In this video, I show you how I make my simple delicious granola recipe for hiking and backpacking. This is a easy recipe for backpackers on the go that is both nutritious and provide you with the calories you need on the trail.
Please feel free to add constructive comments. I freely admit I don’t know all the answers and have blind spots. Feel free to enlighten me. We may disagree, but I’m not afraid of robust conversations.

Easy Granola Recipe
Ingredients
1 ½ cups of Melted Coconut Oil
1 ½ cups of Pure Maple Syrup
Optional: ¼ cup of Agave Syrup to help granola stick together
1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
1 ½ tsp Nutmeg
1 tsp salt
9 cups of Oats
2 cups sliced almonds
2 cups sliced walnuts
1 cup pumpkin seeds
2 cups banana chips
2 cups cranberries
2 cups blueberries
1 cup Goji berries
Directions in the Description
Directions: Preheat Oven to 300 degrees. Mix Coconut oil, Maple Syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix half oats and half nuts. Stir in rest of oats and nuts. Spread on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Bake. Check and stir every five minutes. Cook until mostly dry (usually 20 minutes) Place parchment paper on a wire rack, and let cool. Stir in banana chips, cranberries, blueberries and Goji berries. Vacuum Seal or store in a jar.

Thanks for this great granola recipe. I always love your videos. I use a similar recipe. I use similar igridiands but i add a few eggs. So u can make canola bars if u like. My recipe: 500gr oatmeal soft 500gr oatmeal pity 500gr peanuts 400gr peanutbutter 4 eggs Vanilla Little bit almond oil 500gr honey Stirr all ingridians expept the oatmeal. Then carefully add the oatmeal. Bake as you have shown in the video. Bevore baking you can press it into bars. You can eat them without liquit as a snack. For explanation: in Germany we have oatmeal with different textures. I mix them all together. This granola is part of the daily breakfast of the Benedikin monks in the monastary Beuron in Germany were i am a cook. Greatings from Germany

Yum! Need to cook up a batch of this! May add in some mini chocolate or carob chips for another little pop of flavor...but not too much as I don't want any to melt! Keep on sharing!

The mini-chocolates sound delicious. It's really good with yogurt, which you could only take with you on the trail the first day. Next time you're in Washington on the PCT in August or September, it would be great with some wild Huckleberries, too.

Hi from NZ. Really enjoy yr vids. I make a similar recipe. Make up 130 gram meal sized bags but add 2 tablespoons of milk powder as well. Just add water and stir and that's brekky done.

By the way, carrageenan is just seaweed. It'd be just fine in your oats!

Not yet! But I think if you add some agave syrup it will help them set up so that can happen.

After vacuum packing, do you need to freeze the package or store at room temperature? Your recipe yielded 19 cups of granola. Thanks

Yes, I do free after vacuum packing. I try to make my recipe right before a trip. The same thing with my energy bars and dehydrated meals. I've heard horror stories of folks who went on trips only to find their meals turned rancid. Wish I could afford a freeze dryer.

Oh jeez. You almost lost me with the "chemicals" list. You probably don't like dihydrogen monoxide either. Okay seriously, looks like a good recipe. You might add that you're using dried berries, not fresh ones!

I won't even look that one up, Karen. I can't imagine anything that includes monoxide is something I want to tangle with. Dried berries for sure.
