Nice one Greg, good analysis. One thing though, it wasn't 40kph in the valley where I landed at apron 19:45, maybe 20ish, so absolutely fine for landing...

give it a try, you'll be amazed how good your flying gets when the penalty is walking (after you've already done a peak ascent) :-)

Great to watch! One question why you use( I guess) the subair strike instead of the range xalps 2 in competition? What is for your the difference?

much better feeling in flight, contact with wing, due to seatboard and more upright position. xalps2 offers more performance (less drag) but not as nice to fly, and I only do a few races in a year, the rest of the year I'm left with whatever harness I've chosen ... I like to keep just one harness so when I'm reviewing wings I have a standard reference to work from

How long is your flying season ? do you get rained out a lot ? what months are good?

I wish I knew. UK is notoriously fickle and changeable, and can be great for weeks in a row, then completely rubbish. www.hilltop-analytics.com/pg-xc-flight-browser/ will give you a basic idea

Greg Hamerton true, very true. I was surprised your gamble didn’t pay off, as where you were heading has a dip that gets very warm, that said, the wind predominantly comes N/NW generally on that part of the Beacons.... Dean South Wales
