clear those trees! 💪🏻👍🏻
